I have a NEEWER USB microphone on an older, cheaper arm. I liked the mic, but the arm had these noisy springs and was generally a pain to use. This arm, however, solved every complaint I had. Itâs made of far more rigid construction, the knobs to adjust are larger and easier to use, and it even comes with adapters so I could continue using the existing shock mount I had which used a larger threading than the standard 1/8â. This arm stays in place, is silent when you move it, and is generally fantastic for the money. My only complaint is that the actual desk clamp does not have the same flexibility with respect to the lever you use to secure it. My desk has solid walls and the lever kept hitting the wall. I was able to work around this by mostly securing it at the corner, sliding it in place, the finishing the clamp down. But to be clear, this is mostly an issue with my desk. It just wasnât an issue with the old arm, which had a sliding lever so you could do half turns, slide the lever, then half turn again.

I have been a fan of the NEEWER brand for several years now. Every other NEEWER product Iâve purchased has been an excellent value, offering a highly functional design, very good build quality, and competitive pricing. Given that background, I expected more from this mic arm. It works ok , but many things about it are sub-par, and they bother me just a bit every time I use it. I will probably end up trying another arm, such as the more expensive pneumatic version of this product (the MS002).Here are some examples of the problems I have with this MST002 model: 1. The desk clamp tightening handle is fixed to the threaded bolt, so you need to be able to rotate it a full 360 degrees around the bolt in order to tighten and remove it. This doesn’t work if the clamp is being pressed against a vertical wall on your desk. Other desk clamps Iâve used allow you to reposition the handle on the rod so that it is possible to tighten the clamp with only 180 or even 90 degrees of rotation. 2. The mounting rod on the arm piece that slides down into the C clamp is a very tight fit, requiring far too much force to get it to slide down into the sleeve all the way. Yet 3. it lets the arm wobble a bit, even when tightened as much as possible. 4. I had to tighten a few of the bolts that hold the side surfaces of the arm pieces to the joints, and I had to loosen the bolt that lets the upper portion of the arm rotate horizontally relative to the lower arm. 5. All of that tightening and loosening required using hex wrenches that were not supplied with the product. 6. The Damping Knobs provide a lot of adjustment play with very little impact; loosened all the way the joints are still stiff, and tightened all the way they still give a bit too much. One plus is the cable management system. It works very well, and results in a nice clean looking installation.

This microphone arm impresses with its immediate rigidity and its surprising ability to support heavy microphones with ease. A standout feature is the extra-wide base, which I greatly appreciate. Unlike other arms I’ve used with narrow bases that would loosen and slip over time, this arm has remained securely in place without any loosening during weeks of use.The construction is robust, with almost every part made from thick metal, reinforcing its rigid feel. Despite this sturdiness, it provides ample adjustment options to position your microphone precisely. Furthermore, the magnetic cable management tracks are a fantastic addition, ensuring a clean and organized setup. My only minor reservation concerns the microphone attachment point; this specific joint is somewhat stiff and hard to adjust due to significant resistance.

This is my first microphone arm, and I’m very impressed with the robust damping system. I chose this for its versatility, and love the five-axis linkage. I use it with the heightening pole so I can change it up to hold my DSLR camera, Android phone, or webcam. Eventually, I’ll settle on a configuration I want to keep, but versatility was important to me. The magnetic cable chase is a very nice detail that will keep my desk looking clean.

I’m actually shocked at how great this mic arm is! The upgrade has been fantastic for me since I had just been using the included tripod the microphone came with for a long time. It’s so nice to be able to have my microphone up and off my desk. All the hinges have been great so far, they hold their position perfectly until I loosen them, and then it’s easy to move the arm around to where I need it. I also really like that it has cable management built into the arm, keeping my wires clean. And it’s really cool too, there are magnetic plates on top that can easily be taken off to access the wires, and then the just snap back on when you’re done. Super great design! The motion of the arm is really great too, I was worried the arm could really only swivel on the horizontal axis, but the upper half of the arm can rotate on the vertical axis so I can get the height just right depending on how I’m sitting that day.Honestly, 10/10, I love this mic arm so much! I just wish I had bought it sooner!
