Tiny, no Neutral – great for old fashioned UK wiring
This is a very neat solution it fitted inside the switch box (MK External switch) and connected easily to the Sonoff Zigbee hub. I now have timer and remote control via the app – which can make the lights come on at a certain time including sunset +/- but the switch also still works as a physical switch (although up/down now depends upon the state of the sonoff device.Other solutions were not as small, needed a neutral wire or allowed some “ghost” current through – this has none of these issues.

Simple to fit and work well.
Amazing solution to anyone who wants to add automation to a light switch that has no neutral wire. Makes it easy to do at the switch rather than messing around in the ceiling to find a neutral. You may need a deeper pattress box though.Works well – connected up using Home Assistant without any issues and so far have been totally reliable. A very slight delay when using the actual switch but with a reassuring click. I’ll be buying more of these based on performance so far.

Works perfectly with my light switches that have no neutral wire
Our light switches have a live wire in and then a wire out to the light with no neutral. This works perfectly with and still allows us to use our normal light switch as a dumb switch. You connect the live in to the relay “L In” connector and the wire to the light connects to the “L Out” connector. To add your dumb switch, connect the L1 to the L1 on the switch and the L2 to the Comm on the switch. The relay will follow the status of the physical switch while also allowing use independently of the switch. This means the switch can still be operated even if there relay loses connectivity. The relay does not allow you to switch on or off while it is in pairing mode but once it is out of pairing mode you can configure it for use via your Zigbee Hub and app or by pressing the physical button on the Relay. The relay is quite loud when clicking on and off and there is understandably a noticeable split second delay when using it.I’m terms of size they are no bigger than a £2 coin but my back boxes are only 16mm deep so they would not fit behind my switches without either digging a deeper back box or buying a back box extender frame. They advise not to use them in metal back box as they reduce range but I’ve had no issues with this.I purchased a 2 pack, one was faulty and kept disconnecting from the zigbee hub and amazon compensated me for this.I have the relays connected to my Home Assistant server via Zigbee2MQTT and it works well. I have an automation linked to a Zigbee button so that I can use it as a secondary switch. They are a fair price but you don’t save much by buying them as a bundle. You can also purchase them directly from China via a popular Chinese drop shipping site for considerably cheaper if you are willing to wait an extra week for delivery. This should be kept in mind when considering value for money

Tiny magical device
A little piece of magic. Tiny device, comes in a miniscule box. From opening that box to using it as a light switch in Alexa was less than 10 minutes when using an Echo 4 as a Zigbee hub. You don’t need to add an additional app or service, it just gets discovered as a “plug” which you can then configure as a light. The instructions tell you to install Ewe link, but you don’t need to.The device takes two wires for power and two wires for switch, but in my application (a loft light) I don’t need the physical switch. The connections feel secure and the device is overall well made.I’m replacing a BroadLink light switch which needed both a hub and an internet connection. This needs neither.

just works as intended. easy to integrate but small size = small antenna = low range
LIKES:The size is great (about a chicken Nugget) it could possibly have been a little thinner? but I replaced the pattress box that it fits into.Ease of installation. Theres no negative – so you simply turn the mains off, unplug the legacy manual switch, plug the switch with new wires into the other 2 ports and refit, then turn the mains back on.Legacy switch position – if your used to the switch rocker being in a certain position you can turn it off by Zigbee, put the switch were you want it , then switch it again – well thought out.SLIGHT NIGGLES:As I said in the headline – small size = compromised antenna = minimal radio range performance. My Sonff ZigBee co-ordinator was quite a long way away (200ft – behind 2 breeze block walls, through a terraced garden and into my attic under roof tiles) I needed a ZigBee router to expand my coverage at that distance – My garden topology is not really the devices fault – so not going to mark it down. once the ZigBee routers were sorted – flawless performance. but needs to be born in mind neverthelessANNOYANCES:Honestly? thus far? None!Hope this helpsThanks for reading

Great idea but difficult to install and then failed!
I’d been looking for something like this for a long time and when I purchased it I was excited to see if it would work. The wiring instructions were difficult to get to grips with but with some advice from a friend who is an electrician I managed to install it and it initially worked. Connecting to the wifi was a nightmare! It is 30 cm from a wifi extender that only broadcasts in 2.4 and yet it took ages to eventually connect but regularly lost connection. Then the relay appeared to stick and the manual switch stopped working. These things happen and all I need is a replacement or refund so I can try again….but all I get is a list of long complicated questions that would be suitable for possibly an electrician or engineer but not me. In fact they come across as being them trying to fob me off.I would be extremely cautious of buying this because in my experience it was difficult to wire and has proved unreliable with poor support.
