How to Operate Offline Clone Function:
Please unplug the DC power adapter to make sure that the power is off before starting. Insert Source Disk into hard drive bay A, then insert Target Disk into hard drive bay B. Make sure the USB cable is disconnected from computer. Connect the power adapter and turn the”ON-OFF” switch on. Hold the CLONE button for about 3 seconds, when all leds turn on, the clone progress will start.Four lights (25%, 50%, 75%, 100% ) will turn solid blue when the cloning process is completed.Finally turn the “ON-OFF” switch off, disconnect the power adapter and eject your drives.
Tips for Offline Clone:
The capacity of target disk must be larger than the source disk.Please confirm that your source drive and target drive can both work properly.Please connect the 12V power adapter to ensure a stable power supply for transmission.To avoid data transfer errors, overheating and damage to the device, please make sure that there are no faulty driver cells.To avoid data loss, do not remove or insert drives when one drive is working in the docking station. Please power off the dock before removing.Please confirm the target drive have no data. If you have existing data on the target drive, the cloning process will eliminate your target drive’s data. Because the target drive will be cloned to be the same as the source drive, partition, format and data are the same too.

Well made, sturdy docking station that’s handled everything I’ve thrown at it with ease.
My last docking station only lasted a few months before the connection USB connection at the back started playing up (buy cheap, but twice as they say) so I was on the lookout for another one. Like a lot of people working in IT I have a bit of a collection of hard drives (both 2.5″ and 3.5″, convention type and now more recently SSDs) that I need to extract data from and copy form one to another.This device handles both types with no issues at all. It’s certianly a much better build item than the last one I purchased (which was a generic all in one docking station and card reader) – this loses the card reader (no biggie for me, I have others) but adds USB 3.0 support which has made a massive difference for data transfers. It’s fair to say I wouldn’t ever want to go back to a unit without USB 3 now.Both slots handle either size of drive – there is a clever spring loaded slot that allows it to cater for either easily. My SSD drivers worked fine too, so it’ll handle pretty much anything you throw at it.There’s a standalone one button clone feature, with LED status indicators to guide you along, but I’ve never really had cause to use that yet. It also says it supports offline clones between two hard drives without a host PC being needed, but again it’s not something I’ve tested.As for setup, it’s plug and play and was faultless on Windows 10 at least (I’m afraid I can’t comment on OSX as we only use Windows here). There’s a very small printed manual and another on the CD which I struggled to get a great deal of sense out of of.I need to offer thanks to another review which mentioned Macrium Reflect Free software – I’d certainly second that as it allows for on the fly cloning operations to your C: using this unit, which worked superbly. This allowed me to clone a hardisk to a SSD set up as C: on the fly, which was fantastic.All in all then, it’s a well build sturdy unit that has performed flawlessly so far and handled everything I’ve thrown at it in terms of old drives. It’s made getting old data form my wife’s old laptops a remarkable easy process, and made cloning my old hard drive to a SSD a piece of cake. USB 3 means it pretty much flys by in comparison to my old docking station, and it’s decent value for the price.

Overall, I’m pleased with this
FOR… The device is compact and sturdy and feels like a quality item. The drive bay doors seem robust and the springs are strong. When a 3.5″ HDD is inserted, the disk stays exactly where it’s put with no wobbling (unlike other caddies I’ve used in the past). The non-slip pads on the bottom work well.The cloning system works well. First, UNPLUG the USB cable, put the two disks in their respective bays (source at the back, target at the front), turn on the power switch at the back, press and hold the front button and then, as soon as all lights are flashing, press the button again and cloning starts. A 500 Gb disk with 300 Gb of used space, took 1 hr 20 mins.AGAINST… The manual is a three-fold piece of paper smaller than A5. The e-manual, a PDF file on the supplied mini-CD, is no help either as it refers to a completely different piece of kit, which is bizarre. The ‘sleep after 10 minutes inactivity’ feature actually takes a lot longer than that. After 30 minutes of inactivity it was still awake. I then went out for three hours and when I came back the unit had finally ‘gone to sleep’, but exactly when it did that, I don’t know. The unit is described as ‘hot-swappable’. It seems that it isn’t. The ‘manual’ has a warning which tells you to turn off the device before removing disks.COMMENTS… I didn’t install the supplied software as Windows 10 doesn’t need it for the caddy to operate. Windows saw the disk in the caddy as soon as I switched it on. The Wavlink ‘One Touch’ copy program supplied merely copies from a user-selected source folder on an internal disk to a user-selected destination folder on an HDD in the caddy. Microsoft’s ‘SycToy’ does the same thing far more efficiently and is a much more sensible option as it only copies across new or modified files.Obviously the caddy is no use for cloning your C: drive as you’d have to remove that drive first! Much better to use the excellent Macrium Reflect Free software which allows me to clone any disk on the fly (even my C: drive) whilst I continue using the PC – something that’s not possible with software like Paragon or Acronis. Cloning my 500 Gb C: drive (300 Gb used) to a disk in the caddy using Macrium Reflect took 49 mins.Using SyncToy with Windows 10, I copied across 804 Gb of data from an internal HDD to a newly formatted HDD in the Wavlink caddy at an average transfer rate of 75 megabytes per second which, in the real world, is about par for the course for USB 3.0.SUMMARY – The Wavlink dual disk caddy looks good, feels good, takes up little room, and works extremely well as a USB 3.0 caddy for one or two HDDs. The cloning feature is a bonus, although not that useful to me as I’m only interested in cloning my C: drive and for that I have Macrium Reflect Free. If the e-manual made any sense and the ‘sleep’ feature worked as advertised, I’d gladly give this device 5 stars.
