I needed to move an EE FTTH hub from its location on an external wall to a more central location which research and experiment had shown greatly improved the distribution of the Wi-Fi signal. Supposed to deliver 500 mbs it struggled to provide 40 in some parts of the house. Needless to say the engineer response was that the speed delivered by the fibre at the Hub was around 500 so that satisfied their side of the bargain. Using three (black) disks to establish a mesh network failed to improve matters – and through experiment it proved that the hub delivered a stronger Wi-Fi signal on its own. I also ascertained that the hub worked much more effectively in a central location so this flat cable provided a solution of sorts by allowing me to re-site the Hub. By mapping the Wi-Fi signal around the house I finally found a solution that provides a reasonably stable and consistent Wi-Fi signal across the property. One problem though – I overestimated the amount of cable and having unrolled much of it found it difficult to roll back up. A second problem to be aware of is that whenever there is a need to change direction it proved a challenge to accomplish this neatly. On reflection a round cable would have solved my problem in a better way and since Cat8 cable isn’t that expensive I would have bought that. One lives and learns.

Native speeds even through an adapter. Would recommend you get more cable pins however, as it doesn’t come with enough for most households. You’d need a mostly straight layout otherwise. These are good quality, have been stood on and yanked by pets before we got them pinned up and they’ve performed just as well. They can handle a decent bit of warp too, so don’t be too cautious on installation if you have some odd gaps to fit them through like we did.

It’s not a CAT6 Ethernet cable, but it does work at 100Mbps
I bought two of these cables to wire up two POE security cameras. They are both working just fine. So POE is absolutely fine.In terms of speed, it’s fine for my needs, but it doesn’t match the CAT 6 description which implies 1Gbps speeds. Frankly I’m wandering if they have 4 twisted pairs inside that cable, which is essential to achieve high speeds. I suspect they don’t given that it’s a flat cable.
