Nice functional cable or wiring tester
This cable tester works with RJ11, RJ12 and RJ45 connectors so it’s suitable for phone or data/ethernet applications.You can use it either for testing patch cables (e.g. if you have made one by crimping on connectors, you can check that everything is wired correctly. Alternatively you can use it to check your building’s wiring by using the remote unit at the far end.It apparently supports testing of PoE setups as well, although I wasn’t able to test this as I don’t use that function.Overall, recommended.

This item works well and will save you a lot of time. I had a cable that wasn’t working right and I didn’t know which side was improperly crimped. Or if there was a problem in the cable! This device has a test mode that will let you check that your crimp is okay. And it also has a mode where you can connect the smaller part to one end and the bigger end to the other and it will check the entire cable end-to-end. This lets you figure out if there is a bad crimp, on which end, or if its a bad cable. Saves a lot of time re-crimping.

An electrical contractor ran ~100′ CAT6 cable and I had to add the RJ45 connectors myself. Needless to say the cable failed to work initially. But this tool helped me identify crimp issues w/ the connectors so I could fix the cable. Money well spent.
