Customers say
Customers find the electronic dictionary good for crosswords and anagrams, with one noting it provides full word definitions. However, the functionality receives mixed feedback, with several customers reporting it stops working completely. Moreover, the readability is problematic with an unreadable display and poor text quality, while the screen size is too small and the brightness is insufficient. Additionally, customers disagree on the ease of use and quality, with some describing it as an amazing little machine while others find it unreliable. Value for money is also mixed, with several customers considering it an utter waste of money.

Was this a new spellchecker?
Was this a new spellchecker? It is very difficult to open it, the little red button is almost impossibly stiff. When we did eventually manage it, neither of us could get it to turn on, we have to poke it with the end of a pencil. I saw that the battery compartment was not properly closed. I tried to screw it tighter but it would not tighten. The thing would still not turn on. I had to get a new battery and insert it. The battery compartment still would not close properly, but at least it works now. I wonder if I have received a new machine? My previous one lasted all of a year, and I would expect something like this to last ten years, especially at this price. I only bought the same model again because the buttons are large and therefore relatively easy to use and I hoped it would last longer, but I doubt it will even last a year. Disappointed. Since writing this it packed up again and I had to try to force the battery cover almost closed. It still will not close properly but it is working now. Delivered on 6/4/24. review written 28/4/24. Waste of money.Note added 13/5/24: The battery holder is getting worse. It is impossible to push the battery right into it and screw the cover back on, so sometimes the thing will not turn on. This is definitely a duff Lexibook and I shall be complaining to Collins. No Stars.Update June 2024. Collins told me to contact Lexibook but there is absolutely no way to do that. Every time I try to get through to their “assistance” page I get a message telling me that it is not possible at this time, try later. There is no address to write to but I found one on the box that this came in and I am going to send it back to them by post. Watch this space!Update – 10 July 2024. Still no word from Lexibook. I stupidly bought another one and that packed up after a couple of weeks, I returned it to Amazon. on 12 July.15 Feb 2025. I never did hear back from Amazon.

Reasonable
This is OK, but nothing special. Bought to replace an old unit that the buttons stopped operating, probably 20-25 yrs old, and while this one is a lot quicker to find answers the range of answers particularly in the synonyms is not spectacular. Also doesn’t have an encyclopedia like the old one used to have. Like I said it’s OK, but I’d prefer my old one was working.

Difficult to use
The product appeared ok on the Amazon site but was disappointing upon delivery. We bought this to replace an old Seiko which had given brilliant service for about 20 years until it finally failed. We tried to find anyone who still sold the Seiko but alas the only ones for sale were used. The difference between the Lexibook and the Seiko is significant. The screen a much smaller, the text has poor definition and the some of features of the Seiko are missing on the Lexibook.I would not recommend this product

It only lasted a few weeks before it stopped working completely
We thought this looked really good on line but it feels cheap and badly made. Screen hard to read . Poor quality. Not good value for £38. We do lots of crosswords and it was hopeless. Pleased to return it and get a refund
