Too slow to communicate with other devices
I hate to write a negative review about switchbot because in all honesty, most of their products are fantastic! Their door lock, air purifier, relays, door sensors… All great!However, same can’t be said about the motion sensor.I bought this to active my kitchen lights and to have them turn off after 5minutes of inactivity. Setup was really straight forward, as with all the other switchbot devices I currently own.Sadly the experience hasnt been great. The motion sensor is ridiculously slow to notify the lights to turn on. I do run a number of different brand light bulbs and smart plugs and prehaps it would be quicker with switchbot products but it’s no good for mixed devices… I could enter the room, stumble about in the dark and leave before the lights finally turned on…. Not ideal.I also got notications on the 3rd day warning of low battery but when loading it up in the app the battery was 100%. Very strange.I’ve since moved this to a room that’s not used as much and the battery warnings have finally stopped (after a long time of just putting up with them)I got a different branded one to replace the kitchen one and it works instantly so my only guess is it’s the processing time from the switchbot app the the alexa routines. Either way it’s the first product from switchbot I’ve been disappointed in. Everything else is incredible and I’m planning on getting the roller blinds in the very near future.

Too many caveats puts this in the middle in the market
At the current age, you mix your ecosystems and with that one needs to talk to another. SwitchBot is no different. While it does work, we all want a fast and reliable sensor. This is neither. Home Assistant as the main controller can do Matter and Bluetooth. You can connect this device both ways however if you want the Matter support, you’ll need a Switchbot Matter hub like the mini. Sadly with Matter you’ll getting almost an extra second of delay. Putting to side the delay, it has a timeout of 30 seconds which works better than the IKEA sensors and around the same as Aqara’s motion sensors but all of them fall really short when you compare them with Philips Hue’s one. The base which comes with this is nice but extremely fragile. I ordered two of these on sale and broke one’s base as it’s locked with a twist method where only 3 small plastic holders are keeping everything together. Also like many motion sensors, this falls short when it’s used in a humid environment. In short, don’t use this in a bathroom. While it does have a light sensor, that’s not exposed outside Switchbot’s system much as Aqara’s P1.As much as I wanted to love these, it’s only a toy.Pros:- easy to integrate to Home Assistant- Matter compatible via hub (be aware the limitations of Switchbot’s hubs)- nice looking design- good battery life- stand can be attached to the bottom or the back of the device (this is actually brilliant)- can be added to your ecosystem via BluetoothCons:- feels really cheap plastic- sensor is not so accurate- response time is kind of … meh- stand can break easily- managing software is kind of slow (like Govee slow)

I Have tried many smart motion sensors , and all have had issues with routines failing or short battery life , I thought I’d give swithbot sensors ago as i previously have purchased switchbot switches and have been very pleased with there functionality and battery life . The motion sensor dose not fall short of that same experience and i am very happy with battery life ,and the fact the sensors also have a light sensor to trigger day night routines based of light is awsome. Overall I’m very happy with switchbot products and have had no issues and would gladly
