Scanned my 35mm & 110 films with better results than the original prints
This relatively cheap, non-professional scanner did exactly what I wanted it to, which was scan my large collection of 35mm negatives and the few 110 negatives I had, with decent results. It produced better images than the original high-street/postal print services I used at the time, revealing more details, giving higher resolution, and better colour balance than many of the sets of prints. It also showed me how badly some of those services had cropped the prints. I managed to get some OK images off films with terrible development (like incredibly red or very dark negatives). You do need to keep cleaning the internal screen with the provided tool and I bought a cheap lens/negative cleaning kit to remove dust from the negatives and the internal screen of the scanner. Occasionally the automatic colour/brightness correction got it wrong but the scannerâs clear, bright screen showed this and the very simple adjustments available fixed the problem 95% of the time.It is a little clunky swapping between scanning a set of negatives and then saving them to the computer (I really do not see why it cannot do it directly) but all in all it did the job. Iâm sure serious photography people would not be so happy with the unit, but I was always just a point-and-press photographer/ It digitised all my old 35mm negatives giving me final images better than almost all the original developed photos. One note, it wonât scan APS films – but then almost no scanner will. And the one I found that did, it created terrible scans!

Easy to use
This product is simple and easy to use. A bit limited on features. Sharpness and resolution is o.k. for day to day use, but not much more.

Slide scanning.
I am getting very high quality copies of my slides onto digital format. The only difficulty I had was in uploading the digital copies from the scanner to my laptop. I couldn’t find out how to get the laptop to accept the copies. I overcame this problem by putting the SD card with the copies on into my camera then moving them from my camera into the laptop as if the camera had taken the photos.I have so far made several thousand copies with results that match the quality of the original slides.

If you have alot of film negatives
This was probably my favourite Amazon purchase. I had about 300 negatives i wanted to digitalise. Easy to use very good results and surprisingly cheap. 100%

Works well with slides, but colour negative film can be problematic…
SLIDES/POSTIVESThe scanner was used on a range of 5×5 cm slides dating from the 1950s to 1990s. Some were ‘super slides’ with larger image sizes (4×3 or 4×4 cm), from 127 film, but of course, only the central area could be captured. Where possible (with the thinner mounts), slides were scanned quickly in succession by pushing one after another through the holder. Colour reproduction was perfectly acceptable and overall I was happy with the results.COLOUR NEGATIVESThere were two main issues:i. colour reproduction was a problem in quite a few cases, with lurid reds and oranges, often from clothing. Reducing colour saturation post scanning helped somewhat. I also saw inconsistent results on a few occasions when scanning the same negative image a second time. For the most severe cases, I’ve also scanned without inverting the image, i.e. using the colour slide setting, with the aim of inverting the images myself later on.ii. some film developers had stacked the strips of negatives together, rather than putting them into sleeves. As a result, over time, these had begun to stick together, both curling and damaging the negatives to the extent that some were unusable. Luckily, Iâve been able to scan those images from prints instead – a good backup method rather than alternative to this type of device.GENERALi. As others have stated, there is excessive cropping of 35mm slide and films. If subjects occupy the full frame, then this could be a problem.ii. Uneven illumination from the back light causes dark patches on skies in images from negatives, but doesn’t seem to be such an issue for slides, presumably because these would appear as lighter patches. The worst can be digitally removed afterwards, but it’s still annoying none-the-less.iii. As well as needing to keep slides and negatives are free of dirt, the backlight must also be kept clean – the supplied wand is fine for this.

Improved slide scanning for me!
Very pleased with initial impressions of this device. Easy to use after 4-5 minutes familiarisation with the buttons (brightness and colour). Much faster scanning lots of slides than methods I’ve had in the past. Acceptable quality scans. The screen is big enough for you to see what you are doingThe manual says SDXC cards are not compatible, and there is a maximum of 32GB. However my SanDisk 64GB SDXC card is working perfectly well in it. I’ve got a lot of work to do – thousands of slides!

Good for casual use and backing up photos. Not good for high quality images.
The Kodak Digital Film Scanner is a great option for quickly scanning film and backing up old negatives. Itâs incredibly easy to use, with a straightforward interface that makes the whole process fast and hassle-free. Setting it up is simple, and you can scan a lot of negatives in a short amount of time, which is great if you have boxes of old film to digitize. That said, while the scans are decent, theyâre not quite as high quality as I would prefer. The resolution is fine for casual viewing and sharing, but if youâre looking for professional-grade detail, you might need a higher-end scanner. Still, for convenience, speed, and general film preservation, it does the job well!
