What am amazing lock, it was so easy to install, is quality construction, the app was super simple and overall just easy to use.So many options for locking and unlocking, including key, code, fob, fingerprint and remotely. I’ve had it a month and my battery level is still showing 100% on the app.I recently put my home on a home swap site and this lets me manage access, check when people came and went, send codes, see who’s codes were used, check if the door is locked or not, and so much more.I registered for the 2 year warranty, but discovered this Amazon purchase is a reseller, so if you want the warranty you should search this item on US Amazon and buy direct from the manufacturer, which is a small family business, and they’ve even checked in on me and my lock despite not buying from them. Their price is $160US.Either way, highly recommend this lock.

Best Keylock with great supportI shopped around a lot looking for the perfect Smart Lock and asked questions before I decided to buy this one. I’m glad I did as its got everything needed already included in the box. You don’t need to purchase anything else. Even the Gateway is included which is a wonderful bonus.Paul was very helpful in answering my questions. The Lock was easy to set up and install. I was able to easily set my code, fingerprints and IC card effortlessly. The Gateway setup was also easy. I was able to easily set custom passcodes for friends and family and even Emergency Services using the Smart911 app. I was also able to set up fingerprint unlock for my nephew so he won’t have a code to forget or a fob to lose.THE LOCK: The Lock can be unlocked via Fingerprint, fob, key code, Bluetooth, Alexa, Google Home, eKey, and Remote unlock as well as good ole fashioned physical Key which gives me Safety Reassurance. Only one fingerprint can be setup at a time. If you want to unlock by right and left index you need to create each one separately and assign your name differently for each one. Mine is setup as Kelly Right Index, Kelly Left Index. It will show up in the logs as exactly that. It’s durable and built well. It looks good especially when paired with a matching door handle. The lock automatically locks when closed with the sensor hooked up. If you don’t use the sensor you’ll have to use timed auto lock. Alexa can also setup a routine to lock the door after a certain time. If your really sophisticated you can have Alexa check an alarm sensor on the door (assuming you have an Alexa compatible alarm sensor) and if cleared lock the door.Alexa was easy to set-up and works great. You can create a separate verbal code so you can tell her to lock or unlock the door and use that code. “Alexa, unlock front door code 1234”. You can also ask her the status of your lock. “Alexa, what’s the status of my front door lock?”I like being able to create ekeys and setup my IC Cards (Fobs) as I need. Whats great about it is whether your choosing fingerprint, code keys, ekeys, or Fobs you can set each as permanent, reccurring (on a schedule like a housekeeper), or Timed (Start and Expire Time). You can revoke them at any time. Lose the fob? No problem simply delete or revoke it in the app. There is one mode I failed to mention because it’s not typically used. There’s a mode called “ERASE” in this mode a one time code is generated and once used, ALL CODES USED ON THE LOCK ARE ERASED. I guess that would be useful if you were a landlord or AirBnB or something and needed to erase all users codes at once.If you have more than one lock, you can group them together so that one passcode or card will be valid for all of them. It’s much like they do in offices and hospitals but for you it would be your front and back doors. One FOB to rule them all.The App keeps logs of who unlocked the door and what time and date. With the Contact sensor attached you can tell if the door is unlocked and open or locked and closed. Inside the app you can see the battery level. It has a feature called “Passage Mode” which lets you choose what days and times the door will NOT auto lock. Great if you have movers or a repair company that need to go in and out a lot. The app also allows you to adjust the lock sound volume. You can turn on Tamper Alert”. “Privacy Mode” which lets you prevent everyone except those with physical Keys, Admin Passcode or the Admin App to open the door.As for those like me who were inquiring about extra fobs, Paul is planning on maybe selling extras at some point. Let him know your interested. In the meantime the IC Cards are 13.56MHz Standard NXP Mifare Classic 1k NFC Cards or fobs. Any standard TTLock IC Card should work just fine. They are easily found all over Amazon such as those made by “Catchface” those are universal and should work. I would rather buy the same ones that come with the lock and support Paul plus they look cool.My only real nitpick which is more of a feature Request for a future version of the lock, is to make a Z-Wave version so it can work with my Ring Home Alarm System allowing the Remote Monitoring Service to unlock the door for the Emergency Services as well as my ring System to Lock and unlock