Stunning results, easy to use.
What a great little gadget. I was able to digitize my 35mm slides and negatives with ease. You need to download a free app onto your mobile phone which is very easy to do. You’ll also need a couple of AA batteries and then off you go. Simply lay your phone on the top and take pictures as you would normally. As normal just make sure it’s in focus and looks good then snap away. Of course the results are only as good as the settings on your phone. Make sure you have your phone set for the highest resolution for the best results. There is a little holder you can slide you negative or transparency into. There is a backlight so your phone can pick up the image clearly. If you have other size negatives such as those from instamatic cameras you can simply lay them over the back light and still get great results. Any bigger negatives you will not be able to get the full image but you can manipulate the negative around the backlight to get a partial image. Once you have taken the picture the image is automatically downloaded to your phone. You have the option to upload them to Google photos too. When you view your images on the phone you can drop them and fix them how you want. You can do this on the app while taking the pictures if you want but I chose to download all my images first then drop them later. For the price this is brilliant. See the images I took. A mixture of slides and negatives.

Great little gadget – why spend more?
I just had a few slides to scan, so didn’t want to spend a lot on a proper slide scanner, but thought this was worth a try at under a tenner – and it is! It’s very simple and easy to use – just line up your phone camera on the hole, slot in a slide, and take a photo using your phone’s photo app – don’t bother downloading their app. Then just crop the photo to size, and you’re done! I had to leave off the 5th star, as the on/off switch was broken on mine, but I couldn’t be fussed to send it back just for a few slides, so opened it up and repaired it, and it’s fine. Very happy with the results, and it’s as good, if not better, than the dedicated scanner I used to use, which was now too out of date to use on my PC. Quick, easy and efficient – just a dodgy cheap switch lets it down.

Flimsy and the on/off light switch was broken, complete rubbish
I ordered this smartphone scanner as I had a lot of 35mm slides and negatives to scan and I am lucky to have a smartphone with one of the best cameras going. Delivered and I inserted two AA batteries. I then tried to switch the lighbox on. However this was impossible as the on/off switch was broken and was below the level of the surrounding casing. Even using a tiny screwdriver to move it from off to on had no effect and no light came on. To add insult to injury I cannot return it via my local neighbourhood post office and must drive over 5 miles to a post office with an Amazon counter. This really was the last straw. How this shoddy and flimsy apparatus can be sold for this price is a disgrace. Utter rubbish. Avoid this manufacturer and model like the plague.

Works well and excellent value
Other reviewers have complained about the on/off switch lacking robustness. It looks like this has been addressed since the switch on my unit is a standard slide type with the look and feel you would expect. I found my phone did not offer enough resolution but with the top platform being removable, I was able to support the base which holds and illuminates the 35mm slides in a small music stand and use a digital SLR camera to photograph the slides. All in all a good value device for digitizing slides.

Great Idea, App Needs Updating for Muti Camera Phones.
Not at all good for using device with the better multi camera phones as if the app is using the wrong camera and no way of selecting different one, but with single camera phone like Iphome S6 or Samsung S7 works at a reasonable quality.App has lots of option too to edit photo taken.Would have been 5 stars for price and if could you a better camera via new phones.

Fabulous quality images for the price and easy to use
I found a ton of negatives – both black and white and colour – from a road trip I made in the 1980s to the US recently which I wanted to convert to digital images so I could make a photo book for my best mate (who made the trip with me).. I did a bit of online research and this seemed the most cost effective way to do that without paying exorbitant photo lab costs, etc. The device is very easy to use with the app (I’m a ‘can never be bothered to read the instructions’ personality type, so the fact they were so intuitive was very helpful!!) and produced some lovely images. Admittedly they’re not super high definition, but they had a great vintage quality that really worked I think in the book – and you can use filters in the app to make the colours, contrast etc really pop. And tbf given my abilities as a photographer the originals probably weren’t that great. I would highly recommend this device if you want to do something similar.

Does the job.
Some older card slides didn’t fit the slot. Compared with buying the more expensive dedicated slide to digital machines (£70+) this is a less expensive option but still very expensive for what it is. Fiddly to use and requires photo processing after taking photos on smart phone it just about does the job but I wouldn’t recommend it for use with more than a 100 slides. That works out about 30p a slide!

Great gadget, but not the app.
The tiny light box is well lit and even, though not sure what light temperature it is, you have to experiment with your camera of choice. The app suggested was useless for my mobile, wouldn’t zoom or focus so I had to use a different, free app. Not allowed to say which one, but they made film.4* for the gadget, and so easy to use.Nil point for the app suggested.
