All-round decent sensors
For a while now, I’ve been using door and window sensors built on ESPHome, using regular hall sensors, hooked up to Home Assistant.It was initially an experiment to see whether I’d actually find a use for them (I did). They worked fine, but running cables for 4 of them looked messy.I decided to buy a Zigbee USB gateway recently, intending to try some ‘kinetic wireless switches’ (which didn’t work) in order to control lights and provide some other automations. Since my original plan didn’t work out, I figured it was time to see whether Zigbee was worth it.It is. It really is. It took me all of ~10 minutes to pair 4 of these sensors into HA (using the built-in zigbee integration) with no significant trouble discovering them. The response time of them is really good, and connectivity is decent.The installation is very simple, requiring only the removal of the adhesive tape cover and then pressing into place for both pieces. The detection range/sensitivity between both pieces is decent too. Evidently, the magnet used in the smaller piece is decently powerful.I don’t yet had any insights to share on battery life. I’m hopeful that the 5-year estimate is somewhat accurate, but even if it only gets half the time, that still represents an extremely good value proposition.

Reliable door sensors
I’m using these on a couple of bathroom doors to tie in to Home Assistant and automate the lights.A couple of months in I can confidently say they’re working very well, no connection drop outs and very reliable detection of opening/closing.Bit early to comment on battery life but looking at the reported numbers they seem like they’re going to live up to the promise.For the price I’m comfortable recommending these.

Excellent door contact sensor
Excellent door contact sensor.Battery life is to be determined so will update this review if it fails early. Connects to homeassitant without issue and so far hasn’t lost contact since installation weeks ago. Far better than the Ikea Parasoll which was very hit and miss and at the time of writing this, has a warning on the Zigbee2MQTT database. This has no such issue.

Connectivity can be difficult to perfect
Initially very poor connectivity on a couple of sensors ( a temperature sensor and a door opened sensor), with one needing regular restarts. After a lot of fiddling with repeaters in the same room as the sensors, the temperature sensor is working fine with no drop outs. However whatever I try, the door opened sensor still regularly drops out for an hour or so, and then reconnects. At least it does not need restarting.Now all my 6 temperature sensors are working flawlessly, after very attentive support from the seller, I am upping my review to 4 stars. I guess batery powered zigbee devices are very sensitive to the zigbee signal and this may not just be a Sonoff issue.

Great ZigBee contact sensor connects well and long battery life
Very glad I bought these, I’ve connected them to my Hubitat home automation system over ZigBee and am using them to know if the doors of our garage fridge or freezer are left open or pop open.The extra sense of safety and reassurance they have given me is immense

Simple Setup, new pairing button is a welcome edition and the range is great.
I have used some of the older non P versions of this sensor and I must say the pairing button, while a simple addition is so much easier for setup. The magnet sensor range is good so I can place it on a large sliding door where it is offset from the reciever by about 1cm.

Great but bulky
The build quality is massively improved from the original SNZB-04. It is a decent contact sensor, responds quickly and has the right ZigBee clusters to allow binding for it to control lights directly. (Running this via Zigbee2MQTT and it works well). It also had a tamper switch that most alternatives don’t.The only downside is the size. The unit is really big. Photos show old version and the Aqara contact sensor for comparison. Part of that it to accommodate the CR2477 battery
