Reolink doorbell WiFi version.
Easy to install, easy to read and understand the information booklet. I have given the doorbell battery a full charge prior to mounting. I was concerned at first that a thief might find it easy to remove the device but in the booklet tells yo how to release the device from bracket, don’t loose the tool inside the box, as this is needed to help remove the device. On setting up the device for the first time, the device asks you for WiFi address and password followed by setting up the individual device password for extra security. The quality of the build is very strong and robust. Good sound and video quality on playback. On playback mode you can filter for either; vehicles, people and parcels. PIR detection is really good for motion detection. On night time playback on black and white video, really good quality.Overall really good doorbell, really quick at response time from the camera detection of a vehicle, person or parcel to the Reolink app and video calling through the app.I brought this on a really good deal, so for me value for money is really good.Highly recommend this device.

Battery drain issues when used in a multi-camera setup
Updated review (4 stars) 02/06/2025:Sadly I returned the Video Doorbell 2K in the end as while Reolink support acknowledged the problem they unfortunately couldn’t provide a timeframe when the issue would be fixed. That said, Reolink were great in arranging the return for refund / credit even though it was outside the return window as I’d bought it last year in the BF sale.I updated my review to 4 stars on that basis as it’s great that a manufacturer stands behind their products and genuinely wants to ensure that the customer is happy.I’m going to keep an eye on the Video Doorbell 2K reviews and keep checking the forums to see if the problem is resolved in the future,Original review (3 stars) 14/03/2025:I bought this in the BF sale last year and only recently got round to install it to replace my old Ring Video Doorbell 2 (was waiting for the subscription to expire). While this is a somewhat negative review, I’ll start by saying that I love Reolink gear, I’ve got an RLN36 NVR and 15 of their cameras in total, various models and in general they can’t be beaten for features, quality and price point. The new Video Doorbell 2K is also a great device in principle, good quality and loads of features. I’m using it on a 24V AC power supply (the original mechanical chime has been removed) to keep the battery trickle charged and via 5GHz WiFi. All good so far.Since installing the doorbell though I’ve found the battery drain is terrible. I understand that generally speaking battery life is always a compromise between settings on the device, so tweaking the PIR sensitivity and other adjustments can help. However, there’s IMO two problems with the doorbell as it stands. The first is that when it’s awake, it no longer charges the battery from the wired PSU. The reasoning for this is that IF you have a mechanical chime installed (i.e. the mechanical chime is providing power to the doorbell) then keeping the doorbell being charged from the PSU while the doorbell is awake *might* activate the chime, which would obviously be unwanted behaviour. That’s fine, but I don’t have a mechanical chime installed, just the PSU, so there’s no reason why the doorbell shouldn’t *still* be charged in my particular install scenario. The second is that while the doorbell obviously has to wake up when you intentionally view the live stream via the App, desktop client or in my case the NVR monitor screen, it also wakes up even when not *intentionally* viewing the live stream.By that I mean that if you view a different camera on the App, desktop client or NVR monitor screen, when you return back to the matrix / grid view of all the cameras, the doorbell is “refreshed” along with all the other cameras, forcing it to wake up, even though you do not intentionally wish to view it.The result is that in the space of a few days, the battery is entirely flat because the doorbell spends far too much time being awake (when it won’t be charged) and not enough time being asleep (when it would be charged).Currently I’m waiting for Reolink to confirm that these are indeed bugs and that they intend to fix them, else I guess I’ll be looking at raising a return for the doorbell. As a side note, the old Ring Video Doorbell 2 operated fine in exactly the same setup for many, many years – I only decided to replace it so I could ditch the yearly subscription and move to a local NVR integrated doorbell.

Not a video doorbell, just a camera sending notifications!
I bought this to replace my Ring doorbell following the hiking of their monthly charge. As I have numerous Reolink cameras connected to a Reolink NVR it made sense to get a Reolink video doorbell, big mistake! My idea of a video doorbell is one that ‘rings’ the phone when the button is pressed – allowing the user to immediately connect with the caller and see them on the screen. This doorbell will only send a basic push notification to the phone, which the user must then interact with to get it to open the Reolink app and connect the video stream. Yes – it can send a ‘rich’ notification (just a basic notification with a picture) if you subscribe to their monthly plan.Functionality is then reduced even further if the doorbell is connected to NVR, meaning to get the best out of it one has to run it as a standalone camera and use a MicroSD card in the camera for recording events. If Reolink make a doorbell that ‘rings’ the phone when the doorbell is pressed (as most other video doorbell’s do) then I may try it again, but for now it’s being returned as unsuitable.

DESCRIPTION OF POWER SOURCE IS WRONG.
Works but not always even after sensitivity adjustment the product description is INACCURATE, if you decide to purchase and fit a transformer all this will do is trickle charge the battery it is NOT an independent source of power, I informed Reolink support about this and they agreed that the description was wrong and they would be changing it, they have not, so buyer beware !.As of the 06/04/2025 the description remains unchanged.

Very clear picture over good range
Excellent, many settings to play with. Only thing to add would be the ability to record the couple of seconds before the doorbell is triggered by pir.

Great Reolink product, does not record 24/7 to an NVR
The build quality feels really good and it doesn’t appear cheap and tacky. I can connected the doorbell relatively easy to the Reolink app. That’s quite a good range of view from the camera however it does make the image quite a fisheye lens in appearance.I connected the doorbell to my Wi-Fi and found the doorbell on my NVR system. It does record to the nvr as well as the home base option and SD card. The only problem I found is that it doesn’t record 24/7 and only records when motion is activated. The other issue I faced was that when it was linked to my echo show it was intermittent as to whether the footage would load. The other problem I found is that when the footage loaded on my echo show and I tried to answer the doorbell on my phone it would state I could only talk via one app at a time. This is probably just a software issue and I’ve explained this to Reoink support services so I’m confident it will be fixed in an update in the near future.

One of the best doorbell with features never seen in other doorbells but…But there is a problem which i am discussing with Reolink is that this new 2k doorbell the below don’t work which maybe a new firmware needed of a but with the current application need to be updated.1. Says format successfull but SD Card still not formated.2. Album shows empty so you can not delete unwanted captures.3. Wide view doesn’t work it flips but picture still small n not Wide. The rest is 100% perfect ð and the best of that u can limit the detection area so card and people passing far are not detected, the detection will tell if it’s a person or a car.I may return this product becuse Amazon seems they couldn’t fix my problem because the DoorBell was from Germany

Good: No cloud subscription, works with existing chimes, easy to install, camera is of adequate quality. Seems to drip charge off the existing wiring. Supports a wide range of voltages from the wiring.Bad: Really needs better API and integration possibilities (for example to work with Home Assistant, or Apple HomeKit – to do that you need the Reolink hub). Notifications seem really hit and miss, sometimes we get them, sometimes we don’t, sometimes we get too many – at least the doorbell always works. App is the usual badly developed poor UX from China nonsense. It’s a little too easy to remove.
