Customers say

Customers find the thermostat fits well and consider it excellent value for money. However, the functionality receives mixed feedback, with some saying it works great while others report it doesn’t work at all. Moreover, the temperature control and ease of setup are mixed aspects – while it controls temperature well, customers find the instructions not easy to follow. Additionally, customers report loud noises at random intervals and issues with thread quality.

Must have replacement for plastic version
If you have problems with the plastic version of this which are often shipped TRVs, don’t hesitate to buy this. The plastic ones are affected by heat and are also slightly flexible even when cold so don’t like to stay screwed onto the valve and often pop off when the acuator is engaged. This product solves that problem completely and everything remains tight and working as expected once installed.

    Excellent for the price
This was to replace a broken Terrier i-temp thermostat to which I will compare.Bad points first – manual is OK, not the best.No mention of the initial motor travel calibration. I found the best way is to install batteries, fit the thermostat to the radiator being careful not to touch any buttons. The display will show ADAP 0. Press the UP button, and the thermostat motor should whirr into life, eventually hitting one limit. It will then reverse direction and ADAP1 should be displayed. When it hits the other limit it will stop and will be ready for programming.Incidentally, some reviewers mention how noisy the unit is – mine is virtually silent.Programming is slow (once you’ve worked it out) as you have to set the on/off times for every single day. This might be considered a bonus as you can set different on/off times for each day if you want! The thermostat does not ask for a date, so it will not automatically change the clock for daylight saving – you will have to change the clock manually. You can only configure 2 temperatures, essentially an “On” temperature (called Comfort) and an “Off” temperature (called economy) which is fine for me but may be unsuitable for other users.Good points – very good build quality – seems very solid and smaller then the i-temp. LCD is clear and backlit.Buttons have a nice positive feel. Most importantly, the thermostat does seem to work very well once set up, switching the radiator off when programmed to do so and controlling to the set temperature. You do have to set the temperature slightly higher than you want, as with all radiator thermostats, it will measure the heat coming from the radiator more than the room ambient. Its good to see it display the actual measured temperature on the LCD and whether the output is on or off, something that the i-temp did not.Overall, for the price, it is an excellent purchase and I am very happy with this thermostat. Delivery was quick too arriving next day.

    Not suitable for bedrooms
TL;DR – Avoid. Buy Honeywell Rondostat-HR20 instead, if you can find it.Good:- Easy to configure (way easier than my Lidl programmable TRV)- Display with backlight which activates after any button press- Suitable for most common TRV locations (at the bottom of the radiator with TRV upright) so one does not have to lie on the floor to read the displayBad – absolutely NOT suitable for bedrooms- Loud – orders of magnitude louder than two other brands of programmable TRVs I own- Failed – after 5 weeks of use – it now makes its noises round the clock, regardless of programmed On/Off periods—- I tried to manually switch it to “holiday” mode during nighttime to get some peaceful sleep, but it still produced loud noises at random intervals, sometimes several times a minute during the very early hours of the morning- Even when it was working OK, when its On period began, it did multiple adjustment noises separated by few dozen seconds . This does not happen with other brands of TRVs I own

Once you get past initialisation and calibration it works pretty well
I almost sent this back because it did not appear to work at all. I spent ages programming the times – but once attached, nothing happened – the radiators did not come on when expected. It comes with a small instructions leaflet -which explains pretty well how to programme the times etc – but there is absolutely no mention of how to calibrate/initialise it.I tried emailing the seller a few times – but the only thing they could suggest was to return it for a refund and order another one – like that was going to help calibrate it.The solution – for me at least – remove the batteries, attach the valve to the radiator and then insert the batteries. When Adap 0 / Adap 1 is displayed on the screen, press the up / down buttons – this should sort out the calibration. You should hear the motor whirring up and down a few times and then it should all work. One other positive, is it seems to have some memory, so you can remove the battery’s and it will retain any programming – not sure how long it will hold the programming – was ok for at least 10 mins for me.

    It doesnt fit.
The thread sizes are correct, but it seems that all the actual valve parts of the TRVs are subtly different, depending on the manufacturer. So this item was not quite tall enough – would not screw down onto the valve properly. Also, seperately, I found that the actual valve on the radiator was jammed – so needs replacing anyway. Definitely worth checking BEFORE you progress. So, nice idea, but did not work for me.

    easy to fit
Does everything you need, controls heating as required. Only issue is the instructions, difficult to follow and can only be read with a huge magnifying glass, due to them being printed on the smallest manual ever.
