How weatherproof are these Outdoor String Lights?
The lights are rated IP65, which means they are dust and water resistant. The outdoor controller is rated IP67 and the power supply unit is rated IP44. Lights cannot be submerged or used in extreme weather conditions like a flood or heavy storm.
How do I hang my outdoor string lights?
Common mounting methods include screws, S-hanger hooks, Q-hanger hooks and zipties. Select the method that best suits your space.

Great outdoor lighting with good app control
Lights look great. Cable is very robust so theyâre really noticeable. Brightness is OK when dealing with whites and blues, but not that effective in the red / green space.Nanoleaf app is good and you can control via HomeKit, but you canât set the various scenes up that way. Nice feature is that it remembers the last setting so no need to keep resetting.Lots of functional and themes in the Nanoleaf app and enough functionality in the Home app to make is easy to set up.With all Nanoleaf products, update the firmware before you do anything. Always releasing new features and making thinks easier to do.Highly recommend.

Nanoleaf do not support their own products
15M Starter Kit + 15M extension using with Apple HomeKit – First ordered and received in December 2024. They worked for a week then failed, only 15M extension cable lit up, not the 15M starter kit with the power supply. Contacted Nanoleaf who took weeks to respond and didn’t advise anything I hadn’t already tried several times (factory reset, removing from HomeKit and re-adding, different sockets etc.). Eventually discovered it was the Power Loss Recovery setting in the Nanoleaf app being enabled that was causing the issues. Set up again and immediately disabled this setting and they worked.Fast forward four months after having them turned off, but not unplugged, since January and they now do not work at all. There is no power to the main 15M starter kit, have tried multiple sockets and resetting. Presumably the power supply block is faulty but as it is a sealed unit there is no way of checking. Maybe it’s the fuse in the plug? But that is also sealed so no way of checking.Nanoleaf support is woeful, taking weeks to respond and not acknowledging faults. Amazon have been great and have now arranged a collection of the faulty lights and replacement ones to be sent out, all within 24 hours. Hopefully the replacements will be better…

Nanoleaf outdoor lights
Lights look really nice The issue I have with them they wonât connect to Alexa this is one of the reasons I purchased them. They connect to apple home so easily but the functions are very limited.Come on Amazon make it work and then i would give them 5 stars.

High quality lights with limitations
These lights certainly feel like high quality LEDs when you pull them out of the box, they are weighty and the cables are thick and substantial. In use, it is also clear that they behave more like LED bulbs than “fairy lights”, so it it obvious what you are paying for.There is a huge range of colours and brightnesses, up to very bright, as well as preprogrammed patterns and you can create patterns of your own – or at least you can use and create patterns once you have mastered the App which takes some doing as it isn’t very intuitive. I didn’t find the music modes (where it is supposed to respond to ambient sound) very responsive.You do also seem to be limited to set patterns and as far as I can tell the lights are not individually addressable.There have been several firmware updates whilst I have been testing these lights which shows that Nonaoleaf are hard at work trying to improve them however all attempts to update to 2.1.27 which appears to be the current version result in failure. [update – after a full reset and re-pairing of the lights I was able to update the firmware]I failed to get the lights working with the Nanoleaf Windows Desktop AppThe lightstring supports Matter over WiFi (Not threads)It is early days for the Matter protocol, but at this point in time it looks like all Home Assistant can do is switch the lights on or off, not specify any scenes/levels etc.All in all, the lights feel and look high quality and I am sure they will improve as will the availability of methods to control them, but just now they aren’t quite there.

First lot had to be sent back but lucky with this set. Used them on my hedge for Halloween and they looked the part under spiders webs plus lots of lights. Good range of colours and quick to switch on and off. I’m still on the fence on nanoleaf products but these are pretty good.

Love how beautiful they look (when they work). Have problems connecting them to Matter and keeping them connecting. Might be product, might be building. Contacted customer service, helpful but still have problem. Had same problem with Nanoleaf light bulbs and then suddenly they never had a problem. Hope itâs the same for these.

I highly recommend that anybody who wants to create a beautiful, relaxing backyard experience to buy the Nanoleaf light strings.Amazon will try to redirect you to cheaper products, but I can guarantee you their reviews are not correct.You get what you pay for !!!Nanoleaf are the absolute best quality and effect that you will be able to buy online and they integrate seamlessly with Apple HomeKit, using the latest connection, technology matter and thread.

