Small, easy to set up, takes little energy and changes your home
Tapo are really on top of their game with this system. All you need to change your home is this cheap little box. You can then add sensors for temperature and humidity, motion sensors and add buttons to create events, add light switches that make your bulbs smart, etc, etc. Took me a while to find the right way to make a smart home but this is another great product from Tapo that uses long lasting cheap batteries in tiny sensors that relay back to this hub and into your wifi and Alexa.
All shows in one Tapo app along with your cameras and plugs and other Tapo products.
I trigger lights when we walk-in, monitor temperatures around the house (can set alerts if they go too high), switch off unused lights and many more functions. Adding Alexa means you can set up silly things like make Alexa say someone is in your hall or has opened a cupboard. The possibilities are endless.
What I also love is that Tapo have been around a while and will hopefully not leave us all in the lurch one day. They are very active with updating their apps and improving performance. (I have no shares in Tapo :). Love it!

    Fab, easy, simple
Bought this & a light switch to replace a Broadlink switch that like many others have stated stopped working after time.
Have had zero issues with this at all, really easy to connect. Very happy with it.

    Decent value
I’m disappointed that I can’t add the 235 doorbell I just bought. Seems to only support ,the 230 model although it does say more models will be added.
Note that only a few cameras are supported for back up on this unit. I’ve three models, and none of them support back up to this unit. But do your research
It will still be your hub, you can still do everything the wireless hub will do. They just need to add more device’s to it’s back up SD card, note the wireless model has no local back up SD option anyway.
Also I found it very clear that you added your own SD card, this just supports them. The 512gb card would cost more than the unit so it would be naive to think one was in the box. You can add SD cards to each camera for local storage anyway, or use their cloud service. The packaging and Amazon description is very clear on this.
It handles 64 devices like lights, switches etc and 4 devices that can back up to the hub. I haven’t tested this yet, I’m sure an update will allow my new doorbell to work and possibly my wired external cameras.
I don’t expect the solar camera to ever back up onto this, so use an SD card per camera in this case (or cloud)
It’s small and neat and is suitable for indoor use as needed for 99% of applications. At no stage did I ever read or think by looking at this device that it had an IP rating suitable for outdoor use.
Any reviews relating to disappointment about not being able to mout this outside in the rain, or not coming supplied with and SD card that costs more than this item does are unfair for this item and more likely a failure on the part of the person placing the order.
However the lack of support for many of the tapo cameras and doorbells is disappointing. So make sure you check before you buy a camera if saving data is compatible with this hub. The cameras will still work, just saving to the hub where you can share an SD card, that is inside a house might not be possible.
The main features here above the wireless hub would be saving on SD card purchases and have the data inside so that if someone steals the camera or doorbell the video footage is in your house, not in the camera.
The disadvantage would be it needs a wired point and this might not suit you if you plan to use it as your only chime. Again a chime is an added feature of an iot hub.
I would recommend this over the wireless unit if you have a data point for it, or you can put it beside your router as typically they have a few data point on the back you can use.
You can add the onboard chime to doorbells and alarms
It would effectively be an extra or main chime for a household. I’ve a chime, this and wireless hub all set up as an alarm for my shed.
You can use it with smart action to carry out different things. I’ve all the security sensors on it, pirs, door contacts etc.

    Really good
Wireless connectivity is great paired with a device that was place on side of the house and router on opposite side.
    Very easy to setup.

    It just works!
I use the plugs and temperature sensors available for this system to control temperature (through a heater) and humidity (through a de-humidifier) and the system just works and with this device you can use the Tapo app and see what is going on when away from the house (assuming it is connected the internet router via the supplied Ethernet cable, and powered by the mains from an available plug) really good system.

    Useless
Did not work whatever I tried. Kept saying it had no internet access, so limited functionality. I am an IT tech and nothing I tried worked.
TAPO support didn’t help at all and didn’t seem to care. Nice enough about it but that’s no use to me!

    Simple set up
Set up is simple. Needed this to use the water leak detector. Hoping some of my indoor cameras will become compatible with it soon.

    Seems to do its job
Seems to do its job… connecting all my Tapo stuff together. Really pleased so far. And so much cheaper than the Nest stuff I had.

The tapo smart hub works very well and serves the intended purpose of coordinating the smart devices. I am very satisfied with the functionality of the Hub app also and the degree of automation supported by the tapo ecosystem. Communication between devices is quick and haven’t noticed any lag at all. However, the hub gets very hot and stays hot always, it’s not clear why this is happening, so I’m worried about its longevity. Will have to wait and see.

Though this is unnecessary device and is mandate from the company to have it in order to use their equipments and complete their ecosystem..the only thing I liked about is siren which is loud enough and can be used wirelessly
