I’ve used these for years. Typically these signal tracer pairs are pretty much indestructible, do one thing, and do it very well.This is a decent copy of the signal tracers you have seen and used for decades, with two main differences:1. The plastic housing these are made of is a very brittle, cheap plastic. It will not survive a drop onto a concrete floor. I don’t expect them to last long.2. The switch to change the tone sound is buried inside the unit and requires a tool (not included) or disassembly to change. WHY?It includes batteries, but to insert the batteries, you have to disassemble both units – and each unit requires a different type of screwdriver. WHY?Getting the battery into the tracer unit with the wires tucked away and the (very brittle, fragile) battery door in place was an exercise in frustration. But that was nothing compared to the frustrating effort required to get the screw back in. The screw used for the battery door is the same screw used to hold the unit case together, and there is a non-captive nut on the front that first must be replaced. It took me several minutes to get that thing in there so that I could screw it shut. Just an overall horrendous design.Once I got the batteries installed, the unit tested as expected and worked just fine. The signal generator has two LEDs that will show if a connected phone line (two lines supported) are in the correct polarity.Overall, for the price of this unit, I would have expected much higher quality. This unit has bottom-of-the-barrel quality, the cheapest possible manufacturing.Who is this for?- Telephone and cable techsPros:- It works- Tracer is quite loudCons:- Abysmal design and quality- Extremely cheap, brittle plastic cases
