Cannot really over emphasise who good and reassuring these smoke detection units are. Like most ‘wifi’ enabled equipment its all based around the mobile phone App. Once downloaded the install of the smoke alarms is very straightforward following the instructions supplied. Fitting them again is simple & straight forward . The alarm sounder itself is definitely noticeable should they go off . As they are, they work as standalone smoke detectors however it is possible to link them so if one goes off they all go off with the purchase of another piece of kit , but all that is explained with the instructions etc. The real key and important benefit is you can locate these alarms in different physical locations other than within your own house and still have full functionality & visibility via the App. I have purchased now 3 sets of these alarms to cover my house and I have also fitted these into my elderly mothers house and already these alarms have proved there worth. Even though in a completely different location I have full visibility and get immediate alerts should the alarm be activated. You also have the ability via the App to instantly deactivate the alarm sound . Having had wireless App driven security cameras and security alarms for a long time now its great to have complete peace of mind now with these smoke detectors for both for myself and family members is really reassuring. Highly recommended and great value for money & peace of mind.

Like all my other x sense kit, this is easy to install and integrates well with the App. The price is amazing and this smoke alarm is compact and ideal for my log cabin. I get a good connection and overall I am very pleased with the quality of this kit.

Neat and modern smoke detector with wifi (XS01-WX)
Units are small, modern looking and neat, much smaller footprint than traditional detectors, although deeper so they do sit down from ceiling a little more. Setting up in general is easy, but you MUST have a 2.4Ghz wifi only band for these to connect and register. If you donât have this or arenât able to set one up (eg as a second WiFi), then it may not work for you. Iâve not tried disabling 5GHz and registering and then switching it back on after, some people say this works. Per other reviews itâs important to note the detector itself has a 10 year life (like many) but the battery life is only 1 year. (CR123 lithium battery), so you will need to replace it each year, not 10. Once set up any test on the detector button sends an alert to the app, as does any trigger or low battery warning etc. you canât remote test them sadly but the app does show the battery status.
with the app you set up rooms/areas in house and then add sensors to that area, itâs not immediately obvious. Iâve not had a chance to test the smoke sensitivity. Watch placement of smoke detectors to avoid âair dead zonesâ, the little manual does explain this.

Great for extra piece of mind!
I have two Nest Protects in my home covering the main two floors in my home. I love the fact these are wifi and send notifications to my phone if smoke is detected. Having recently had solar panels installed on my roof it was recommended that i consider a smoke alarm for the loft, i did look at adding another nest protect but at over £100 i couldn’t justify the cost, i therefore looked at alternatives.
Having read reviews on the X-Sense Wifi smoke alarm it seemed to fit my needs. The product is tiny in comparison to the Nest’s, i really did like the unobtrusive design. It comes with a non standard battery already in place so all you need to do is download the free X-Sense Home Security app and set up the device. The whole process was a breeze! The device will only connect to 2.4ghz wifi so bear this in mind when installing. I then used the including mounting kit to install the device near to my solar inverter which is in the loft. The signal was great despite my router being on the ground floor.
The app is simple but informative – it sends notifications if the device goes offline or if smoke is detected. The actual alarm is also eye watering loud – so even though the device is in the loft i am sure we would hear it go off within the main house.
In summary i wish i would have known about the X-Sense smoke alarms before i purchased my Nest system – i could have saved a ton of money for something that performs equally as well and in my opinion looks much nicer!

not the peace of mind I was hoping for
looks good and It was easy enough to install although it took a few attempts to connect with the cloud, I was hoping that this would go off at the first signs of smoke so if I was away I could alert the neighbours and hopefully rescue my cats, sadly as you can see you house will be probably in ashes before the alarm goes off, I did manage to get it to go off eventually and its a decent volume and a few minutes later you get a loud warning on you phone which is great, its such a shame this could have been a real peace of mind but sadly missed the mark.

Ich habe meine alten “dummen” Rauchmelder durch mehrere von X-Sense ersetzt und es ist einfach klasse! Einfach alle mit dem WLAN verbunden, super easy die Einrichtung per App! Die mitgelieferten Halterungen halten sehr gut.
Die App ist sehr aufgeräumt und übersichtlich und funktioniert sehr gut. Habe einen Test mit Rauchspray durchgeführt, die Rauchmelder haben sofort angeschlagen und alarmiert. Sowohl auf dem Handy als auch die anderen Rauchmelder im Haus, da diese ja alle miteinander verbunden sind.
Also wenn es “unten” brennt, melden auch die oberen und umgekehrt. Das war für mich der Hauptgrund diese Rauchmelder zu kaufen. Und, dass man keine Zentrale extra braucht, sondern alles über das bestehende WLAN funktioniert. Batterietausch war mir auch sehr wichtig, da die wenigstens ja 10 Jahre halten oder wenn, dann sind diese Geräte viel teurer, wie z. B. von Google.