my door and tie it to the Alarm System. I can still do it with workarounds tho so not a super big deal right now. Also the voice is a little low and you might not hear it if it’s noisy. It’s loud enough to hear when you’re close to it tho.I did not test the tamper alert so not sure how that works or if it sounds a siren. That would certainly deter most would be criminals especially if it’s loud.I do like that it has a failsafe battery backup option to open the door but carrying around a 9 volt or locating one in a nearby store is very inconvienient since most people like myself carry a power bank to charge our phone, ear pods, and what have you it would be easier to make a USB-C port. However I found a cheap and simple workaround solution. I bought a USB 5 volt to 9 Volt step up converter cable to carry around with my power bank. No need to go looking for a 9 Volt battery or carry one now. If you still want that option Amazon sells a 9v rechargeable one for around 10 dollars.Despite the no Z-Wave and 9 volt battery things I’m actually very satisfied with the lock and would recommend and buy it again.I will point out that the magnet for the sensor isn’t quite strong enough to reach the sensor given where I have to place the magnet. My door moulding is awkwardly shaped making placement a tad difficult. However, again with a simple workaround I made it work. If you have weird door moulding like me, disassemble the magnet cover, remove the tiny silver magnet, then you can cut out a small place in the door frame where the magnet is supposed to go across from the sensor, then put a tiny amount of rubber glue or whatever works for you into the hole then set the magnet into the hole so it’s flush with the door frame. Not only virtually invisible but it won’t fall off the frame or have little kids messing with it. Optionally you can just go up to Walmart or your local hardware store and get a small but stronger magnet and fasten it to the door frame across from the sensor.I bought 10 IC cards off Temu for real cheap and they programmed just fine and work perfectly.I was also able to write ownership of the cards and “if lost” information to the IC Cards using an NFC reader / writer app off Google. This is NOT recommended for novices as you could leave the card unusable. But if you know what your doing you can write anything to the card and then password protect it, if you wish. The door sensor works much better than the Timed Autolock which can be a real pain to use. The door has no way of knowing if its closed or open and will just lock even if it’s open. I have that turned off because of my nephew and his friends. If your looking for a great Smartlock with great support, my advice is, don’t think about it, JUST DO IT and buy this one. You wont go wrong. If and when Paul makes a Z-Wave version I will DEFINITELY buy it. Plus you’ll be helping to support a family owned business with great support from Paul.UPDATE: 2023-11-10An update to my reference to the alarm and lockout feature above that I did not test. My nephew was here and he had trouble the first few times getting the position of his finger on the fingerprint reader correctly and so eventually set off the mini alarm and the timed lockout. I was able to use my app to unlock the door so we could get in. So the alarm and timed temporary lockout does work and works well. It won’t let you unlock the door until the timer expires or you use your admin features or using the app. He does now get it right now. Btw, neither my fob, fingerprint or passcode would work. I didn’t test the admin code. I just used the app.UPDATE: June 24, 2024Recently my lock Started beeping a series of 4 beeps 5 times in a row and would not lock/unlock. Nothing I tried worked. Paul asked me to try a reset wich I did but it did not work. I filmed the error as requested and sent it to him. He informed me that the motor was not engaging and would Send a replacement. It arrived the next day. 5 stars⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ for the fast reply and replacement. I installed it without a problem and set it all back up. It has been working perfectly since.I also found out that under Passkeys you can remote add a card. And playing around with it I added my NFC enabled debit card and tested it. I can say that it does work as long as you have a Credit or Debit card with RFID. A great way to give someone access like your spouse or yourself since you always carry around your wallet or purse youd always have a Key fob to your lock. This was something I never read anywhere for any SmartLock but I can confirm that you can add your own Credit/Debit card with RFID as a key for your lock through the app, “Passkeys” section. Select the little 3 dots in the upper right hand corner and select “Add Card Remotely” Select which type of card, I chose “permanent” then give the Card a name. Its usually the persons name. I typed my name the a hyphen then my card type I used Vermo. Touch it to the back of your phone and it will add it as a key for your lock. Just a little TIP I thought I would provide for you that you might find usefull.

