Nice technology!
Iâve had these blind tilt motors installed in my bedroom for over a year, and theyâve performed exceptionally well. The battery life is impressiveâtypically lasting between four and five monthsâand Iâve configured them to adjust with the sunrise, which they usually handle without a hitch.Iâm planning to buy more soon to automate the rest of the house. Setting them up was quick and straightforward, and once theyâre running, you barely have to think about them. Theyâre quiet, dependable, and blend seamlessly into your daily routine. The only minor drawback is that the automations occasionally need a manual adjustment to work as expected.

Affordable smart home solutions siding the right way
Iâve had this fitted for a couple of years now and I really canât fault it.It was easy to install and connects reliably to Alexa and my smartphone via with SwitchBot bridge (works fine with the cheaper bridge if you donât want the extra features including temperature sensor). The blind can also be operated remotely when away from home and included in Amazon Alexa routines, to give the appearance someone is at home when the house is empty.I set the unit up with the included solar panel, and have not had to plug the unit in to the mains to recharge it one, even in the winter. However, I only open and close the blind once most days, so if you have it on a blind that gets a lot of use, then you may find it needs the occasional charge from the mains too.As a disabled person, this helps me with something I would be unable to do otherwise, so Iâm pleased that an inexpensive and easy to fit bit of kit is available.I intend to buy more of these when I have more blinds fitted around the house. V impressed.

Nice system
Easy to install and good unit. Come in white and I coloured myself to match. Bought 8 in total but one of the solar panels stopped working.

Good Reliable Product
We now have five Switchbot Blind Tilts and they are great. We’ve had four for a couple of years and bought another earlier this year for a different room.We run them on timers through the Switchbot app and we have never had an issue with them not working when we need them to. Four are in the same room and have been combined into one rule so they act together. They are great for when you’re not going to be at home when it gets dark or for when you’re away on holiday. It’s very easy to change the time they operate when the days get longer or shorter. They also work well with Alexa if you need to open/close without the timer. As you can see from the photo, they’re discreet and not visible unless you pull the curtains back.We don’t use the solar panel by choice based on the rooms we have them in.We have a different brand for opening our curtains which are very temperamental, recently when on holiday one individual stayed shut for the two weeks we were away. If we had bought the blind tilts first, we’d have gotten Switchbot Curtain Openers instead as we trust them. We will be replacing our existing ones when we get a chance with the Switchbot ones as based on our experience they are reliable and value for money as they do exactly what we need them to do.The app for Switchbot is much easier to navigate from the other brand too, was very easy to add in the additional tilt when we bought it.

Ideal solution to make Venetian blinds smart.
Fairly expensive and a little fiddly to install and calibrate, but once set up they’re perfect. If you get a reasonable amount of direch sunlight and use the included solar panels, you’ll not even need to charge them, and you can easily configure them to open and close as needed through the day.And if you have a suitable Switchbot Hub, then you can easily control them via your typical home automation.

Superb
This product is amazing, so easy to fit and works perfectly on my vertical blind, I don’t know why it states not compatible as there were no alterations to get it to work or any thing like that, I’m very satisfied with this high quality, well made, easy to fit item, brilliant.

NOT Alexa compatible – Prepare for headaches
I had high hopes for the SwitchBot Blind Tilt, but Iâve been disappointed by persistent connectivity issues. Even after buying the additional hub, I couldnât get it to connect to Alexa, and many other users seem to have the same issue. None of the suggested third-party apps worked for me either, so Iâm stuck adjusting the blinds solely through the SwitchBot app.The device itself is okay but feels underpowered, even with an almost full battery. Overall, Iâm disappointedâthese blinds were chosen specifically for smart home integration, which has unfortunately fallen short.Editing to add; Alexa compatibility did eventually work, some weeks later. I think they updated something or other and it eventually worked. However we were unhappy with the build quality and connectivity issues we faced so ended up returning them all (and hub) for a full refund.

