Large and effective indoor camera
Bought to monitor our new puppy. Easy to set up with the Tapo app. Straightforward to set up zones and alerts – I had it set up to alert me when the puppy woke up from her naps so I could get to her before she wrought too much destruction. We now have it set up to monitor the room she sleeps and and it means we can check on her in the night without getting out of bed (it has night vision). It also integrates with your Alexa devices so if youâve got an Echo Show or Fire TV you can just say âshow me x cameraâ to get a live feed on your screen. We bought a micro SD card so we can see what she was up to in the night too as it doesnât have any in-built memory. It is quite big and obstrusive.

Great product for the price. Was looking for something to monitor cats whilst away over night, but also alert me to any activity in our property in Spain.Useful features include : -* easy setup – literally took 5 mins.* Alert notificiations* Night vision* Pan and tilt* Person tracking – ie camera follows detected motion* no requirement for a subscription – simply insert a microSD card for detected motion to be recorded to that for future playback.* 30 day free use of cloud recordings to trial – no need to provide credit card details as per other trial subscriptions.* mounting options* two way audio – from your smart device* ability to integrate with other smart devices….e.g. motion detected then switch light on. etconly gripes : -Slightly bulkier device than the camera it was replacing (although it did not have tilt / pan capabilities)pan functionality is great – almost 360 degrees however tilt not so therefore when placing the camera up high (on a book shelf for example) you will lose some of the field of view.

I set up the Tapo TC70 as a general-purpose indoor camera-mostly to keep an eye on the dog and check in on the house when I’m out. It’s a budget-friendly pan/tilt camera with no subscription required, and it’s handled things well so far.What I liked:Clear video quality – The 1080p feed is sharp enough to see fine detail. Day or night, the image is reliable, and the night vision has decent range.Full room coverage – The 360° pan and 114° tilt let me scan the whole room from my phone. Smooth movement, no lag.No monthly fees – I use a microSD card for storage (not included), so I’m not tied to a subscription. Local recording works fine.AI detection is solid – It alerts me when there’s movement, and the app lets me customise detection zones. Pet and human detection both worked as expected.Easy setup – Took about five minutes to connect it to Wi-Fi and the Tapo app. Works with both Alexa and Google Assistant.Minor downsides:No battery option – It has to stay plugged in, so placement is limited by socket access.App can be slow at times – Occasionally takes a few seconds to load the live feed.MicroSD not included – Not a huge deal, but you’ll need to buy one if you want local storage.Final thoughts:The Tapo TC70 is a solid, budget-friendly indoor camera. Excellent quality image and impressive feature set
Bought this camera and it arrived yesterday. Have since set it up which was very easy to do once the app is downloaded. I have to say the quality of the image and the excellent array of features included in the app is excellent. The AI detection definitely works with people very well. Night vision is also excellent. It alsois a very nice looking device. The WiFi detection is also very good considering the camera is upstairs and the router is downstairs. For the money, it is excellent value considering I bought this to replace an aging IP camera which was twice as much several years ago. Overall, very impressed with this device and highly recommend it.

Works with frigate and HomeAssistant
Works better than I expected! I thought this would be one of those yt video camera footage video representative where its grainy and nothing can be made out. Oh was i wrong 1080p quality is doinb wonders. Perfect for small rooms and back garden. Installing on the wall is a breeze with the included guide and screws.Pan and tilt works nicely and can be automated to move at given intervals to given positions. Many settings are managed in the tapo app.You do NOT need to have an sd card for it to work as a live cam. Sd card is only for local recording. NVR is also supported frigate integrates nicely with this cam recording and detecfion of movement works with a 0.5or so secobd delay and the features are nice.Integrating to home assistant is simple with frigate hacs custom component, but the atreams took me a while to figure out for a live view in 2 tools frigate and hone assistant simultaneously. /stream1 over rtsp is the hd 1080p stream and /stream2 is the 720p one, since the tapo app uses the 1080p stream or the 720p one depebding on your config it can be viewed there without issues.Hovewer this cam obly supports 2 rtsp streams and you can only use 1 stream concurrently so no way to use 1080p in frigate AND home assistant, pick which obe gets the worse resolution and configure accordingly.Rtsp streams are notorious to only show live when you request/querry it so use the frigate cam card in hone assistant to get a live rolling view as that querries every second.Installation is easy just a power cable, long obe at that, and a wifi.

Great item, value for money!
The clarity is amazing! I bought this jsut to keep an eye on my cat when Iâm at work, jsut making sure he is ok as a friend recommended it to me as she does the same. I like how it notifies me of movement and instant records this and I can record manually myself when I want. Great coverage with moving the head around to view. And the voice activation is great too. Good quality for night vision too!
