Keyless lock
I’ve been looking into smart lock options for an internal door, and was happy to try this. The idea of managing access digitally through an app, especially for temporary users, seems genuinely useful. Having multiple entry methods â fingerprint, passcode, and app â offers flexibility, and the inclusion of a physical key provides a necessary layer of traditional security.The double-locking mechanism and lockout mode also suggest a thoughtful approach to security. Battery power with low-battery alerts is practical, and the 9V jump-start is a sensible backup.Once fitted, it’s an easy way to grant people access to your property but my main consideration, though, is ensuring the lock’s dimensions are compatible with my existing door. Assuming it fits, this smart lock seems like a convenient and secure upgrade for managing internal access.

Good lock for inside
It is a pretty good interior lock, excellent for if you want to stop kids wandering into your home office, or for the stockroom in a small shop.Fitting, is pretty straightforward if you know how to fit a door handle. The hole is larger than some handles require, so if you are replacing an existing handle, you may still need to make adjustments. Once fitted, it feels pretty sturdy, to the point it may be easier to break the door down than break the handle.Then you can add fingerprints and pins, with the ability to limit some of them, so give a guest access to water your plants whilst on holiday, after which it forgets them.The addition of an emergency key, is great as it gives that piece of mind that if something does go wrong access can be made. The hard part will be where to store the key.A great little device.

The app won’t let me answer “Yes”
The manual that accompanies this smart lock, in its transport packaging, deals primarily with how to fit the lock into a door. The instructions are clear and contain a template for drilling and cutting. Four AA batteries (provided) need to be inserted in the inner face of the lock. The electronics of both the inner and outer face are connected using a short cable with an IDC connector leading from the inner part of the lock. This has to fit in a socket on the outer part of the lock. It is very fiddly, but one is rewarded by an audio tone to indicate success. It is the most troublesome aspect of the physical side of things.There are no instructions about how to configure the lock. This has to been done using the “Janus App” which can be downloaded from either Google’s Play Store or Apple’s App Store. As my phone is a Samsung I installed the app from Play Store. On first opening it I was asked to register by entering email address and password. Then an authentication email was sent to me and having opened this I was apparently ready to configure my lock. The app advised me that I had “…no locks yet!” but a large cross top right of the screen suggested clicking this might lead to adding a lock, and so it proved. The app and a new lock pair using Bluetooth. Pressing one of the number keys on the lock activates discovery. As my screenshot shows, my phone had discovered a lock. Yes, I do want to pair it. Alas, no button to say YES. Even after uninstalling and reinstalling the app I received the same message.I can’t get beyond this screen and having a £120 door lock that doesn’t work is why I have awarded only one star.I will persevere of course, and hopefully edit this review with a positive account of what happened next.

Great for straightforward home security
I installed this on the door to our home office and itâs worked a treat. Set-up was straightforward, with clear instructions and a decent app that made it easy to register fingerprints and set a passcode. The fingerprint reader is quick and accurate, and thereâs something very satisfying about just touching the handle to unlock it. The Bluetooth control through the app works well too, especially if you want to let someone in without giving them a code. Build quality feels solid, and the black finish looks smart without being too flashy. Itâs been reliable, no glitches or battery issues so far, and the auto-lock feature is handy if youâre someone who forgets to shut doors properly. Overall, itâs a slick bit of kit thatâs added a bit of privacy and convenience to the house.

Brilliant keyless entry solution, mate
This is a brilliant alternative to traditional door locks. I love the convenienceâno need to carry keys, as it unlocks via the app or a fob and automatically locks behind me. I also never worry about getting locked out with multiple unlock options available. The unlock history feature is a great touch.
