This is an excellent usb c hub, that I highly recommend. It gives you the option of charging your 12″ MacBook whilst still giving two usb 3.0 ports as well as a sd & micro sd card slot. The only criticism I would give it is it gets extremely hot, nothing worrying enough to damage your device, works very well, space grey compliments the space grey MacBook very well but there is a slight colour difference, I highly recommend it

I have read plenty of bad reviews about this device. It is not intended to be left plugged into your mac at all times. When I need to read from, copy from/to or transfer to or from a USB, I connect the hub – and at no other times. It is true that the main body of the device could act as a lever to potentially damage the connection port, so care should be taken to follow the manufacturer’s instructions just like with anything else you buy. I left it plugged into my mac for 20 minutes with power supply and a USB (many times longer than it needs to be for how I use it) and it barely got warm. So yes I’m happy with it, yet had I read the reviews prior to ordering, I probably wouldn’t have ordered at all.

Overheats and disconnects….
I’ve had this product for just over a year. Initially, I was impressed with the look and seeming quality. It did the job, I thought it was a reasonable price, although it heated up a bit.I am very disappointed to say, it appears I was wrong. After being initially impressed I discovered it was starting to heat up to quite a high temperature so much it cannot be touched whilst in use. A year in and now it constantly disconnects any usb/charger connection that is plugged in. It’s impossible to transfer files/data onto memory stick and it’s starting to smell slightly on the burning side of hot!I would suggest your money is better invested in a different product that is long lasting and won’t burn you!

I was a little sceptical about ordering this product as I had seen some negative reviews from a few people. My experience of the product has been perfect!! The colour match to my space grey MacBook Pro 2016 15″ TB is almost perfect. The build quality is very good, I did at 1 point put a micro SD card in and got it kind of jammed, but it’s only happened once and was probably my stupid fault!The file transfer speed has been magnificent and I’m yet to have a problem with the device. I always like to use only the best accessories with my Apple Products, and I have to say this will be staying in my bag of goodies.I have added some photos for you guys to take a qucik look at too! (I have not edited any of the images, the colour matching is as is!) I wanted to add a few images with it plugged in because I wasnt too sure how good the colour matching of the prudct would be before i purchased it, so hopefully this will helkp you before buying!

I read the reviews on this device and believed them to be quite bad, however, after using the device for a while, I must say bravo. Unfortunately, however, it is not perfect, for starters, I ordered Space Grey, I got Rose Gold, but could not be bothered to ask and go through all the hassle.This product get’s really hot at times, even hotter than my own Macbook Pro 2016 15″ (for everyone wondering).Although it get’s hot, it is still a really good piece of hardware, one way it could be better is adding an HDMI port to it as well, I really like how it flows with my Mac, even though it isn’t Space Grey, it still feels like it is a part of my Mac.In conclusion, I would sort of recommend, if you urgently need something for your Macbook Pro, this hub is portable, nice-looking, and affordable.Good job Satechi.

This combo hub does work and matches the colour of the computer – so it looks good . . . BUT every thing is hanging on the one power socket and I feel in time this could well damage the power socket on the MacBook and or the plug on the Combo Hub. So in my view the design is not good as it is open to damage.

Great and seamless addition.
This dongle is almost flawless coupled with the new macbook. Aesthetically it feels like it is meant to be there and is much more sophisticated than the messy cables apple offer.I only have two issues with this:- the usb-c connection to the mac is very loose and feels like it may easily snap at some point down the road.- no hdmi/display port of any kind. Whilst I accept that this would likely increase the cost they should at least offer alternative combinations of ports so you can choose what will suit your lifestyle.

Style over substance.
The idea behind this product if great, the colour matching to the 3 Macbook models is brilliant, but unfortunately the actual implementation is flawed.As the single point of connection to the Macbook is so small and is offset to one side it has the problem of a lot of pressure being put on the connector, which in my case at least led to the adapter constantly disconnecting from the the Macbook.This was apparent whether sat on a desk or on my lap and makes the device pretty much unusable.I have since returned the item and gone for one with a cable, but admittedly fewer connections.I may have just had a faulty unit as the version of this device without the USB C pass through for charging seems to review really well, but I would not purchase again.Seems very much style over substance for me.

I bought this hub because it offered a combination of connections that suit my needs. I wanted to be able to read SD cards from my camera and be able to connect an outboard hard drive or memory stick.I matches the color of my MacBook and connects solidly. The performance seems to be good.There are a few caveats. I bought the hub along with an Urban Armor case. They are shown together on an Amazon page as “frequently bought together.” The may be bought together, but they cannot be USED together because the thickness of the case prevents the hub from plugging in to the computer. Not Satechi’s fault. In fact, the fit without the case would not be good if the connector was a little longer.I also have an Apple adaptor the provides a charging port an HDMI port and one USB 3 port. Not as versatile as the Satechi. I guess I’ll be taking the case on and off a lot.I have read that a reviewer had an SD card damaged by the hub. It is important to realize that the card is inserted with the label down. The picture of the hub shows two cards with the labels up. This misleading as you have to flip the cards over to insert them. While I did not damage my card on the first attempt, I can see how it might happen.This hub offers a combination of connections that Apple does not and I like its design.

works as advertised. Most importantly: unlike the IVSO hub adapter that only claims it charges the MacBook while also connecting the USB devices, this one actually does it! I was able to connect to two portable HDs and do a hard-wired back-up while charging.OtherWorldComputing is advertising a nice USB-C hub for three times the price of this adapter; though it appears to be more complex, their promised delivery has slipped from September 2015 until today, and still counting…The only drawback of this adapter is that its physical connection to the MacBook, via the USB-C port, is flimsy. One has to be careful not to disconnect it by the sheer weight of the 3 cables attached to it….

Shipped fast. Very light. Matches the space grey macbook and is a great alternative (and cheaper) then purchasing each adapter separately from apple. I will say it feels a little flimsy once plugged into the macbook but as long as you handle it gently it shouldn’t be an issue.

Love this for my Samsung Galaxy Book! As there is no USB slot, this is essential for this tablet. It’s very compact but still allows you to connect several devices of varying types. Also love that it has a USB C slot so you can charge your device if there’s only 1 USB slot. Great product!
