Problem? – Sorted!
I purchased the charging dock, along with a Fire Tablet, for my birthday at the end of December 2018. Product worked well, but a little after 3 months the dock stopped charging my tablet. I contacted Amazon customer support only to be told that the 90 day warranty had run out and there was nothing they could do to enable me to have the dock repaired, even though I was willing to pay for the work. After a lot of discussion I was contacted by a representative a few days later and told that a replacement show mode dock would be shipped out to me. I began as an frustrated customer and ended up as a very satisfied one! My one star rating has been updated to 5 stars! Well done Amazon!

Value packed Show 8 for the bedroom
Got the show 8 to use as a bedside clock effectively and to replace a show gen2. Itâs obviously a smaller footprint so frees space on the bedside table.Although smaller, the show 8 still packs a punch in the sound department, with a similar output to its bigger predecessor, the sound quality isnât comprised.I use the dusk to dawn screen blanking which shows the clock at all times and with a command or a touch reverts back to full screen viewing.Using Amazon Photos gives a continuous rolling photo frame of your favourite pictures as well as news and weather updates.Highly recommended, small but packed with big tech is an added welcome to our growing hime automation collection.

Almost a great product
This is so close to being a great product. On the plus side the clip-on cover is easy the attach and remove from the tablet and once fitted adds little weight or size so the increase in bulk is hardly noticeable. The show mode is an interesting addition which, allied to the charger, provides a sensible and useful place to store the Fire and gives you the bonus of adding an Echo Show to the features for free. The stand allows you to position the screen for watching TV or movies, as a bedside radio alarm clock or for typing. The real bonus though is its primary use as a charging dock allowing you to use the Fire anywhere and then recharge it without plugging and unplugging the lead.I have an ancient Kindle, but age now demands a brighter screen, hence the Fire, but in all these years have never had a problem with the mini USB, although some people obviously have so the doc solves that problem. In theory, once plugged in, it never has to be plugged in or out again, and for some people, no doubt, that is how it will be used.Using the dock as a holder, of course, also means that the Fire is pretty well always fully charged and ready for use.I said it is almost a good product though, and I think it has one failing. The unit only protects the rear of the Fire. The clip-on cover gives no protection to the screen and the addition of a protective hinged flap to cover the front when the fire is not in the dock, perhaps when it is being carried in a handbag or rucksack for instance, would be useful.I am not a lover of screen protectors. They are a nightmare to get completely flat or without bubbles, soon look grubby around the edges and are a pain to remove completely and clean up the screen if you decide to replace them. I much prefer a case which is where the problem arises with the docking station. As it is, having to take the Fire out of its docking holder and fit it in a protective case then reverse the process for charging if you want to use the dock seems a somewhat long winded approach and means the mini USB connector and the socket get much more usage.Leave the Fire in the protective case and it can’t be docked so you don’t really need the docking station, just use the charging lead supplied. Leave the Fire in the docking case and it means you can use the docking station but the screen is unprotected, so there is a dilemma. As an update I have discovered that Casebot have an Origami Sleeve Case which will take a Fire 8 HD with or without the show mode charging dock which solves the problem, but at a price, £31.99. The case also serves as a stand for viewing. The charging dock makes life easy and is very much a worthwhile product but If the protection problem could be overcome at a reasonable price, it would be an excellent product. As it is I would still recommend it, but with reservations about screen protection.

Will recharge a kindle fire tablet
Bought this as my Kindle fire would not recharge and the cost was equivalent to me having the fire tablet fixed. For me this meant a forty minute journey on the bus and back to my nearest repair shop. Was not sure if it would work but it did. I use my Kindle fire tablet as a normal tablet every day. I just leave the backing plate on and replace on docking station when finished. It is a good fix for a tablet that Will not recharge because the charging port is worn or loose.

Rock solid
A bit on the expensive side but the convenience soon takes precedence over price. Your Amazon Fire is always available and in a position where the screen can be seen 24/7. It’s a boon when using Alexa and has made my whole Alexa experience a great one.Big disadvantage if you want to take your tablet around on your travels though. The back fitted to your tablet is quite a weighty affair and doesn’t provide any form of protection for the screen. A travel case is the answer but requires removing the dock back before fitting and the reverse when you return home.

Used daily for 2 years and still working well
had for over two years and keep my fire on this when not using. Charges easily and gives me a light and clock by my bedside
