    Mostly all good
Was very unconvinced by the benefits of a camera door bell. It was our local Police force who recommended their use in the local press due to parcels being stolen of door steps. So took the plunge and went with the brand leader Ring did not want a battery version and picked this up on offer. Was easy to set up just drilled an hole in the frame and stapled the cable around to the plug (I used cable staples) and fitted in the same place as our old bell push. Set up the app (first on my phone to set up then added it to the wife’s phone (mistake she can see the tools coming in the house lol)) followed the simple instructions and we were up and running. Once you set the motion zone to your needs it picks up most things including the neighbours cat in the middle of the night but happy given car parked next to the door so added security for house and car. Also added a chime (at extra cost) which is located in the back porch so we can hear it in the garden (it is very loud) if someone is on the drive or at the door. Ok the cons. You need to subscribe to the ring cloud £25 one off so around £2 a month to keep footage if needed. Sometimes the bell will ring on your phone but struggles to connect in time to answer it. This could be a phone or network issue more than the bell itself but still an issue given the advertising shows connecting anywhere, anytime which is not the case. Overall: would I recommend it YES and I will be getting my OAP mum one to link to the Echo we got her so she can see who is at the door before she answers it and get alerts on her phone if anyone one is on her driveway.

    Works perfect
Brought to help keep and eye on the driveway along with being a doorbell, have it connected to both mine and my husbands phones which works amazing, looks great and the sound is perfectly loud enough to hear even when upstairs, great value for money and the night vision works great

    Excellent purchase
I bought this video doorbell and it arrived with a power adaptor, rather than a transformer to hard wire in the device – which in fairness it does say on the box. I therefore bought a transformer so that I could hard wire in the device as I had a pre-existing powered doorbell. Hardwiring is fiddly but is achievable if you watch enough YouTube videos or if you pay an electrician to do it. My concern was that the device HAD to be used with the enclosed power lead but that is not the case, it can be hardwired in. No other reviews made this clear so hopefully this will be helpful for someone with the same question I had.Picture quality is very good and the motion detection is equally good. I have alerts set up on my Echo Show and Echo speaker so when the bell is pressed I hear an audible notification through these devices.Definitely a good doorbell option if you’re able to hardwire the device.

    connectivity Issues
I I bought this after reading Which reviews and Amazon reviews, it wasn’t cheap but seemed to be worth the money to get better quality. I installed it using the mains adaptor provided with it. I bought an angle bracket separately to get the best angle for the camera, shame Ring don’t provide it with the doorbell pack. The installation was OK but as we have a porch I had to drill through a door frame then exit via the side of a brick wall. The set up via the app should have been straightforward but it took a few attempts to get the Ring wifi network to connect. Eventually it was set up and working. I connected my wife’s phone as well and linked the doorbell to 2 Alexa speakers, it all worked, for about 4 hours! Then it disconnected. I had had enough by then. The following day I tried to reconnect it. I spent over 3 hours trying everything, sometimes it found the wifi network but would not connect, sometimes it found nothing, I read the troubleshooting advice, powered the router up and down and tried many of the suggestions, to no avail.I found some suggestion ridiculous, re-siting the router nearer the doorbell, impractical and should be unnecessary. I had a strong wifi signa on my phone outside the house and all the other wireless devices work fine in the house with a strong signal. A suggestion to donwgrade the router speed from 5.0 ghz to 2.5ghz is ridiculous, why would you want all your other devices working at a slower speed to accommodate a doorbell! I tried the Ring online help but it just kept referring me to other articles.I feared if I ever got it working again it would regularly crash and cause problems. I uninstalled the bell and have returned it. I now have holes in my door frame and brickwork and am out of pocket by £15 for a bracket which is of no use to me. A frustrating and disappointing experience!Update:After looking for alternatives and more research I bought the Ring 3 doorbell which has enhanced Wifi and support for 5.0 ghz as well as 2.4ghz. I installed this along with a WiFi range extender. It worked first time and has been fine since. I would recommend the model 3 over the 2, albeit more expensive. It is a shame Ring don’t offer more support on selecting the best product for your situation. I have upgraded my rating from 2 to 4 stars. It would have been 5 without this experience.

Good quality / sharp video image / responsive
I was umming and ahhing on this one for a while but decided to get this model – I have not regretted it! Quite easy to install though I opted to get my electrician to install the electrical side. I connected it to the app which was straight forward and easy. Works a treat. A couple of notes though:1. If you are planning to place this at an angle (like me), buy an angle mount which I didn’t do but have done nowhttps://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08YXFJLP3/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=12. If you get a blue light around the button (once you first install it), it is because the battery hasn’t been charged. Leave it for 3-4 hours to charge then the light should turn white (which means it’s ready to connect to a device).Setup is a doddle and the notifications are instantaneous which is just what I wanted (this is internet dependent and we run 100mbps).
