Customers say

Customers find the powerline adapter works well out of the box and is easy to set up, with a stable wired Internet connection that’s better than Wi-Fi. Moreover, the device is well-built, and customers appreciate its plug-in capability without extra wiring. However, speed performance is mixed, with some reporting good speeds while others experience slow connections with disconnects. Additionally, value for money receives mixed feedback, with some considering it good value while others find it cheap.

Bargain basement but perform really well
This Broadcom based AV1000 homeplug device is slower than the QCA based Powerline 1200 kit I had before. On my gigabit broadband my speed tests average at around 200-250mbps up & down with this kit, but with my previous netgear kit it was ~300-350mbps. That using a speed test, not using the desktop apps (such as Tenda’s PLC-Config tool) that tells me that I’m currently connected at a physical speed of 738mbps up and 794mbps down.
So why have I given this full marks when it’s slower than the alternative? Because it’s ridiculously cheaper than the 1200 mbps kit! I bought this in a hurry when I broke one of my Netgear devices, and given that this is just giving me a “wired” connection in my garage this does what I want, with far more stability than wifi. In fact, I use this to provide a solid connection in the garage so I can do my day job in there as well as feed another wireless access point.
The devices themselves are pretty compact of one of these adapters, provide pass-through sockets, and that’s about it. The ethernet jack being on the underside isn’t great for me, personally, but it works. The Tenda software (downloadable when searching) isn’t particularly great, but you can use it to set the security – please ensure that you do this (you can do it without the software, too, by pressing the sync button on each device for a second within 2 mins of each other) as otherwise you could theoretically have your neighbours connecting to your network!
So, in conclusion: Well cheap, work really well, if you want the speediest then you need to run a network cable, even the speedier homeplug/powerline units are going to have serious performance limitations compared to a run of Cat5e or later. If you’re prepared to accept the limitations, these do the trick!

    Usage: Bridge Wifi to Ethernet
To be clear my usecase is ‘Bridge’ to go from access point to this product via wifi then using the built in ethernet port for the ethernet run to the garage!
Bought this to bridge the gap from wifi (under the stairs) to the front door where there is ethernet to the garage (seperate AP in garage) getting 100mbps in the garage now (500mbps from the gateway router), less than expected but suit’s the needs for Car updates 🚗 and smart devices.
    Positives :
    • Quick and easy setup, a novice shouldn’t have a problem since it’s in plain english or shows a diagram when choosing modes.
    • Support’s the modes and wifi spec it says it does
    • You can turn off the LEDs on the unit or set a schedule of when they are on or off (Handy if you want it to ‘hide’ in the house or have it in a bedroom)
    What could be done better:
    • OFDMA is disabled by default (google ‘OFDMA purpose’ if you want more information)
    • No option to turn off the wifi AP, in my use case It’s close enough to my gateway router to interfere and cause devices to connect to it rather than the primary gateway AP, you can change the name to get around this which I have but it broadcasts on the same channel as the primary AP with no option to change.
    • You can’t turn off 2.4ghz or 5ghz you can only split them into their own separate Access points.
    • Wifi signal is fine but does drop off quickly on 5ghz, likely due to the two antenna design. and those antenna are larger in life than it looks in the pictures with no reference to size.

    Just what I needed!
I bought this because I got a Quest 3 and streaming games from my PC was quite choppy on my old WiFi so I figured I’d buy this because buying a whole new router costs too much and I just need the WiFi 6 bit.
It arrived without an amazon box but packaging was still in good condition.
Installing it was simple too. Just plug it in, connect to your device to it via WiFi, then go to ‘re.tenda.cn’ to set it up. I have mine in AP mode connected to my powerline and it works great and streaming content is smooth as can be now. Definitely a bargain at this price for these speeds.
