Pleasantly surprised

But on this occasion this monitor warrants it. I bought this on the strength of other reviews as I wanted something compact with HDMI to replace the large Dell monitor screen I use on my CCTV NVR. I didn’t pay full price as I opted for a unit refurbished by the manufacturer at £45 – bargain, so I thought. The screen quality is absolute pants, nothing Icould do would improve the grainy image and before anyone chips in with ‘you should have tried this mate…’, I’m no technophobe and my CCTV cameras are 5MP Ultra HD. I hooked up the screen to my PC to check, but got the same grainy image with ghosted text. I’ll be honest, it’s cheap looking, housed in low-grade plastic that looks like it wouldn’t last 5 minutes. I can’t think of one positive redeeming feature. In addition , if you gently tipped it from side to side you could hear something rattling inside the casing. I returned it for a refund on the basis that it was faulty. Buy cheap, buy twice…

Great Little Monitor
I bought this to create a quick temporary TV facility for my wife who broke her ankle and has moved into a bed in our spare room with a plaster cast on her leg.I simply ran an HDMI cable from a spare port on our satellite receiver to the monitor for full picture and sound output, with the monitor’s remote controller used for on/off switching and sound level.The additon of an IR repeater over HDMI (£10 ex Amazon), together with the satellite remote controller gives her full control of the system.The only possible disadvantage is the very narrow viewing angle, which is not a problem when watching from bed with the monitor at head height and full on to viewer.

Sound broke after 1 week
Eveything seemed to be okay then the sound would break then without any warning would occasionally start pretty low quality from China.

I waited about a month to write a review on this small monitor, but I am ready to tell everyone that I am very happy with this item. I have 3 large work monitors but needed something small to keep track of my “to-do” items… previously I had sticky notes all over my desk. Now, with the small monitor, I have OneNote open at all times on the small monitor and am able to add, remove and update my “to-do” list instantly. I love having my notes on a screen in front of me at all times. The small monitor is the perfect size to sit just below my main monitor. I am seriously considering a second small monitor to move long term bulletin board reminders from my wall to another small monitor. My expectations were low for this item but I am very happily impressed. It exceeded my expectations. It is the perfect small monitor for my needs.

It has a lot of features and a decent picture. The quality of the sound is quite dreadful however. Use a remote speaker if quality sound is required.
