Turned my Kindle Fire HD and Android ‘phone into practical tools for backing up data…
I normally take a laptop to allow backing up of photos and videos whilst away. This (very inexpensive!) cable allows me to use my tablet* and/or ‘phone to do the same – all with considerably less bulk & weight.I was (very) pleasantly surprised that I could not only use memory-sticks – even with adapters – but also power and use an XXS USB drive – though YMMV (Your Mileage May Vary).The only (minor) limitation that I found was that I couldn’t access two (or more) USB devices – via a hub – at the same time, but that’s a limitation I can happily live with for all the other benefits. I also couldn’t write to the root of the file-systems – probably a security restriction(?), but again, not a showstopper.* I had ES File Explorer already installed. I don’t know if that was actually necessary i.e. did the default system work, but didn’t uninstall to find out.
