Non-pro, no aperture ring, but otherwise terrific performance at this level.
Although there are only a smattering of Vine reviews of this lens on Amazon, there is plenty of coverage of it elsewhere on the ‘Net.I’d recommend Dylan Goldby’s video review for instance (and he also has a comparison video including this and some competitors).But if you want the TL:DR version of watching and reading all those it’ll sound something like:”Fast focusing, sharp corner to corner with few performance downsides (perhaps a little flare). It loses the manual aperture ring compared to the previous f1.4 and the build quality is distinctly at the cheaper end.”I can’t give a more comprehensive review than the experts, but my initial impressions differ slightly. From a performance perspective, a quick try suggests this will be a really nice lens to use, but Iâd point you to the professional reviews again for a lot more varied example images.Most reviewers describe the build quality as cheap. Certainly, itâs not a pro lens and makes no claims to being weather-sealed, for example. It also feels pretty light, but thatâs not necessarily all bad, of course.It does have a metal mounting ring which is certainly not a given these days. I was expecting (based on reading reviews) that the overall quality of the plastics and finish would be a bit nasty. Not the case in my view. Itâs entirely respectable.Some reviewers also comment that the lens hood is useless. It is very minimal and I donât think will do much/anything to prevent flare. But it would be worth having on to provide a little bit of knock protection.If you can do without the aperture ring, this seems like a great way to add a lens of this type to your bag.

Focus speed and sharpness
The product is supplied as listed, the lens comes with rear and front lens caps, a lens hood (petal shaped) and the carry pouch.The first thing that I was a little surprised by was how light the lens feels (only 171g, apparently), the plastic is not premium stuff, but not cheap feeling to touch. either. The mount itself, however, is metal (some more expensive ones can be plastic, here). There is an integral USB port for firmware upgrades.At this price bracket, the image quality is really excellent. The colours are crisp, at f1.7 there is the normal expected blurring around the corners, at and above f4, the image is very sharp. The lens supports eye detect and auto focus. There is no aperture setting ring, this is done through the camera.Focus speed and sharpness are up there, the lens can hold its own against much more premium (and considerably more expensive) competition.The lens is probably ideal for the newcomer to more serious photography away from the mobile phone photography. Highly recommended, great product.

Tried this out on my Fuji X-Pro. Its a APS-C lens so not full frame . For information, 35mm on an APC camera equates to a 50mm on full frame.Results were impressive. Sharp and hardly any fall off at corners even at f1.7.Price is less than half the Fuji equivalent.On the downside the lens does not have an aperture ring so changing the aperture is via dial on the camera only. No big deal as I have the same on my Nikon Fc camera. Once you get used to its, its fine and since I am aperture priority I usually have the camera at either F5.6 or F8.It’s very light weight which is a plus, mainly due to the plastic lens, but with a metal mount. Comes with lens caps and lens cap.

I got this lens because I had been looking for a fast portrait lens with autofocus. I enjoy shooting portraits with beautiful background blur (bokeh) as well as capturing low-light scenesâlike evening street photography or cozy café interiors.The lens comes in a convenient box with a protective pouch and both caps. Mounting it onto the Fujifilm X-Mount camera took just secondsâthe bayonet locked in firmly with no play. The metal body gives it a premium, solid feel. Ich bin jahrelanger Berufsfotograf und benötige nicht immer das teuerste und beste Equipment. Vor allem dann nicht, wenn ich mobil sein möchte und Gewicht einsparen möchte. Hier kommt dieses perfekte Immerdrauf-Objektiv ins Spiel.Es ist für mich die perfekte “alleound” Brennweite, da es einen 50mm Objektiv an nähesten kommt. Es eignet sich perfekt für Porträts als auch für Ganzkorperaufnahmen aber auch für Street- oder auch Food-Fotografie. Wenn man vor der Entscheidung steht, sich nur auf ein Objektiv festzulegen, dann würde ich dieses hier empfehlen. Es ist perfekt verarbeitet, leicht und dennoch relativ robust. Die Lichtstärke von f1.7 ist top. Bei der offenen Blende von 1.7 erreicht man ein wunderschönes Bokeh und kann den Vordergrund sehr schön vom Hintergrund isolieren. Auch abends bzw bei schwierigen Lichtverhältnissen ist die offene Blende ein wahrer Segen. Das Objektiv ist sehr universell einsetzbar und sollte so ziemlich die erste Wahl sein, wenn man sich eine Kamera zulegt.Die vielen positiven YouTube Reviews sehen das auch so. Es soll übrigens auch für Videos sehr gut geeignet sein, doch das ist nicht mein Parkett. Der Autofokus arbeitet sehr zügig, treffsicher und leise. Ich bin mit dem Objektiv sehr zufrieden und kann es nicht genug loben. Der Preis passt, die optische Leistung ist ein Traum. Ich kann es nicht nur Einsteigern empfehlen, sondern auch Profis, die mobil sein möchten und nicht die Angst haben müssen, falls es mal auf den Boden fällt. Die Preis-Leistung ist hier wirklich sehr gut.

Have the 35mm Air and this 56mm is a nice 85mm equivalent focal length. Portraits are very nice and bokeh is pleasing. Light as a feather means I can carry both Air lenses in a very small bag and have a very light and compact 2 prime lens kit for my X T50.

VILTROX 13mm f/1.4 F1.4 XF Mount Ultra Wide Angle APS-C AF Autofocus Lens for Fuji X-Mount Cameras X-A5 X-A7 X-S10 X-T200 X-T100 X-T20 X-T30 X-T3 X-T4 X-T2 X-T1 X-E2 X-E2S X-E3 X-E4 X-Pro2 X-Pro3I am amazed at all my Viltrox lenses and this is no exception. For a fairly low cost, this is built like a pro lens, all metal — except i dont see weather sealing on the mount. It has a usbc port on the inside part of the lens mount which accepts firmware updates. Firmware updating on Viltrox lenses is dead simple and i find the company is very responsive to issues . My lens is for Fuji and they already have a firmware update for it.For such a wide lens its very hand holdable and light. It has an aperture ring too, which is CRITICAL for fuji Xt series cameras. Very nice close focusing, makes for some great artistic wide shots at f/1.4. I’m really pleased with the distortion control. It is quite good and managable in lightroom. The motor is dead silent and fast. Has no issue keeping up with fuji XT20 AF including eyeAF. Lens is sharpest at f/5.6 IMO but highly usable even at f/1.4.If youre lookin for a cost effective wide APSC prime, this is a great solution for artistic wide views.
