I needed some bulbs that were Apple HomeKit compatible, which these bulbs are (also compatible with Matter, Amazon Alexa, and Google Assistant). All of my smart devices are Apple HomeKit compatible and they are a little harder to find. I was very pleased at how easy they were to set up. All I needed to do was follow the directions in the included folder-place the bulb in the lamp, turn it on, scan the QR code on the base of the bulb and add the bulb to the HomeKit app. It was as simple as could be. There are many options for brightness, intensity, color, scheduling and so forth. The only variable that is unknown is whether it might lose connectivity down the line and for no apparent reason. Iâve had older smart bulbs with this occasional issue, which can be irritating as itâs not always easy to reconnect them if they donât reconnect themselves. So far Iâm very happy. Iâll revise my review down the road if I need to.Update on. 3/18/25Well, I may have spoken too soon..just tonight I opened the Apple Home app to turn on my bedside lights, which I did. But within a few minutes this brand new bulb shows up as ânot respondingâ and Iâve tried everything I know how to force it to be recognized including closing and reopening Home, or shutting off my iPhone and restarting it and then I gave up. I manually turned off the light and have gone to bed. I am pretty frustrated. I hope it will magically fix itself tomorrow. Stay tunedâ¦

These bulbs are cheap, and not in a good way.To pair them with your Matter-compatible smart home, you need to scan the QR code. Unlike most Matter smart bulbs, DoHome doesn’t put copies of those QR codes in the instruction manual where you can reach them; they’re only on the bulb… which does you no good when you’ve got the bulb installed in a light fixture… which you have to do before you can scan the code to pair the bulb. You’ll have to write down the very tiny 11-digit Matter code and enter it manually.Once paired, the bulbs aren’t great. The color accuracy isn’t impressive (probably why the packaging doesn’t quantify it). Worse, the dimming function is all but useless. When 1% brightness is selected in Apple Home, the bulb is still quite bright. It’s got perhaps a third of the dimming range of any other smart bulb I’ve tried, and I’ve tried some cheap ones. What’s the point of a smart bulb that doesn’t really dim?The bulb feels very lightweight, which makes me wonder how much heatsink it has. Heat kills LED bulbs. With a lightweight heatsink, I suspect these won’t last that long.The bulb doesn’t meet FTC regulations for light bulbs sold in the United States; the required energy and brightness labeling doesn’t comply with CFR §305.23(b)(2). That’s not a good sign.The bulb lacks safety certification from a nationally-recognized testing laboratory. While light bulbs sold for residential use in the U.S. aren’t required to have a NRTL certification, bulbs from reputable brands do have oneâtypically from UL or ETL. Since these bulbs lack that certification, they can’t be used in a commercial or industrial environment without violating OSHA regulations. Given that these bulbs give off significant heat, I wouldn’t trust them for fire safety.The bulbs state they’re for dry locations only. This means you can’t use this bulb in wet or damp locations like outdoor fixtures, garages, bathrooms, etc. and suggests the bulb isn’t well-designed internally, as most LED bulbs nowadays are damp-rated.The instructions consist of a generic “Matter Wi-Fi Bulb” manual on a foldout that’s two inches square, filled with poor English. If you’re not already familiar with Matter, these instructions will be frustrating.There are far better, safer bulbs around this price point. I can’t recommend anyone purchase these bulbs.

My previous wifi smart bulbs were 5 years old and still worked flawlessly, but I wanted to get away from third party apps now that Iâm using Home Assistant. These new bulbs are also comparatively smaller and lighter, more like a traditional incandescent. I was able to easily add these though Matter with their QR codes in the HA companion app. The colors and brightness are decent for their price and power rating.