Very good design, less noise than similar motor ideas, very good and stable solar charging and good connectivity to wifi and Google home app

Iâve installed four of these SwitchBot Blind Tilts in my home â purchased a three-pack and a one-pack â and couldnât be happier with them. The one-pack I purchased was a âkit,â also containing Switchbotâs âHub Mini,â which is a necessary addition if you want to control these via your smart home controller â Alexa / Google Home / so forth. Mine are controlled through Amazon Echos via Alexa routines.Installation instructions are clearly written and the necessary bits and jigs to insure correct alignment are included with each blind tilt in the form of cardboard templates with adhesive. You align the cardboard template with your tilt wand, attach it to your blindâs headrail with the templateâs adhesive pads, and it shows you precisely where to attach the wand clamp and the motor mount for a correct fit. At first, opening the package, installation looks daunting, but itâs really quite simple. Just read through the instructions and you wonât have any problems.Others have mentioned trouble keeping these units charged. I havenât experienced any problems, and all four of my blind tilt units are on a north-facing wall. Itâs true that the solar panel doesnât keep their batteries at 100%, but this is to be expected when the panels are facing north and get zero direct sun. When I first installed these I installed the solar chargers on three but did not install the solar charger on the fourth. After a month, the three with the chargers were at 78% battery, the one without was at 58%. So even facing north, the solar chargers provide a small charge, helping to keep the batteries up. I charged these unitâs batteries to 100% prior to installing them and own a supplemental battery for my iPhone. Itâs a simple matter to unplug the solar panelâs USB-C connector from the unit and plug the battery in to top off the blind tiltâs battery. Would it be better if the solar panels did all the work? Of course. But there will always be these minor issues with any tech, and honestly, this is so minor itâs inconsequential. My ONE problem with SwitchBot Blind Tilt was with the unitâs bright whiteness. I have mahogany blinds in my living room and honey maple blinds in my bath. The white motor and wand clamp stood out and not in a good way. Iâve painted mine with solid color deck stain to closely match the blinds and now I donât even see them. If you want to paint yours, prior to painting tape up the wand clamp and the bottom of the motor unit. The wand clamp contains a latch-release with very close tolerances. Any primer or paint in that latch will make it unworkable. Learn from my mistake â I spent about an hour with an x-acto knife trying to surgically scrape off primer to get the latch operable again. Just tape the clamp portion and leave it white. The bottom of the motor unit contains a button you press to connect the unit to your network. This also needs to remain unpainted, so tape that too before priming. The attached video shows these two areas. Start with a bonding primer and follow-up with the paint or stain color of your choice. Home Depot sells âsample sizeâ deck stains quite inexpensively. Stop by and pick up a deck stain color sheet, take it home and match your blind color with that sheet, return to Home Depot and pick up your sample size can of stain. I used solid-color deck stain, but any paint or stain will work. One final note: Alexa only has the ability to close the SwitchBot Blind Tilt with slats facing DOWN. This was unsuitable to me. Hereâs a simple fix: in your final installation step â the calibration of the unit â when the app instructs you to fully open the blinds DOWN, fully open them UP. And when it instructs you to fully open them UP, fully open them DOWN. Alexa will now close your blind slats in the UP position and you are indisputably the master of your domain.I have mine opening at sunrise and closing at sunset every day through Alexa routines. I couldnât be happier. For the price, these bring automation to existing blinds very cost-effectively. Go for it!

I purchased the SwitchBot Tilt to automate opening one of my blinds at sunrise, allowing my plants to get their daily dose of sunlight from the very beginning of the day. It has been working well, especially since I no longer have to manually open the blinds, which I would typically do much later after waking up and getting ready. The battery life is impressive, lasting a long time without needing frequent recharges. While the solar panel was a bit tricky to positionâespecially with the tilt mechanism sitting near a bug screen that limits direct sunlightâit hasnât been a major issue since the battery performance is so reliable. Overall, itâs been a great addition to my setup!
