Simple on/off alarm sensors for windows or doors.
There are three separate alarm sensors in the box, along with some 3M adhesive pads and easy to follow instructions.
The sensors themselves are well made and the tiny switches are easy to operate. The units are powered by button-cell batteries, which come pre-installed.
Fitting the alarms is very straightforward and requires no tools. Simply use the supplied glue pads and align the sensors as per the instructions. You have to apply some thought as to how the window or door will be opened to ensure that the fitting doesn’t impact in a negative way, but this will depend on each particular installation.
Effectively there are two settings; either a tone to let you know the door or window has been opened or a continuous alarm. There are three separate loudness settings which work for both the alarm and the chime.
The alarm or chime are triggered by disturbing the magnetic field, which activates the internal switch.
The loudness in the alarm setting is pretty good considering the size of the device and would certainly startle an intruder and let others know that access had been gained.
I would say that if you’re after an open/close chime then these devices work well, but if you’re primarily after the alarm function then the devices are best fitted on doors or windows that aren’t in regular use. The reason I say this is that the alarm is either on or off, there’s no activation delay for either setting and exiting or opening, which would buy you some time to deactivate it.
As an inexpensive, simple to fit and simple to operate door or window alarm these do the job, but the lack of an delayed operation might be annoying or impractical for some applications.
