Brilliant – the neatest and most reliable wifi plug I’ve found so far, and at a great price.
This review relates exclusively to the Tapo P110M Smart Plug, with Energy Monitoring with MATTER, and not to any other similar TAPO product.I’ve been using wifi smart plugs as part of my home automation (using the Apple Home app) for several years now, and they have presented me with several problems: HomeKit-certified plugs are very expensive, and whilst many cheaper devices are sold as working with HomeKit, in my experience ANY device that is not HomeKit-certified will from time – and unpredictably! – go into the dreaded “not responding mode”, which can be very disruptive, and can last from a few minutes to several days (in one case, 2 weeks!)!. I have used smart plugs from a range of manufacturers, including Tapo, all claiming to “work with HomeKit”, and they have been a disaster. Many need the manufacturer’s app to be installed in order to work at all (which I’m not prepared to do, for personal privacy reasons – too many of these apps send far too much information about you back to China or wherever) or must be connected via HomeBridge, but every non-certified smart plug I have used, without exception, has gone unresponsive at some time or another – usually at the most inconvenient moment! These P110M units are the first I have found that are just rock-solid reliable, and seem to have got around the HomeKit compatibility issue by their use of Matter. I have over the past few months replaced all my old smart plugs (about a dozen of them) with these P110M units, and have eliminated all my “not responding” problems. As well as all that, this unit is very compact compared to most other smart switches on the market, and works with Apple Home out of the box – there is no need to install any other software to make them work! – and for me these devices are as near perfect as I have been able to find – and at about £10 each are an absolute steal!
The Real Deal –
the real deal works with HomeKit as matters enabled
if you want to automate your home and are looking for affordable and futuristic system then go no further then tapo stuff. they have a large eco system and all at an affordable price. I have hue plugs and they are actually dumb plugs. these are really smart plugs. the hue bulbs are nicer then tapo bulbs . so you need to decide what to buy. there is someone who makes disability videos and he has a video about hue vs tapo vs wiz systems. watch that video and you will realise what you are missing on .read last 2 chapters of review for this items integration . the rest is for something elsethis company builds some of the best lights surpassing even Philips hue stuff.and they usually price it around £10 / piece. wish they did some wifi matters integration in to their bulbs. have a bunch of their bulbs and never regretted buying their stuff.there is science behind their bulbs. well they might as well not know it . let me explainthere is hardly any sunshine here in uk. ever heard of scanadanivian countries having the highest rate of suicide. Greenland/iceland etc. well had it occurred to you that it might be linked to the gloomy atmosphere year round .well here comes the good news. the 5000k and 6000k bulbs are designed to mimic sunlight indoors and they are bright. trust me when I say it will light up your home and light it up good.the bulbs have anti flicker tech which means when you snap pics with these bulbs on you video film wouldn’t have flickers in them. it means the frequency that these bulbs work is not irritating for humans and animals I think.when the human brain gets its fair share of sunlight it is less prone to depression. so to cure depression buy the 5000k or 6000k lights. they are literal life savers. you will see mood improving inside your homes once you have these installed. they will bring indirect happiness . I use Philips hue smart plugs connected to lams with these bulbs and use a sensor to detect my presence in the room to automatically turn on and off the lights. you can literally buy any smart plug which also has infrared sensor like tp link tapo smart plugs . best to buy matters certified smart plugs from tapo. the p110m version is good and £10er each. the sensor will light up the lamps and shut them off when it stops detecting presence in the room . this way you end up with automatic lights in your living room.I used 3 of these 30w bulbs in each bedroom . changed to Philips hue . you need around 4500 lumen in a bedroom to cure depression and around double that in a living room . this is for a house that is pure white inside paint. if dark coloured paints then the lumen requirement goes up of 50%. best to buy white furniture and curtains to keep sense of the space being open and large.

Superb piece of kit. Well made, great app and a fraction of the price of some competitors
The product is well made. The app is easy to navigate and has lots of useful functions such as a timer, countdown timer, and random function. Also the app only connects to Tapo items and doesn’t try to hijack the control of other products from other companies. (Apple Home acts as a central controller if you need everything in one place so there’s no need). And it is a third of the price of the equivalent provided by Eve. I now have 6 of these and will be getting more.