  3. Sean – Very Satisfied Customer

I have had LockStar installed on our front entry door for about a year and a half now. Our experience with using the lock over that time has exceeded expectations, in terms of durability and reliability of the product. Beyond that, we have maintained a high level of trust that the lock has operated in such a way to give us comfort about security, flexibility in offering different access types to different individuals as well as peace of mind in being notified by name who is coming and going at the house.LockStar put in so much thought into every aspect of the product:- Installation was very easy. The Video is all you need, but there are also clear written instructions with easy to follow illustrations.- The Package comes with everything you need. There is even a very nice quality screwdriver and hole saw just to the exact site needed for installation. I’m suprised they didn’t throw a drill in there too (Just Kidding) 🙂 But really, what a nice touch…show super care for the customer experience.- There is a card in there giving an option to text your name, email and serial number to activate your warranty. Super easy and I don’t know how many times I’ve skipped over registering a product because it seems like a more complicated process. But I did register this product and actually heard back directly from the owner.- There is an installation Video for the Lock, the App and the Gateway…all very easy to follow. In terms of operation:- In a year and a half, the lock has never failed to let someone through the door that had a valid means of entry. At times, when it has rained and someone’s thumb or finger is wet, it is not able to detect on the fingerprint scanner as well. But as a backup, everyone has a code that can be entered into the keypad. And some individual in the house carry the key fob on their keyring just as a third option.- For other types of access such as if we have a cleaning service out to the house, I can either issue a temporary code, or have someone call me when they get to the house. I can then see them on my ring cam and can then use the LockStar App to manually press the Unlock button to allow them into the house.- In a year and a half, the gateway has never failed to send me notifications about who is coming and going, except when it had accidentally been unplugged from the wall. As soon as we powered it back on, notifications started coming through.- The App is incredibly user friendly. I love the fact that I can register a fingerprint / passcode / key fob…to a Name and then know by name who has come through the door.- I’m also notified each time someone is attempting to gain access and is denied…such as a unmatched fingerprint or passcode.I just cannot think of anything that was missed in terms of offering a very high quality / reliable / easy to use product that ensure security while providing peace of mind in know when your family / kids are coming and going at the house. The owner was super thoughtful in every aspect and detail of the customer experience and has shown above and beyond care in just sending a simple text in response to my registration checking in on how things were going with my use of his product. This is a single family owned business and I hope if you read this review you will consider supporting them as I cannot imagine you will find a better product for the price with these same options and you certainly will be supporting a family that cares greatly about their contribution to lives of others because of the care they have put into every part of the process.

