It worksâ¦..An Amazon echo in a field!
I have taken my Amazon Echo show 5 (ancient) away on holiday and it works really well. I am in a glamping pod and the only power is coming from a large solar panel which gives low voltage for USB sockets & lights. It takes a moment to give the required level but then runs as normal. Of course you will still need some form of Wi-Fi, I am using mobile MIFI dongles. Music of my choice in a wild and remote field, who would have thought! It was pretty much plug and play.

Usb power Alexa alarm clock
Works well first few days Alexa clock seemed to reboot i assumed not enough power from the cable / usb source however no issues since had it running for a couple of months now all working fine

I bought this to jerry rig an Echo Dot in the bathroom off a legal USB port in a cupboard. It says itâll only work with the 3rd gen Echo Dot. Mine didnât, but i tried using a 5th gen one and that one works perfectly. Make sure you buy a USB socket that provides the most wattage through a SINGLE port. Some say theyâre 5A, but itâs shared over 4 ports, and can only provide a max of 1A through a single port. So look for one with highest power with as few ports as possible and youâll get it to work i found one that should provide 3A over a single USB port, so should provide the 15W that the Echo needs. I havenât had it cut out from drawing too much power but I rarely have it turned up to 10. Other USB sockets would cut out and force a reboot when it drew too much from their inferior ports.

Absolutely Useless
Be warned, this device will only just power up the echo 2, despite the fact that it stated its suitable. Try playing at any audible volume and the unit will power off and reset. Does not do what it says on the tin.

It works, but it’s a loose fit.
I think the official size for the connector on the Dot is 4.5mm… this just feels…. wobbly (as others have mentioned).I’ve eased in the inner spikes that grab the centre pin with a needle… the outside is covered as the speaker has a spring that touches that.It’s just not a sung fit. Had the volume upto 8 and it didn’t reboot, so that will do for me.

Works with Echo Dot 5
Wanted to get rid of the echo dot’s ac adapter to free up socket space, and looked to find a usb adapter to charge it instead as I have a usb hub nearby.Ordered this, and it works great.I read that it struggles with loud volume, but I have it at halfway and I find that very loud and so far no issues. So maybe at max volume it cuts out, but that’s so loud I’m unsure when you’d ever use it at that level.

Ich habe in meinem Camper Smarthome Funktionalität verbaut, die ich gerne über Alexa steuern wollte. Ausserdem nutze ich den Echo Dot als Mediaplayer, Wecker usw.Mit dem Adapter funktioniert die Stromversorgung zuverlässig.

Da beim Aufstellort nur eine Steckdose vorhanden ist, aber mehrere Geräte gesteckt werden müssen, habe ich eine Multisteckdose eingesetzt. Und jetzt kommt dieser Adapter ins Spiel. Direkt am USB Port angeschlossen, wird der Echo durchgehend mit Strom versorgt. Auch bei voller Lautstärke schaltet der nicht ab (wahrscheinlich liefert der USB Port genug Strom).

Ansich gut, leider hat das kabel in verbindung mit echo dot zwischendrin Stromschwankungen, da ich es aber nur zum Laden der Docking station nutze reicht es völlig aus.
