Customers say
Customers find the sprayer effective for weed control and appreciate its value for money. The build quality receives mixed feedback, with some finding it well-made while others say it’s not robust enough for commercial use. Assembly instructions are criticized for being sparse and difficult to read, while the straps are described as terrible and not securely attached. Moreover, the sprayer leaks and becomes quite heavy when full, though it gets lighter with use.

Very effective sprayer, a joy to use! Think about the weight when deciding which model to buy if in doubt go smaller.
We have two smaller pressurised sprayers with a 5L capacity made by a well-known manufacturer with a reputation for quality. Both of these have developed leaks that are beyond repair and I made a decision to pay more money and get a more professional sprayer. I also wanted a larger capacity as we were constantly refilling the 5L sprayers half way through the job. This Oregon sprayer is a fair bit more expensive than the competition on Amazon, but I know that Oregon is a semi-professional/professional brand with a good reputation, so I decided to spend the extra money in the hopes of getting a sprayer that will last longer and perform better. The sprayer comes in 16L or 20L capacity and I decided to go for 20L. Now that I have used it, I wish that I had gone for 16L. Iâll get to that later in the review. I took everything out of the box and that is where the fun started. The sprayer needs a certain amount of assembly and the instructions are virtually useless. Come on Oregon, it should be fairly easy to write a decent set of instructions. Many of the people who purchase this product will struggle with the assembly! Anyway, I assembled it after a bit of trial and error; see the attached video as I filmed the assembly for future buyers. Assembly does not take too long if you know how to do it, I reckon about 15 minutes. There are two different nozzles with the sprayer, a fan and a spray. Oregon also supply a few spares with the sprayer, a spare seal for the pump and several rubber washers and O rings.I filled the sprayer with 20L of weed killer mixture and lifted it onto my back, only to feel the weed killer running down my back. The pump was loose and had not been tightened. This was not part of the assembly as the pump was already fitted at the factory. I tightened it up and this solved the problem. So, be aware that everything needs checking for tightness before using it for the first time. This was obviously partly my fault, but it was certainly not mentioned in the instructions.Lifting the sprayer onto my back was not particularly easy and took a bit of jiggling about to get my second arm through the strap. Once it was on though it felt secure and reasonably comfortable. Unfortunately, I have arthritis in both of my shoulders and this made it a little uncomfortable to get on. I had a real job getting the pump lever down as it was fixed behind my shoulder, but I managed to unhook it with the spray gun.A few pumps of the lever and the sprayer was up and running. At that point, I realised that I had made a good decision. The fan spray was fitted and it was spraying up a storm! What a lot of coverage for very little effort. Two or three pumps every 20 or so seconds and it was so easy. The lever is in just the right position and as soon as you feel the pressure dropping off, you automatically pump without thinking about it. So in use this sprayer is a joy! The fan gives a wide spray and saturates anything in its path. I then changed the fan nozzle for the spray nozzle and I prefer the spray as you have a little more control over where the weed killer goes. I think Oregon should incorporate a means of keeping the second nozzle on the sprayer somewhere, so that you can swap if you feel the need whilst working. I reckon most users will end up losing or misplacing the other nozzle. After a while the sprayer begins to feel a little heavy. You need to be pretty strong and fit to use this for any length of time. 20kg plus the weight of the sprayer is a fair amount to be lugging about. I know guys in the army do it for a living, but most people will struggle after half an hour or so. I wish that I had gone for the smaller 16L model, 4kg less would make a fair bit of a difference, so think about what you are prepared to carry before selecting the one you want. My advice is to select the smallest if you are undecided. I can manage with the 20L, but would prefer the 16L.I love the sprayer. It is a joy to watch the weeds and especially the brambles getting covered in weed killer! The sprayer is very effective and covers large areas very quickly. It does not seem to use huge amounts of liquid too and the tank lasts a long time in use. No more mixing weed killer every 20 minutes! The sprayer feels good and I have confidence that it will last. Time will tell. So far I am glad that I spent the extra money. If it fails prematurely, I will come back and update this review. For now, it gets 5 stars.I hope you have found my review helpful.

Solidly made. I’m impressed.
I ordered a large Hozelock sprayer but, despite being promised delivery in a few days, it still hadn’t arrived after two weeks. I cancelled the order and bought this instead – and I think I’ve landed on my feet. This was half the price of the Hozelock. And it arrived within 24 hours.Oregon seem to have a good reputation for things like chainsaw bars, so I hoped that they wouldn’t allow their name to be stuck on the side of some flimsy rubbish. Now that I have the thing, I don’t believe that they have.I have all the spatial ability of a moth, planning its escape route through your lightbulb. I still found the assembly instructions simple and easy to follow. No tools are needed, although there are two split pins to splay which is easier with something hard than with a finger… but a teaspoon would do the job. It looks to me as though one could fit the handle on either side, to suit both left and right-handed people. When I read the other reviews, I thought that I was getting a 20 litre model and I was a little disappointed when the 16 litre arrived. This was foolish of me, I hadn’t done the maths. Fully charged the 40 litre model will weigh over 45 lbs. 16 litres is heavy enough and, to be honest, I think I’ll mostly fill it no more than half full for the majority of jobs around the garden.Mine came with two spraying tips. One seems to be a conventional pin-hole, the other creates a wide but short spray pattern. I tested the latter and was very pleased: weedkiller comes out at quite a rate, but in a very controlled wide band. I had a large area sprayed in no-time.A nice touch is that Oregon provide some spare O rings and a seal. It probably doesn’t cost them much to do this but it gave me the impression that they may be more thoughtful than many other manufacturers.I am so glad that the Hozelock sprayer failed to arrive in time: I cannot find anything to fault with this device.

Simple and comfortable to use.
Took much longer to arrive than I expected but, it is a long way from China. Surely GB could produce these? My previous knapsack sprayer was UK made. It was reasonably priced. It arrived, well-packed in solid box, mostly assembled but with a few pieces to be installed, e.g. the pumping arm. This was straightforward, requiring only a couple of re-alignments before fitting the securing clips.A few initial design criticisms:1. There are no clear quantity markings on the container. Easily achieved this first time but should have been part of construction.2. The straps are held at the side on the bottom. In my view, these would have been better fix at the back.3. Given the amount of liquid, straps should have had better comfort supports. My advice is to wear a padded top or use something inside the straps for comfort.4. Bottom shoulder strap fitting should have been better designed.5. I still have not figured out how to secure the spray handle holder, so, at the moment, it hangs loose, a bit of a nuisance.Do NOT assume everything is securely tightened on the pup handle side. Once it is fitted, tighten the top to ensure tight seal.Updated review after a FEW USES WITH VARIOUS LIQUIDS.1. QUANTITY MARKS – are visible when there is a dark liquid in use. Dots and dashes are additional.2. STRAPS – Not great but can easily be improved by some foam or a thick towel underneath.3. BALANCE – with approximately twenty litres – half full – the balance is good.4. PUMP & HANDLE – In use, the handle is in an ideal position and the pump works very effectively.5. EXTRA KIT – The box contained a small plastic bag of additional pieces – rubber seals, washers, different sprays, etc.6. SPRAY LANCE – This is a good length and with the pipe from the reservoir allows effortless spraying.Despite its country of origin (or because of it), the sprayer is simple and comfortable to use. Worth the money.

A little difficult to put together, the pictures were blurry and only black and white. But once i got it together, it works great. The shoulder straps are cheap, but it works. Good value, but not great quality.
