Flimsy but very useful
The tool feels cheap and nasty but for the price it is well worth it as professional version would cost ten times more. I have a boundary signal cable running around my property and it became broken in the woods. I could not find the break but this tool enabled me to locate it. Where the cable was underground the signal was weak and hence a very quiet tone in my ears and I found it difficult to follow the cable when there was any disturbance such as the noise of a car going past or plane flying over.

Very good piece of kit
For the low cost I was slightly sceptical about what the performance might be. I had âlostâ a couple of alarm cables that I had previously built into my house. However after simply connecting the tone generator to the end I still had, it was easy to follow them beneath the chipboard floor and find the other ends. It also worked perfectly identifying an individual cable in a bunch over a distance of 20+ metres. Overall a useful item to have in the tool kit.

Very positive
Works well. Easy to use and I was able to trace the cables

Cheap quality but does work
So this tester is made from cheap plastic, it feels cheap, it looks cheap and I imagine it will probably eventually break in my tool kit, but it was cheap and it does actually work very well. You get what you pay for and I am happy with this purchase.

Terrible product
Possibly the worst cable tracer I’ve used. The button on the receiver fell out after one day. Picks up interference more then the signal from the transmitter. The supplied test leads are flimsy and not up to the task.Frankly I would stick to the more expensive brands such as Greenlea and Fluke.

When I bought it, didn’t know what to expect, I had about 30 cat6 cables (all open ended) all over the house. The contractor didn’t label them. This thing worked like magic and picked up the right cable instantly! All I did was to crimp at least one end with an rj45 to plug it. No sure about other cable types.
