Deals with the poor inbuilt tv speakers problem
This was bought for an intelligent octogenarian who just wanted to be able to hear the voices better on her telly. This is a common complaint and something I am often involved with resolving. After auditioning a cheaper, smaller brand that failed to automatically decode all the digital signals sent by different broadcasters without intervention every time, something you cannot expect non-technical persons of any age to accept, it was back to good old Sony. More money, but does what it says on the tin! On the presumption that you are reading for the same reason here goes a de-nerded review!:For the money, itâs a very good product; perhaps a tad too long for some, but the subwoofer has to go somewhere! If the tv has a special HDMI socket on it with three letters ARC that are moulded on the panel of the outlet on the tv, then you will experience a rapid plug & play by only connecting the mains power to the unit and one HDMI. No other connections are necessary. Whatâs more, with an HDMI ARC connection, using a standard hdmi cable, nothing special, the user can continue using the tv remote control they are used to. They do not have to use the supplied remote just for the sound bar. However, the supplied remote will be needed if you wish to select any of the preset audio settings, one of which is voice enhancement and background music suppression. The audio is crisp, natural and superbly balanced. The unit will switch itself on and off as you do the tv, but you can also use it for other audio relay such as a wireless Bluetooth link from any sound streaming device. An optical ToSlink cable is provided should the tv not have an ARC label on its HDMI, and then this would be necessary to transmit the digital audio to the bar .The user is extremely happy and uses the Classic FM feed on her Freesat HD tv more so now than ever, as the tone is âbeautifulâ. And she can wind up the wick without distortion on the tweeters. Hopefully this was non-technical enough to demonstrate that it is okay for most older people that just want better sound in order to enjoy their telly!

Good clear sound.
Thick fingers and thumbs tricky to insert cables into unnecessary tight space. QI didn’t do their job at manufactureSome faffing about using remote control because you have to find a correct button sequence.

Improves TV sound
Saved a nice chunk of money by buying a reconditioned unit which looked as though it was unused. Quick & easy to install, it definitely improves our TV sound. Used only in a small lounge so canât say it would be good for a larger place. Also Iâve never heard one of the more expensive units so canât compare it â but weâre satisfied with this purchase.

Great sound â¦â¦when it worked !
The soundbar worked fine for a few days but then, for no apparent reason, it stopped working via the HDMI connectors so I had to resort to the optical link which gives much inferior sound quality.Iâve tried to return it but Amazon states the return window is closed even though it was supposed to carry a 12 month warranty !!So, what use is a warranty if I canât get the faulty soundbar replaced â¦â¦..
