Customers say

Customers find this chess game to be a brilliant computer chess set that offers excellent value for money. The build quality receives mixed feedback – while some praise its construction, others note it’s made of cheap plastic with hollow rims. Functionality and ease of use also get mixed reviews, with some saying it works well and is easy to use with varying challenges, while others report it doesn’t work and find it not user-friendly. The stability is a concern as pieces fall over or off very easily, and customers note the pieces are very light. The size receives mixed opinions, with some appreciating its compact design while others find the pieces too small.

    Good value for money
I bought the game for £44 and I’m well happy with it’s strength. Ideal Xmas present for a child who’s a beginner or an advanced adult. Pieces are a bit light but recognisable.

Cheapest I could find but ok for what it is and good fun to play against for a novice like me.
I’m a very bad chess player so I purchased the ChessMan Elite to improve my game. It’s the cheapest chess computer I could find which does show in the quality of materials used. Two of the buttons did not operate smoothly so I opened the back and found they were rubbing on the inside of the case, after trimming them down a bit they now work perfectly. The plastic chess pieces are horrible so I purchased a small wooden set from Amazon for £6.99, they are much better, slightly heavier and a better size for the board. After all that I am very pleased with it. I could have paid a lot more for no great advantage to me. It works well, but you need to read the instructions first if you haven’t used one before. It’s great fun and early days but I can hold my own on level one now.

    Great game set
Bought this recently, as my son learned chess, but wanted some other options, in case he gets bored or something that he can play with his younger sister. It’s magnetic, not very strong on the pieces, but they do hold well. Size is decent and the chess can be folded with the pieces stored insight, but the other game sheets need to be stored somewhere flat, so it’s a bit inconvenient if you want to ditch the box and keep it folded. Maybe of the sheets themselves were foldable as well, would have been better. Overall, great value for money and happy kids (for now).

poor quality construction (magnets fall off, no power supply)
so disappointed with this set – could have got cheaper, but went with a recognised brand. arrived and then spent the first 30 mins putting the magnets back on and removing the sticky stuff that was on the pieces as a result of the magnets falling off, I am losing my sight (hence purchased one with sound and lights) and the instructions are written in a font that I am not sure anyone could read. Plus – given it has a port for power I am really surprised it doesnt come with a power supply ( yess this is mentioned on the site) and the pieces are in brown envelopes, so where do you store them once opened?!!! not exactly user friendly

    cheap and not fun
Chess pieces are minute….smaller than you’d expect and difficult to see and move. Instruction manual is packed rolled up and so is awkward to read. Feels cheap….should be half the price really. Not fun to use at all. Can’t recommend it.

    Beep beep
Overall a great product that is worth the sale price. Can be a little finicky so better for older kids or be prepared to supervise a few games until they get the hang of it.
The pieces are too big and can be prone to falling over, especially the knights, but they look very cool and frankly, even my 7 year old quickly learned to maneuver them around with any issues.

Frustrating item, does not register the movement everytime.. due to this issue it is frustrating and confusing who’s turn it is and what is wrong when it starts complaining about the move done.