I’ve been a little distracted with life and I am just getting to this so apologies to LockStar for my tardiness..Firstly this is my first Smart Lock. I have to admit I was very hesitant to jump into this new method of home security/lock for many reasons which I won’t go into but I’m sure others have felt the same way so I did a LOT of research. I don’t remember how I stumbled onto this company but now that I have, I am so thrilled I plan to replace my other two locks as soon as I can afford it..I used to be VERY tech savvy but there has been so much new stuff that’s come out it’s been hard to keep up and my comfort level with it all has dimmed to say the least and honestly I just don’t have the time to “learn” or catch up on it all. I’m also a very detailed person and visual, so I can get frustrated if things are not explained plain and simply, add to that terms and gadgets that I am unfamiliar with, add a tiny bit of Dyslexia and it’s recipe, for me personally, that makes me want to just not deal with it and stick with the old school stuff. But I hunkered down and dived in and I am sooo glad I did!My experience with this purchase has been one of the BEST experiences I have EVER had…. PERIOD… in many, many, many years and other companies out there need to really take note.. in this day and age when companies want me to check my own groceries, force me to jump through hoops just to get a dang human being on the phone, won’t pay for enough staff to actually give any HELP to a customer when you are actually in a store and other such disrespectful nonsense that I found this company’s commitment to do better, a welcome, long overdue and Delightful Change!Of course with all this being rather new to me.. I immediately had some questions so I could basically just understand all the little intricacies of this new technological marvel called the “smart lock” or “keyless entry” that I had in my hands, opened and spread across the kitchen island :PI had the box open for about 10 mins when I got completely overwhelmed by ALL the stuff that I really didn’t understand.. I thought, Oh crap what did I just get myself into? and immediately thought “this is too much,, maybe I should just abandon this and I was beginning to think it was very bad idea.. lolBut I saw the QR code that allowed me to connect with the company for help and off I went..I was BLOWN away when I texted the help line and immediately got a response. Now in all fairness that first response was a pre-programmed one but not too long after that I was texting with a human being that ACTUALLY CARED! Paul patiently answered all my questions via text (and they kept adding up as I got deeper into the install and set up) and at one point even reached out to me to see how I was doing and if I was able to get things where they needed to be.. I found some of the instructions to be a little hard to follow but again it was almost like learning a foreign language for me and one of the videos that i was trying to follow wasn’t at a very good quality for some reason so when I blew it up so I could see it I couldn’t read it because it had pixilated too much.. Paul patiently walked me through that, sent newer info and a better source that I could actually read. He answered my questions with no hesitation and when I told him about the hard to read graphic immediately informed me that he had let his tech people know there was a problem so they could look into and fix it..My last text to him was about trying to change the notification sound so that I could distinguish it from my other app alerts but that wasn’t a possibility because the app is set up to use the default setting on your phone.. but that he would pass that along to the product engineers for a future update to the app and when I mentioned that I assumed they might have their own “signature alert sound” he said that they didn’t but that it sounded like a great idea! The cherry on top of this whole event? The ACTUAL product is Top Notch quality too!Like I said, as soon as I can afford it… I’m ordering two more to replace my other locks.THIS is the kind of Company I want to support and to find out that’s is actually family owned as well just made my day… !!I can’t thank them enough and I hope they NEVER loss sight of this level of excellence they have established…My only other suggestion would be that I would LOVE to see a companion door knob that would match the lock.. I couldn’t believe how hard it was to find a simple black non locking “passage” door handle that was for an exterior door and wasn’t a latch. Because I KNOW that too will be Top Quality as well!I will recommend this lock and this company to everyone I can because this is the kind of company that the others need to look up too.. BRAVO to you LockStar for showing the the rest of the competition how it should be….For all of you that came here looking for a new smart lock just stop now don’t go any further, put it in your cart and check out! For that matter by one for all your doors and your loved ones doors… You will not be sorry..This is where I do my best Wayne’s World “We’re not Worthy, we’re not worthy” bow and slowly back out of the room… 🙂

We’re seniors so we knew we needed to shop around to make sure we found the best smart lock. Our must-haves were: quality construction, multiple unlocking options, easy for us to install ourselves, and top-notch customer service. Once we learned about all the multiple unlocking options and saw all the great reviews, we felt confident that we had found the right one so we ordered it right away.Once it arrived, we could tell right out of the box that we made the right decision. We could see and feel that it was made with high quality materials and it had everything we needed to install it, no need to purchase anything else, even the Gateway was included which was great bonus. We’re somewhat tech savvy but sometimes struggle with some apps that can be confusing but this one was very easy to set up and very easy to use.Another thing we noticed right away is LockStar’s customer service, it’s exceptional, they go above and beyond to help you and make sure you’re a happy customer!!! We did have a question about the app so we contacted LockStar and was able to get a very quick response from Paul who provided great customer service; it was obvious that he cares about his products and also cares about the needs of the customer. We are also very impressed that Paul has followed up with us several times to make sure we are satisfied and to offer any assistance if needed. We couldn’t be more pleased with our LockStar Smart Door Lock and the exceptional customer service from this family business!!! We have already recommended it to several friends and family. You will not be disappointed!!
