Set up a breeze, convenience at your fingertips
All you really need is the app. Setup was effortless. No hub needed unless you wanna add a physical button/switch and possibly other addons to be placed somewhere in your home, which was a bonus since i didnât need one. I can now operate the light in my loft without having to climb up, turn on light, climb back down, pick up the stuff i wanna store in the loft and climb back up. And in the rare event u forget to turn iff the light, i can simply access the app and turn it off. Another great feature is that it monitors the energy consumption, not necessary but helpful little feature to have if its something u care about. TPLINK (parent company) have always been reliable for me so i trust that this brand will be the same. Great quality smart plugs with intuitive set up and app
I bought these plugs to allow me to set up Christmas lights and not have to find the plugs under decorations and trees.Set up was really easy – make sure you pick the right plug version, the only time it didn’t work was when I inadvertently selected the wrong plug type from the list! When selecting the correct version, it literally took it seconds to find my wifi and set itself up. It updates in about 2 minutes if needed.Setting it up on Alexa to control the lights for Christmas was also simple. Once set up, I grouped them and no more crawling under trees and at the back of furniture to turn off the lights!There is a button at the side to start the set up if the plug hasn’t gone into set up mode automatically. This can be difficult to get to if you have existing plugs adjacent to the Tapo one. However, I only needed it once and just moved the other plug temporarily until the set up had finished.The plugs are larger than the standard UK ones being both longer (height) and deeper. Width is probably about the same but, as the plug is squared off, it covers more of the socket than normal. This isn’t an issue if you’re aware of the issue and plan your set up accordingly.I have had the Tapo plug both controlling an extension lead and as a control for a single item on an extension lead. Both worked perfectly and I didn’t have any issues with either option.I changed my internet provider at the end of January and wasn’t looking forward to making the changes necessary but everything was simple.Using the app is quite intuitive with a ‘plus’ to add a device or group and adding automations. Using Alexa is then just the next step and the system recognises the devices and groups so you can use voice commands.I’m so happy with the results of the plugs that I plan to buy Tapo smart bulbs next.

Integrates well with HomeAssistant
Works well with HomeAssistant once it’s all set up.The app on the phone is still required to set up wifi connection (when new, or if you want to change the wifi settings).Once wifi is setup, you can add them in HomeAssistant and fully manage these devices. The setup in homeassistant still needs access to internet for the Tplink Cloud, but once they are added, internet connectivity can be cut off and you manage them via local network only.One caveat I found: HomeAssistant integration doesn’t seem to be able to manage the setting for “default power state”, to change that (ON/OFF/Last state) you still have to use the app. But again once you have it in the setting you wish, you don’t need the app and the plugs don’t need internet anymore.

Work well and give power usage data.
Bought these to check on how much electricity was being used by TV, computers, etc. They are great and tell you how much is being used in each plug. They use WI-FI and you need to download an app for Android or Apple.Not had any issues thus far, the only thing I had was leaving my phone downstairs I was unable to switch on the plug and had to retrieve the phone.

Really handy smart plugs â easy to use and very reliable
Iâve been using the Tapo P110 smart plugs for a few weeks now and theyâve been great. Setup was super simple using the Tapo app, and they connected to WiFi without any issues. I mostly use them to control lamps and a heater remotely, and the app makes it really convenient to switch things on and off from anywhere.The energy monitoring feature is a nice bonus â it helps me keep track of electricity usage and see which devices are using the most power. Scheduling and timer features work perfectly, and the Away Mode is a great touch for added peace of mind when Iâm not home.It also works well with Alexa â voice commands are smooth and responsive. If you’re looking for a reliable, affordable smart plug with energy monitoring, this one is a solid choice.

BUYER BEWARE – COMPATIBILTY ISSUESDespite this being a UK Socketed product – it uses the US Version of the Hub to communicate.You will face compatibilty issues with some of the TAPO products. Nowhere is this written in the amazon page.TPLINK Support .. when they reply ( Support from the Middle east , where I am now based didnt reply for several weeks until I escalated it ) will eventully tell you to return the product to amazon which is great but doesnt fix the issue on their endSo it looks like TPLINK is selling US compatible products in the market ( They know this – even changing the plugs to UK ones ) with mixed compatilbity issues.
