Viner –
Tricky for beginners, a lot of faffing around to get it to work with the remote
Firstly, as this drone has a camera (and is below 250kg), you will need just an Operator ID which you can obtain for £11.79 which lasts a year. It takes just a few minutes to apply for one online. Once you have got this, do take the opportunity to get a Flyer ID too – a simple test that is free and is super quick to complete. Once all done, write/print your Operator ID onto a small sticker and stick it on your drone’s body. Very simple, and is absolutely required. With that out of the way, I found it quite tricky getting the drone to work with the included remote. I did pair it with my iPhone and found it does pair simply, but I prefer using the manual controls – it just failed to recognise the controller, and only after about 20 attempts over two days did it finally respond to the controller.I spent an hour or so just practicing with this in my garden at very very low levels (less than my height) just to get used to the controls, and they do seem very simple. There’s handy keys for auto take off and landing, and it all just makes total sense. Quite easy to control really.I am still getting to grips with taking good video via streaming to my phone, so will update this review with hopefully a super cool take off and panning video. It’s quite a nice kit – it comes with a carry case, spare blades, detachable proximity sensor, three batteries, and charger.I just hope connection between controller and drone remains stable – I’ll be back with an update shortly!
