Responsive, very high quality picture
What a great TV box. I bought this as was having trouble with my Nvidia Shield, so this had a big challenge to step up to the quality I expect!It stepped up perfectly.I don’t use BBC, ITV and the other UK services – was able to install Plex without hassle and was away. Also installed Sideload Channel Launcher 4 as I like the clean interface.I certainly recommend this box. Only downside is the ugly remote, but not a deal breaker.

This is a good one, no different to a Roku or Amazon fire tv cube, easy to use works with Pluto TV and i get sound with all of my Prime video movies that i never did with my XBOX Series S!

Unfortunately unusable owing to significant performance issues.
Extremely disappointed by this. The device itself is nice and compact, remote is good with a useful selection of controls and buttons and the price for the features is great. Unfortunately the performance renders the device (at least in my case) useless. The device continually drops the WiFi connection requiring a manual reconnection to the network. It also frequently froze and could not be used until it was unplugged and plugged back in. When connected and working it is also significantly slower than other Android tv units. Apps would take a considerable time to load and often streaming would require 3 or 4 attempts due to the device taking too long to establish the connection with the streamed content. I’ve opted to return it for a alternative product as it simply doesn’t perform well enough at all.

I tried the Thomson 420 box from amazon for my grand aunt. It was £50 when I bought last weekI really like the box quality and remote etc. No hdmi cable was supplied however. But a a uk 3 pin plug is standard.But frustratingly most of the UK apps had to be sideloaded. Only itvx could be installed the normal way. From what I understand this is because the TV companies review hardware products before allowing their apps to be installed on them.I used the aftv downloaded on the TV and short code links made from the techdoctoruk urls pointing to the apks.E.g. BBC iplayer code is 164237I’ve set things up for my grand aunt now and it’s all fine. The only problem I had was I had to change the hdmi signal settings on the Thomson device to a set resolution (not auto) and switch off hdmi cec – because otherwise the signal kept confusing the TV and eventually led to a blank screen. I don’t know why this happened but think it’s something to do with either the TV being old or the hdmi cable I bought. It’s all fine now.

Avoid in the UK (Unless you know the apps you want are installable)
It’s a nice device, the unit is good quality from a fit and finish point of view, and app performance is decent.The issue is that in the UK, many of the mainstay streaming services for on-demand TV are not available to install. No BBC iPlayer, ITV X, Channel 4, I only saw My5 available. Rather frustrating as this device runs the same Google TV Android 12+ OS as the Google Chromecast (with Google TV) streamer, even has the same CPU, GPU and RAM but for some reason the apps are just absent from the on-device app store and installing from play.google.com reveals that the apps “are not supported on this device”.If you know the apps you want are installable (e.g. Netflix, Prime, AP TV+, Jellyfin, Plex) it seems decent but I purchased as a gift and if it doesn’t have these UK centric services available then it’s a non-starter.

Het was even puzzelen maar dan heb je ook wat. Tweede kans product geleverd zonder batterijen voor de afstandsbediening en een ontbrekende handleiding. (Batterijen had ik zelf nog en handleiding gedownload). Na een uurtje installeren een uitstekende en vlot werkende Thomson Stick 140. Fantastisch beeld en geluid van Ziggo en F1 apps.

Works great, no issues.I can on Telia Play and possible other TV-providers, use the number buttons to select channels, like 1, 2 and 12.I can set the Live-TV icon, to open a specific app, like Telia Play.I got no issue with disconnecting WIFI, this can be because I’m a technician and know how to setup WIFI.I have heard of issues with routers who use IPv6, which can be resolved by shutting down IPv6, unless this is required for other services.Another manufacturer had issues with the ethernet port behind a switch, this could possible because the use of green switches, those with power-saving functionality. This one works fine behind a dumb switch.Some providers, like Telia, deliver good TV-boxes.Some other brands, sometimes have issues with wear on the WIFI card after one or two years, same with the network port.But so far, I haven’t seen issues like this with this box, which it of course shouldn’t be on day one.

Siendo de Apple esto de los Android y Google TV la verdad es que me pillaba un poco de lado⦠en mi modesta opinión, las máquinas con Google TV, al menos esta, son mucho más recomendables que las Android. En este caso la experiencia de uso es muy profesional, haciendo un paralelismo âes como un Apple TV, pero de Googleâ, todo funciona y la experiencia de uso es muy buena. En los Android TV, todo parece más âde andar por casaâ y falla bastante.Con respecto a este modelo de Thomson, se ve genial. La UI va muy fluida, tiene micro y altavoz para hablar con el, el mando es bueno y emite un ruido para encontrarlo⦠En definitiva por un poco más de dinero tienes una experiencia mucho mejor que otros, con el aval de una marca de toda la vida.

Returned and could not recommend the Thomson stick. Performance is very poor and itâs underpowered which causes lag/reboots etc.
