Light, Simple and Worth It
I picked this lens up for a bargain price and honestly, itâs great value â especially when you consider you can find it even cheaper second-hand. That said, I prefer buying things brand new, as I tend to keep and use my gear for a long time. So it made sense for me.What I love about it:⢠The size is hands-down the best part. Itâs super light, compact, and easy to carry.⢠Itâs what some would call plastic fantastic â yes, itâs not premium, but it does the job.⢠Itâs not a fast lens by any means, but on a bright, sunny day, it delivers decent results.⢠Most importantly, I knew exactly what I was getting and bought it for what it is â a handy, lightweight telephoto I can carry without fuss.I canât even imagine lugging around a full-frame 300mm lens all day â it just doesnât make sense for casual walks. This lens is a brilliant compromise for that kind of use. My full-frame 300mm has spent about 70% of its life in a bag over the last five years⦠meanwhile, this little one happily joins me on a walk.No regrets at all â itâs a practical, everyday telephoto thatâs easy to live with.

Impressive performance just missing the full 5 stars
Incredibly light (193g) micro four thirds lens that Iâve been using on my GH6. The 40-150mm focal length on this lens equates to 80-300mm in 35mm equiv.Optical performance for it price point is very good. It does suffer with some edge and corner softness at 40mm but once past about 60mm this improves dramatically. At 150mm it captures impressive detail and sharpness, with very little chromatic aberration. Portraits are impressive and with fairly decent bokeh possible.Whilst not a master of any one thing, for its price point itâs a very light, compact and versatile lens. Why not 5 stars? Well on the lens supplied to me there is a bit of flex in plastic zoom ring and whilst the AF is impressively quiet, in MF the focus ring has a subtle but slightly annoying squeak.

Nice lens for travelling
This zoom lens is so little and lightweight yet good quality, sharp in the middle, slightly soft in the corners

Perfect for a beginner!
This lens is perfect for a beginner – which is precisely what I am, and why I was so pleased to give this lens a shot! It came with lens caps for both sides, and I was surprised by how lightweight it was! It certainly didn’t feel cheap, but I’ve felt camera lenses with a lot more heft to them. For me this was definitely a bonus, since I don’t have a huge camera bag, and my camera is already decently heavy.I really enjoyed testing it out and taking pictures with it! The image quality – to my, non-professional eye – was really good! The pictures looked sharp and even when I zoomed in I thought the colours looked great. I found it quite versatile when I took it out with me to take some test pictures. It has a range of 40-150mm. So I was able to take some really good zoomed in pictures, but also felt I was able to get a decent angle up close. It really impressed me!All in all, I was really pleased with this! I feel for the price, it’s a really good option as a beginner lens! I know there are pricier, better options out there – but, for what it is, I’d really recommend!!

Affordable OM system lens
Good entry lens option for OM system cameras or compatible Micro Four Thirds (MFT) cameras.Itâs a great option for beginners or amateurs, offering a versatile focal range of 40-150mm, which equates to 80-300mm in 35mm terms. While designed for the Olympus OM system, itâs also compatible with other MFT cameras. Itâs useful for outdoor photography, with apertures ranging from 4 to 5.6.At just 193g, the lens is light and easy to carry, making it practical for travel or extended shooting sessions. it delivers sharp detail with minimal chromatic aberration. Portraits turn out nicely, with good bokeh for a budget lens. The zoom ring has a slight flex due to the plastic construction but that’s expected for the price. The 40-150mm range is flexible, making it great for wildlife, sports, and other distant subjects. However, itâs less suitable for wide-angle or street photography, where a shorter focal length lens, like a 20mm, would be a better fit for most photographers.Overall, this is a well made entry priced lens, ideal for those on a budget or just starting with Micro Four Thirds cameras such as the OM system line of cameras. While itâs not a pro lens, it offers excellent value for the price and would make a fantastic addition to a beginnerâs kit or as a lightweight backup option.

Great entry level lens
The OM System M.Zuiko Digital ED 40-150mm F4-5.6 is a tele photo lens firmly aimed at the keen amateur photographer. It is light (approximately 190g) yet appers to be quite rugged. It comes with front and rear lens caps and a lens hood. With a variable focal length (40-150mm), it equates to 80-300mm on a full-frame camera. Aperture ranges from F4.0 (at 40mm) to F5.6 (at 150mm).It supports autofocus and manual focus but lacks in-built optical stabilization. In low light the lens does struggle a bit, due to its smaller aperture, leading to less light entering the sensor. This does affect the sharpness and increase noise, especially at higher zoom settings. In natural light conditions the lens offers crisp and detailed images with good colour reproduction. This lightweight and versatile MFT lens is ideal for travellers and enthusiasts alike.
