    A good powered USB HUB
A good powered USB HUB providing enough power for a number of devices at the same time – a couple of external drives, a couple of specialist Flight Simulation devices and also managed to charge phone as well. Don’t usually need to use that many different devices but wanted to test if all will work at the same time on the hub as they do have a considerable power drain and will not work all together on a non-powered hub. USB HUB performs very well – Data transfer speed is also satisfactory and stable to both USB ports and SD card readers; power provision is good and stable to numerous devices attached at same time – at the very least I didn’t have any problems. Power supply to the hub does not get hot or make any sounds during prolonged use. USB HUB Unit itself also does not get hot. Very handy to be able to turn off ports without having to unplug devices.Feels sturdy compared to previous model – USB Hub Powered RSHTECH 7 Port USB 3.0 ( https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07KFGY2CR/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ), which I also own. There are a couple of features that my personal preference is against, I can’t hold this as negative for the product as it is just my personal preference. USB Hub performs satisfactorily and I encountered no issues. The things I personally didn’t like are -1. the buttons, they feel sturdy and are sufficient – however on previous model they were a push-in and then push-out type for power on and power off. I like those better to be honest and they made a satisfying click. On this model there is a very small input and the buttons are harder to press, they are quieter making less of a click – one press turns the port on and to turn it off you have to press and hold the button for a second or two. Easy enough to get used to but I prefer the more ‘clickable’ buttons on the prior model. I also preferred the placement of the buttons on prior model – they were on the same top side next to the actual USB port; on this newer model they are on the side and this makes it a little bit more awkward when using the hub flat on a desk. Your preferences regarding the buttons may well vary the other way around, overall they work fine and appear sturdy which is the important thing; I can’t really mark the product down due to my own preference – as long as the buttons work reliably and they do.2. The USB cable for connecting the HUB – it is very nice that there is an included USB to USB-C / Thunderbolt 3/4 adapter and this is very useful. A negative is that this cable is now built into the USB Hub unit (photo included), it is no longer a simple pluggable cable on the hub as in prior model – so if something goes wrong with the cable, that’s it for the hub – unlikely that something would happen by accident to be honest as the cable looks very sturdy (you would probably have to work intentionally very hard to destroy it) but my personal preference is to just have a pluggable cable…. makes it easy to set up on desk too if crowded with equipment, sometimes it is just easier to unplug the hub from the cable rather than unplug the whole cable along with hub from PC. The power cable is still pluggable into the hub (it is not built in) and I am happy with it and the power adapter itself.3. Bottom SD card reader (below the micro-SD card reader) – works fine, just that you have to insert the SD card ‘face down’ (photo attached) to what you would normally expect. Micro SD card reader above it is the normal way ‘face up’ as you would expect.Other than those, which are my personal preference the unit works fine and as expected, it also feels very sturdy overall. Delivery was very quick and ahead of schedule, HUB unit has been in continual use on my desk for two days so far with no problems encountered.

Excellent quality hub with genuine 10Gbps speeds
The RSHTech hub is a great little device. The first thing I tested was its performance. It’s advertised as supporting 10Gbps, the fastest speed possible by the USB 3 spec. I have a few NVMe SSD drives and using the hub they hit their maximum speed of 1000MB/sec. (I used DiskMark to test.) The hub did not slow them down at all.The hub clearly indicates which ports support 10Gbps – two USB-C and one USB-A ports. It would be nice if all 7 support this top speed but I don’t have 7 drives that achieve 10Gbps, so in reality having just 3 top-speed ports suits me fine. I have a few 2.5″ SSDs in enclosures that can run up to 5Gbps so the 4 ports rated at 5Gbps are perfect for those drives and also high-end USB memory sticks. The hub’s cable is fairly long and reaches from around the back of my tower PC up onto my desk. I was really fed up with other hubs that have ridiculously short 15cm cables. This one is probably a meter long which is perfect. (I don’t have a tape measure handy)Each of the 7 ports has a ring of silver around it which looks very smart – a neat touch of style. :-)There are 2 rubber pads underneath the hub to help it to grip on a table or desk. There are individual buttons on the side of the hub for each port to switch it on or off. A quick press turns it on and holding it for a second turns it off. This can save you the trouble of pulling out a USB plug if you want to disconnect a device to “reboot” it or make it invisible to your computer. The mains power supply ensure there’s enough juice to keep 7 connected devices working smoothly. When I plugged my phone in to charge through the hub, it went into “fast charge” mode saying that it will take 50 mins to go from 70% to 100%. When I plugged my phone into its own mains charger it said it will take 40 mins. Although the hub is receiving 24W of power it’s probably limiting how much each port can have to ensure there’s enough power left for other connected drives. This isn’t a problem as I always use a dedicated phone charger for my phone.Overall this is an excellent quality hub and I’m pleased my time consuming examination of dozens of products led me to choose this particular one. It’s an excellent performer and nicely constructed too.

    Fantastic, with one flaw
A fantastic hub, providing power to 4 2.5″ hard discs attached with no issues. Also works with a TV stick that did not work through a previous hub.It is sleek and very well built. That one flaw – other reviews mention it – the fact that the USB-C ports are in a recess will severely limit the cables you can use. Most of mine don’t fit. If you tend to buy high-quality USB-C cables they’ll likely have larger plugs, which wont fit.I found one that does and it works fine. But it’s an unnecessary design flaw that limits the cables you can use.Still highly recommended, with that one caveat.

Ser proffsig ut. Metall chassi.
