Slimline 1TB External Hard Drive
This hard drive does the job for portability and backup. It has a solid feel, and comes with a short USB-A to USB-Micro B cable to connect with your device. It still uses a hard drive rather than an SSD, although you will pay more for the same capacity in SSD format. As such, it’s fine for most uses, but not as fast as some modern external SSD drives. It works well for back-up and is fairly priced.

Works well as a NAS backup drive
I use TrueNAS with 3Tb storage on an old HP Microserver Gen8. It’s been going strong for a very, very, long time (I know – it’ll probably die with a few days now I’ve written that). Most of my important stuff (docs and photos) are less than 1Tb so I got this drive to keep an extra backup of just that. The drive is small, light and comes with a fairly short USB cable, but that’s all I need for plugging in and laying on top of the server. It works very well for it’s purpose. Time will tell what the life of the drive is like, but at under £40 (at time of me getting it) it’s reasonably priced and gives me extra peace of mind.Thumbs up from me.

Dubious performance claims, when it works at all
The cable supplied with the drive would allow it to power up but Windows would not recognise it and just threw ‘bad device’ alerts. In order to get the drive to work at all I had to use the “USB 3.0 Micro-B” cable from my DVD drive, a relatively uncommon cable that many people won’t simply have lying around. The packaging for the drive claims 100MB/s transfer speeds but my USB 3.0-equipped PC could never get more than 40MB/s sustained transfer out of it. For reference the drive inside the version sent to me is a Toshiba MQ01ABD100 (5400 rpm 2.5″ 1TB offering 931Gb of storage).Lacklustre performance at price that doesn’t excuse it, and effectively DOA for a normal user, I cannot recommend this drive.

It does the job
If you are looking for a new HDD, and you donât want to second hand drive and external enclosure totalling a third of the prices, then this might be the drive for you.The only thing this has going for it is that the capacity is slightly cheaper than a cheap SSD and you get the external enclosure. And it works fine. It has a cheap but modern HDD in that should last a while as it is branded.Itâs priced the same as others and works fine. So itâs doing what it should at an okay price. Iâd only recommend this if you really need a 1TB external HDD and your budget cannot be extended even a bit further for a smaller external SSD that will be way better. It comes ready for consoles as well, so PC users will have to format the drive.

Super slim convenient storage
This external hard drive is extremely slim for a 1TB storage hub. Itâs super easy to use, just plug into a computer, wait for it to be recognised and drag and drop things in.Itâs a solid compact unit, as you would expect a hard drive to be. Itâs not entirely damage-proof but it feels sturdy enough to accommodate the odd drop without compromising the contents.Itâs been a long time since I bought an external hard drive but prices donât appear to have moved on too much, and at under £40 this one seems reasonable for the volume of storage you get.

Works perfectly with my MacBook Pro
A neat little 1TB hard drive.A little smaller than I was expecting (see my pics with a measure).Arrived well packed.I’ve plugged it in to my MacBook Pro, and it was recognised instantly (although it has just a standard USB plug, so I needed to use an adapter to plug into my UCB-C socket).I’ve transferred some files back and forth and it seems to work just fine. Speed seemed fine, although I haven’t transferred anything heavy yetI’m just not familiar with the brand ‘Meyritech’, so I’m a little cautious to use it for storing anything critical, but I think it’s fine for transferring data and temp storage etc…Good value!

Work fine with my PS4
This 1 TB external hard drive performs exceptionally well with my PS4. It’s incredibly user-friendly, making setup a breeze. Its compact, pocket-sized design is not only stylish but also adds a neat touch to my desk. The transfer speed is quite satisfactory, ensuring smooth gaming experiences without any interruptions. Overall, it’s a reliable and convenient addition to my gaming setup.

Outstanding value for money
I sadly didnât read the specifications throughly and missed that itâs not compatible with my phone, I just got so excited with its capacity v price so grabbed it quickly. Although I couldnât us it the things I can say are its well made, the power supply not being needed is a real advantage, the installation should be very easy to navigate and over all itâs brilliant value for a laptop user. In the past it would have been so useful for me when travelling to use as a backup for presentations and meetings.
