Still Heart Broken
A while back I managed to let a plastic tub fall on my vintage MacBook laptop and the result was a crack on the top plastics on the hinges and across the front of the screen. Thankfully the screen itself wasn’t damaged and the backlight works, so the machine is usable but it goes to show how important protection for your laptops are, even the older ones that feel like they’re a brick.We recently got the MacBook Air, 2024 model and it fits perfectly. Knowing that it’s protected while not in use, with a nice shell around it means with a little luck if anything does happen untoward, it won’t be damaging yet another laptop.The bag itself is pretty nice with it’s rubberised hard shell exterior, large zips and built in carry handle and a nice chunky strap if you want to go courier style.Inside you have a slip for the laptop and a strap to secure it in place and some netting above for your charger, adapters, memory card/harddisks etc. Although the netting isn’t that stretchable, so you shouldn’t be able to over fill it to the point of damaging your laptop when closed/zipped up.Not sure about the ‘spill resistant’ waterproofing claim and I’m not about to test that out, but it does seem like it’d be good for it, but do be aware that the zip can be a little hard to use because the rubber folds over to keep it ‘sealed’ from water.It is a little bulky, it doesn’t feel as nice as the cloth slip covers but you are going to be getting protection with this if you drop it or things on it and that’s the point here

Solid protection and functionality with a sleek design
Well, this is quite the laptop sleeve or really bag that looks and feels really robust as well as a bit futuristic. Made of premium thickened EVA material it has great shock absorption and offers what appears to be very reliable protection against dropping accidents plus it is waterproof too so perfect when going back and forth to the office.My Dell is a little bigger than this bag is designed for yet I am able to use this regardless which shows how versatile the bag is. The main compartment securely holds my laptop with a velcro strap, while three mesh pockets on the other side provide ample space for chargers and cables. With an almost full opening with double zippers ensures quick access to your laptop and other items so no scrambling about – love this.The NIDOO laptop sleeve offers solid protection and functionality, its price point feels slightly high however there is a lot of quality packed into this bag and it feels like it will last so over all its priced well. The build quality is good, has a sleek design, with multiple carrying options. So as reliable protection for your laptop, this bag / sleeve is a solid choice.

It’s smaller than you think. You can’t fit the laptop and it’s power supply in at the same time. That would also be true of any tablet.

Semi-rigid (not hard) case | Handle stitching isn’t the best
This NIDOO 14-inch hard shell laptop case is less ‘hard shell’ and more ‘semi-rigid, slightly flexible’. The material is like a form of TPU-meets-silicone, but with more rigidity. Materials like TPU/silicone are flexible, can absorb shocks, and can be blended with other materials to stiffen the flexible material up. None of which is a bad thing. However, as a ‘shock absorbing, rugged case’ would be a more accurate description, to call this a hard shell is erroneous and part of the reason why I have deducted a star.The above out of the way, this is a nice feeling case. Moulded like a proper rugged tough-box but feeling soft like silicone in the hand is a good thing. None of the corners deform under mild pressure so the form should hold up in general day-to-day use.Inside, everything is as you’d expect for a laptop case with additional sleeves and compartments. You will also find inside a long strap which you can clip on and use as a shoulder strap.The main carry handle is the second part of my reason to deduct a star. The stitching shows signs of skipped stitches, poor slignment, and – most of all – the stitching is not done in a way that will last. The handle is the hardest working part of any case as it is handled the most. You can see an attempt has been made to reinforce the straps, but again, the stitching lets this down and will give way eventually. Because of the single line stitches used, once any thread starts to go, it won’t take long for the handle to unfurl. Keep an eye on it if you do buy.tl;dr – not quite a hard hard case but a very robust one nonetheless.

Solid case – a little bulky, but does the job.
Well sown with good quality fabric. Very solid and great protection against impact damage. The inside is well lined with a solid interior to prevent scratches. Very modern looking and great for thin laptops. Not sure about the waterproofing on the outside – it’s more water resistant for rain and light moisture.Still very good quality for the price. Much prefer this sort of bag over the laptop sleeves I usually use.

Its a good size for a variety of tablets and small laptops and holds them securely in place.There is protective cushioning inside besides the compartments which can hold various attachments but probably not a full sized power supply. I have packed a slim, fully charged power bank in mine as that is much slimmer and will suffice to keep things running for several hours if necessary.It can be fully opened if required. The zips do need a little more pressure around corners but feel sturdy enough to cope.
