Dont forget the battery, otherwise great set!
The crimper is great, works as expected and managed to create cables easily, do not forget to undo the safety on it though, (the small metal pin that slides back and forth. Also for the cable tester get a battery as its not included, a 9V PP3 (basically the RC car battery) will work fine, or make your own battery out of AA ones. At least its not an integrated battery so will have a long life. The plugs themselves are nice, easy to slide through and the guide in them seems to be stable enough for any sort of cable, tried flat cat5e and cat6 utp both worked fine with the crimper. includes a wire stripper, the one that you spin on your finger, but I prefer my proper wire stripper. Though it has a punch down end so that might be useful!Overall lots of tools in one and its a necessity to make proper length cables and not be fondling around with 15meter cables in a 3 meter run. plus shorter runs = better attenuation, (not like you could feel the difference..but still)

It does what it says on the…
I was an Electronics Engineer in a previous eon, but I never had to terminate any Ethernet cables, so I am a beginner at this.I first practiced on an old Cat5E patch cable with 26AWG cores. I had a h*ll of a job getting & keeping the cores in the correct sequence.I abandoned that, and used an offcut of the outdoor Cat6 cable with 24AWG cores that I needed this kit for.It worked a treat. The stiffer cores sat up and behaved properly when I inserted them into the pass-through connectors provided (and yes, I remembered to put the boot on first). The crimp was solid and the cable tester proved I hadn’t messed it up.In sum. Yes I am happy with this kit.

Crimp fails
Excellent customer service. This crimp tool looks great and is easy to use, as is the cable tester. The features of the device are good like the cut with crimp capability.Unfortunately after just a few terminations the crimp function no longer works properly. Pin 1 fails continuity on the rj45 terminations and I now have to use an older crimp tool to reliably terminate my Ethernet cables.Itâs too late to return the device but they refunded me.

Better quality than i’d imagined!
Very impressed! Well built and quite dinky in size. Tester is simple and does the job fine. 5/5

We have these crimpers at work, and I always reach for this pair over others when it’s time to make cables. It does everything well. Unlike some other crimpers, there’s no need to line up wire lengths to the edge of the connector because this one trims the excess cleanly upon crimp. It does phone jacks too. It has cable cutters. Crimp mechanism is strong and pleasantly tactile. Handy A/B diagrams inscribed on the jaws help remind wire order. The pair at work has been there for years before me, and still works fine so I had to get my own set and was pleased at the low price. It also comes with a simple LED cable tester that can help track down issues when you suspect a bad cable, as well as 50 glass ends (RJ-45s) to add to the pile.

I had a crimper that wouldn’t work with pass-thru connectors so I bought this kit. Not only did it solve my RJ-45 crimping problems, but included a tester so I could verify they were wired correctly. Even the seemingly marginal plastic stripper does a great job of cutting the cable jacket without nicking the wires underneath (note: only spin it once, then pull!). Very satisfied!

This crimper set is a good value for someone that is a hobbyist or only installs connecters here and there. I’ve only put on 8 connectors so far, but it crimped every one of them perfectly. I tried some non-passthrough connectors, too, and found that if I started to squeeze the handle gently, the blade for cutting the wires on passthrough just started to catch the connector, but I then pulled the connector back just a hair’s width so it butted up against the blade, then finished the crimp…perfectly. Before buying this, I borrowed one from our IT lab at work that probably cost 3x-4x as much, and yes, it felt a bit “beefier”, and maybe a little bit more comfortable to grip, which may be important if you’re putting on many, many connectors in a row, but functionally, I’d say this one works every bit as well as that one at a fraction of the cost, making it absolutely perfect for home / hobby use in my opinion, and maybe even for work. It also feels solid and looks well built. As one should expect, how well the sheath cutter on the crimper works depends a lot on the sheath thickness/diameter. I had some cable with a pretty thin sheath and the wires got nicked, so I had to strip that cable by hand, but on the more common cables that have more typical thickness sheath, it strips fine without nicking the wires.Zero complaints about the crimper so far, and I like that it came with an extra set of blades. After I’d finished all 8 connectors, I did notice that one of the blue plastic grips had slid a little (maybe 1/4″ at most), but it’s no big deal. The cable tester works fine. It’s not some high-end piece of test equipment, but it’s absolutely fine for a basic wiring connectivity check – what you would expect for this price. My only complaint (which is hardly a complaint given the price) is that it is difficult to get the 9V battery into the tester after snapping on the connector. If the opening was just a mm or so larger, it would be much easier. But really, how often are you going to be replacing the battery…if you remember to turn it off when done.

Crimper works Great. If it noes not work for you are not using correctly. You have to squeeze the handles HARD Twice