Lights are very cool and create great ambiance but I am unable to set scenes in the Nanoleaf app. Keeps telling me to add a device when itâs paired. Scenes will not sync to HomeKit so I cannot automate dynamic lighting effects. App always seems to close or crash in the background so every time you come back to it it has to load. I also have to constantly reload the app because it will prevent me from controlling the light and tells me I need to complete setup.In my opinion, look elsewhere if you plan to use with iOS. I wanted to love this product but itâs so frustrating to use especially for the price.

I really wanted to love these lights! I really, truly did, but I was unable to. First, let me get the good stuff out of the wayOnce I got them out of the box, it was obvious they were very well made. The crystal like acrylic “bulbs” are beautiful, heavy, solid, and surely all but impossible to break. The wires and control box are solidly made, and have DIN style connectors with screw on waterproof covers. I was not pleased with the power block though, especially given it has some obscure Chinese brand name on it, not the products brand. This is always a red flag for me, but not the end of the world. Worse, it was a brick style adapter, plugging in directly to the wall itself, rather than one with a short lead and plug. This is not a good design for a product that will be used outside, where there are rarely more than one or two plugs available (if any). I happen to have an outdoor GFCI outlet with a weather proof cover, which I had installed recently. Unfortunately, it already has one set of low voltage path lights (which do have a 24″ lead off their IP68 power brick. There is little room for more than two cords plugged into the GFCI receptacle box, which are them led through a silicone seal on the bottom to prevent water intension. As a result, there is NO WAY for the included power brick to be plugged in without an adapter extension, which would expose 120V to the environment. This would clearly be a bad thing in the rain or otherwise if water were to get in the adapter. This is a major design flaw and unacceptable in my opinion, so I took one star off for this.Next was the real reason I returned this product and will not likely consider this brand again. The app and set up was a bloody mess. It talks you to scan the QR code on the set up guide, install the app, and plug the strip in. I did so, and Android promptly saw the device using Matter. As the instructions said NOTHING about what to do at that point. I let Android set it up. It worked, and I was able to turn the light on or off, or change its color to a single color – default Google Home lighting control settings. However, I was not able to set any animations or anything, so I opened the app. It did not see the lights. I was confused by this as it made no sense. I tried to add it, and it didnt find it. I did find insteuctions on how to reset the control box by holding the power for 10 seconds, and that did work, and I was then able to add it to the app, but I was not able to ever get it to connect to WiFi. I went back and forth for over an hour, deleting the device from Matter in Home, and from the app, re-adding it one way or the other, in various sequences, over and over, and verifying I didn’t have a brain fart and forget my network password, and on and on. I searched all over Google, the brand website, and so on. I did find SEVERAL mentions of people on Reddit and elsewhere who had similar problems.The thing that pushed me over the edge was when I tried to contact the company for support, and there is ZERO phone support, and chat support had some stupid messages that they were updating their systems and support would return in May. Well, it is May, so… Reddit comments were filled with complaints about not being able to get a reply via email support for two or three weeks, so I made the decision that at this premium price, if the company can’t have premium support, VIA PHONE, then they do not deserve my money, and returned it.I want to add that this is not a unique experience with these Chinese LED companies. They all seem to be this way. The only company that has not being a massive pain in the but has been Hue by Philips, a Dutch corporation. Yes, I am sure their products are made in China, and that is fine, as long as the company stands behind their product with accessible support. Nanoleaf does not, and so this is likely my first, AND LAST, experience with the company.

Iâve had String Lights for many years. I bought some from my local big Box orange store. If you know you know. At the time they seem to be the most high-tech that I could buy that had three color modes and the only way to get to them is to power them off and power them back on and that was OK. Then I saw Nanoleaf was planning on dropping theirs. Yes Iâm a Nanoleaf fan boy. I have tons of Nanoleaf products. They just work and seamlessly these in conjunction with the permanent lights by Nanoleaf. Makes the house perfect when it comes to year-round, lighting and seasonal lighting super bright able to see it across the golf course. I canât wait to spend winter nights out on the patio, enjoying the String Lights and all their different colors.
