Good for Someone With Good Lighting Options
I use this camera for zoom calls, and it is more than adequate. I’ve had it for over a year now, and overall I am happy to have purchased it. There *are* two ways in which it could be better.It tends to make the general picture a little more pink than it really is, and makes my face look a little paler than I really is. I have various lighting options in my office, including bulbs of different colours and brightnesses that I can change and combine. Nonetheless, it is a challenge to get the picture close to reality. That said, it is a vast improvement on my built in webcam (2012 I-mac) in terms of quality.The other negative is that the built in light is frankly horrendous. The problem is that the camera itself is only about 4cm wide, and using the built in light for a zoom call is like staring at a tiny donut shaped bright white lightbulb for an hour. Actually it is not like that—it *is* that. If you use the webcam with the light on for more than about 5 minutes, you’ll be seeing the little donut shapes that have been burned into your retinas whenever you close your eyes for the next hour.So it’s not a perfect item. But it’s not a total waste of money. It does seem well made, its easy to use with a mac (and probably with a PC, but I have not tested that), apart from the light, the design is sensible enough. And, if you can control the light in your space reasonably enough, the colour balance thing is not too much of a problem either.

Nicely designed with good functionality
Overall I’m impressed with this webcam. The design and build quality are both good. It is a good compact size and the grips allow it to sit nicely on the edge of laptops/screens without blocking much of the screen. The ring light only makes a difference in low light conditions but is still a nice feature. There are 3 brightness levels which are controlled by a touch ring (which has good sensitivity). With my windows laptop the webcam was plug and go and worked straight away with zoom, teams etc. I also use this webcam as a second camera for demonstration etc and it can be angled and mounted on a tripod which is great. I wasn’t super impressed by the image sharpness from the webcam but it is 1080p and much better than the webcam which is built in to my laptop.

Huge improvement over previous cameras
Used primarily for Microsoft Teams, this camera is a huge leap forward in my previous camera. Really good quality image with very easy integration into Windows and other video applications. Built in light, with three brightness levels, is very easy to control and helps give a very balanced image. For me, very good value for money.

A very decent option at this time
USB webcams haven’t really kept up with technology over the last 10 years, as evidenced by Logitech’s most popular model that is now 8 years old. None of them will deliver broadcast quality with a wide dynamic range, yet it has to be said there are some horrendous quality cameras on sale right now. If you want to run a Youtube streaming channel with a million followers you will no doubt spend thousands on a DSLR and professional lighting.Luckily the Vitade is a good choice for those of us who just want to use Skype or FaceTime etc. The image is generally sharp with accurate autofocus and no obvious image distortion either. When I first used it with Skype I found the image looked over sharpened with some artefacts and I was a little disappointed, however switching to Apple FaceTime was much better. In other words, it wasn’t the cameras at fault, rather Skype itself.I have read some adverse comments on the light, which I feel are a little unfair. I used to be a professional photographer working regularly with studio ring lights and if you want something that will illuminate a big area you’ll need something much bigger with a whole lot more power. This is simply a fill light that will help to balance out the shadows and reduce the bags under your eyes. If you are sitting in front of your computer at the desk it will lighten your skin.Perhaps the part I was most impressed by though was the built in microphone. These are generally woeful on most webcams and I have been using a separate Blue Yeti for a very long time to obtain clean audio. The sound on the Vitade is almost as good in practical terms and a lot less hassle to set up. For web chats it’s more than adequate.It would be nice if it included a privacy shutter and some software like the Logitech has for image adjustment, but if you have become frustrated like me looking for a webcam that works reasonably well without needing a second mortgage I think the Vitade is really quite good and I am happy to stick with this one.
