Needs A Neutral Wire.
I requested this as I was replacing the lighting in my garage from two 6Ft double fluorescent fittings to two new LED battens and I wanted them to be smart controlled so I could turn the lights on before going in the garage.To install this you do need a neutral wire which I was lucky enough to have as the old lights that were installed were double switched and the neutral wire had been used as the live feed to the 2nd switch (tsk, tsk), so I just connected it to the neutral from the fitting that went back to the consumer unit.You can either use the existing switch with this or no switch, I went the no switch option as I only had a 20mm pattress box on the wall and with the switch this would not fit but it does fit with a blanking plate which I had so I went that route. I can always install a deeper box and a switch later should I want one. It was easy to install with just a couple of wire connections. You then have to download the app, this they could have made easier as there are QR codes on the instructions but they just link to a support page and not the app.Anyway I found the app and downloaded it, the app worked and it recognised the relay but for some reason would not connect to it and kept failing I tried several times over a period of a few hours and it would just not connect. I then decided to download the app onto my latest phone, (I keep an old phone just for control apps) and it connected straightaway, so I would say it was a problem with the old Android version on my old phone. The linking of the account to Alexa was straightforward so I can now control it that way.This does have a power monitoring feature which I do not use as 2 LED battens are not going to use a lot anyway and are only occasionally on throughout the day but I suppose it would come in handy if used for something other than lights.In conclusion, easy to install and works well.

simple to implement and robustly solid functionality.
coming from a well known and reputable brand such as switchbot this is a product that I knew would be much better constructed than a lot of the unbranded/unknown companies producing smart home switches on the market.this was incredibly simple to wire up to my device in line with its power supply and it paired first time without issue and has been working flawlessly since with seamless integration into my smart home ecosystem.with all things electrical i would caution to fully research its capabilities yourself and compare them with your needs before purchase as everyones setup is different and I can only share my own experience but for me it’s been a net positive experience and i’d happily add more of these to my setup if needed.

Good devices but install support and documentation is poor
I got it to work however instructions and YouTube vids are poorThey are a bit slow to respond to commandsLove the small size and there unique functionality for old light switches

It Works, Just About
This ‘switch’ essentially adds smart functionality to your existing devices, by essentially controlling the power itself. It’s basically powered on the whole time and acts as a remote switch for whatever you’ve wired into it.And since it connects to a multitude of different devices, i.e. Smart Things, Google Home, Alexa, etc, you can control it from pretty much whatever ecosystem you’ve subscribed to. The main functionality comes from those, adding routines, etc.The only real issue is that it doesn’t come with *everything* you need for it to work in all scenarios; in some cases you’ll need a bit of extra wiring, etc, that this isn’t supplied with, so it’s no a guaranteed easy-install for your old item.It also does not appear to work with my old two-wire lighting install, so it doesn’t appear to be completely universal.

I have used various brands of smart relays with mixed results.Some have been a real pain to set up but this one took a few minutes.The software was easily updated and the relay connected to my Alexa App without any issues unlike some other brands I have used.Highly recommended.

It works, and it’s good. Small, real Matter support. Better than Tuya things.The only problem is that it takes time to open the light from the app, because the guys who developed the app block your control until it gets the electric consumption. So don’t get the P model, unless you really care about knowing the kWh usage.Also, this supports 1 switch only, so be aware that if you need to control more than one switch, choose the other ones..
