Cheap, but still worth having.
All the bits in this set are definatly cheaply made, but they (Mine at least) all worked flawlessly straight out of the box.It’s hard to justify paying a premium for tools if you already own older versions of them, so when I fancied seeing if pass through RJ45 connectors really were easier to assemble than the closed RJ45’s I’ve been using since 10BASE2 stopped being the norm, I didn’t want to spend £40 on something that may be no better than the £100 tool I bought back when the hair grew from my scalp (Rather than out of my ears and nose). I chose this set because it also came with the correct passthrough plugs and some plug boots, so there was no question of it being an unfair test by me somehow buying the “wrong” RJ45’s. Another set of side cutters are always handy to.Anyway, This set just worked for me. The passthrough plugs really are easier to assemble, and this set contained everything I needed (Bar Cat5e cable) to make up a few new long LAN cables and repair a couple of my older spare ones that had lost the clips off their plugs. With the cost of pre made network cables, the kits 30 quid price tag is actually worth it even if you only need to put new plugs on a handful of your old cables.I can’t tell how durable this set will be, and it’s probably not going to last as long as my old set has, but if you’re not making ethernet cables 24/7, this kit is probably perfectly fine for 99% of hobbyists.

Great value kit
I was setting up a new office and needed to make up a few extra long temporary cables for setting up security cameras. The cutters worked a treat on the Cat6 cabling, the connectors were good, useful that you see the cable protruding from the end to double check the order is right. One of the cable ends I made up the crucnchdown and cutting part of the tool left some longer ends, but maybe as I didnât push it home properly. Overall good value kit.

Does the job.. Minor cons and required a few tries
We’ve been wanting a wire stripper for a while as our rabbit got into our wire cupboard and chewed a couple of my network cables. It’s great to have this now, although we did have a few troubles using it.Pros:⢠Good ergonomic design⢠Easy to follow instructions⢠Handy wiring diagram on the grip⢠Worked after a few triesCons:⢠On a CAT5 wire, the blade doesn’t come into contact with the wire casing (the wire is too narrow) properly so it doesn’t cut it⢠Crimp tool didn’t cut internal wires first time⢠Missing LAN tester in oursBrand=====================I’ve not heard of the brand before, and they don’t seem to specialise in this sort of thing, so sometimes it’s a gamble as to whether you’re going to get a good product or not.Comes with extra bits=====================It comes with everything you need, including the crimp tool (with 2 spare blades), wire cutters, 50 pass-through plugs, 50 plug covers, and a little wire stripper. It also came with relatively comprehensive pictorial instructions.Our box did not come with a LAN tester as listed unfortunately which was probably a mistake, but still a bit frustrating.How to use=====================Luckily this comes with good instructions and pretty much everything you need. We had to do it a couple of times as the first time we did it we had a few issues and the cable didn’t connect properly, but after a few trial runs, the long and short of it is…:1. Cut the wire to the desired length with the snips2. Strip the casing to reveal the internal wires (the crimp tool cutter was too big so we used the small strip tool)3. Pop the little blue connector protector over the wire4. Follow the wiring diagram on the crimp tool to ensure correct mapping5. Push the wires into the little individual holes in the plastic plug6. Squeeze the crimp function to cut the excess wire and press the plug closed7. Push the connector protector to the plug to keep it altogetherThe main issue we had the first time is the crimp tool didn’t cut the internal wires properly, but the second time it did so perhaps we used it wrong.Verdict=====================This is definitely a useful tool to have. It didn’t come without some frustration, and as per mentioned we had a few issues with the connection not working but we got there in the end.We’re now able to fix and shorten our LAN cables so that’s perfect, and know what to look out for if they don’t work the first time and now we’ve done this a couple of times we’ll know what to do next time.So, for first-time beginners at this sort of thing, I can’t give it full marks due to the issues and missing tester, but it does the job so it’s alright for the price.

Good value and handy to have.
Decided to buy this item as I needed to make up some leads and run in cat5 cabling. Easy to use, had to adjust the cutting blade slightly as it missed a core. Set up and works a treat. Liked that the plugs and shrouds were supplied with it. Would certainly recommend this product. At the price it’s better than borrowing a tool and it’s always good to have in the toolbox.

I bought this to wire up my POE CCTV system. Having done the job with cheap wire cutters in the past, these made the job so much easier. The provided pass through heads and the multi function cutters were a game changer.Main unit seems well built and even provided replacement blades.

Very Good!
It works amazingly well.My Dad used it to make up a bunch of cables and he said it works really well, better than his old set which are showing there age now, but they are 15 years old!The only thing he said wasn’t great is the “Stripping” part as some cables even though they are Cat-5, Cat-6 etc are thinner than others and if they are a “Thin” cable then this would struggle if not fail to “Strip” the cable.Other than that he was very happy and said he would recommend them.
