Recommended – endlessly customisable
The Lepro BG1 is a GU10 lamp that offers a myriad of customisation, from brightness, kelvin (warm/cold), colour and much more.The box is sparse; it contains only the bulb itself and an instruction sheet. It would have been nice for a suction cup to have been included, as some GU10 ceiling lights have shrouds or covers which make changing bulbs a tad tricky. I have one to spare, so I managed to use that to change the existing bulb for this one.It is a pre-requisite to download and install the “Lepro” app, of which you have to register an account before you can add the device (in this case the BG1 bulb), set up WiFi and start customising the light. All of this is very straightforward, and I was up and running within 2 minutes.Within the number of features of the bulb and controlling app, just having the ability to control its brightness without having to have dimmer switches installed physically by an electrican or otherwise is a great advantage that unlocks a lot of possibilities.The price is steep at 12.99 (at time of writing), but in many ways you’re not just getting a bulb – it is like getting several bulb characteristics (brightness, kelvin, colour) into one. You no longer have to buy different type of bulbs to get a particular light characteristic.Replacing a typical GU10 pair of bulbs with these (or even an entire house) would be quite pricey and questionable if value for money. However, given the customisation one is getting with this bulb for me, it would be worth it.Recommended.

Easy to control with the Android app, good range of colours and brightness
I already had the Lepro Android app installed on my phone to control a smart bulb in the bedroom so I was able to connect to this GU10 bulb straight away. If you are installing the app for the first time you will need to create an account (or use a default one through google or Facebook). The bulb has a good range of brightness and colours and is particularly useful for testing out the different types of white light that are available from “warm white” 2000-2300K to very bright “cool white” 5000K+, you’ll be surprised how much this impacts on the ambiance of a room (I made the mistake a while ago of getting cool white bulbs for the bathroom, we found the light far too “harsh”).The bulb colours and brightness can easily be controlled using the app or you can even use voice commands like “turn the light off’ (your phone must be connected). The lights also can respond to music when using the app but I have installed the bulb in the bathroom so don’t intend to use it for any fancy effects. The bulb colour and brightness is remembered when you turn the light off and you do not need to use your phone again once you have set the bulb to your preferred setting.

pretty good smart bulb
This bulbs is pretty good – I tend use smart bulbs in lamps with a bayonet convertor as i like the way the GU10 casts light straight up giving a diffferent lighting effect from a globe style bulb. The smart features mean that I can control the various properties of the bulb from my phone or more usually via Alexa. “Alexa lamp on” or “Alexa lamp blue/red/whatever” changes the bulb almost immediately.I downloaded the app and paired the bulbs with Alexa so I can use voice control on them for on/off colour and brightness, although its mainly on, off I use once I’ve got the colour and brightness set (I can override alexa with the app if necessary). Theres all types of pairing in groups options in the app which I may use eventually.The light and colour of the bulbs is good – not the best I have, some of the colours are a little washed out but not a big deal to me. You can never tell how long smart bulbs are going to last so that is going to be a wait and see situation but on first impressions these are very decent bulbs. At £13 for 1 or £19 for 2 the price when buying a couple seems reasonable singly I think they are a little on the steep side.

Nice device horrible UI. Might be ok with another app.
When I saw this offered for review, I bought a lamp specifically so I could use this. Really wish I had not.I had expected this to work with Alexa, because it says it works with Alexa. Perhaps it works with older Alexa devices, I dont know , but my husband has Alexa show and spent two hours trying to find a way to get Alexa to recognise this. Alexa always says no new device available. He has other lights that work with Alexa, but this one does not.Since we could not use this with Alexa I installed the Lepro app. I did the get light to change colours sometimes. Other times it did not respond. It seems to work best when within a metre of the device.We were never able to get the music part to work. My son did say we had to allow the app the ability to record using the microphone, so I did allow this in settings. But the app always say the music setting can not work because microphone is not enabled. It then requests that you got settings and enabled it. You press the button and it clearly shows that the microphone is enabled . So you go back to the app and it says it is not.Now I would write this off as me being to stupid to use it, but my son is very good with tech and he could not get it going either, he says he will probably be another app on p,ay store that he might be able to make work with the device, but I find the failure of the app that is meant to be made for this to a major product failure.The light is quite nice when it works with good illumination and ia very nice range of colours. I think it would be a very nice device if it had better software, so if one of my so s finds a better app I will try to update but both have very full schedules right now and we already have so much time wasted on this product.
