Useful motorcycle USB to 12v adapter
I have used this as a power source for my motorcycle satnav TomTom Rider 500.The Bike USB Port gives power output of 5v The satnav requires a 12v 800ma source so the 12v 1 amp output from this adapter is adequate.I have previously used a similar cigarette lighter setup on another bike but using a cigarette lighter fitting to connect the device. This works fine but is untidy, on the other bike not an issue as the usb port was under the seat. On the Moto Guzzi V85tt the usb port is on the dashboard so a neater solution was required.I simply removed the cigarette lighter receptacle and bared the wires. Worth mentioning that the supplied wire is extremely fine and clearly won’t support a heavy electrical load. Splicing the wires from the transformer into a waterproof automotive connector was tricky because of this. I used self soldering connectors.The set up worked straight away with the TomTom showing power and battery charge.Very happy with the result. Will probably have to waterproof the transformer box as it is not rated as IP.

Does the job
My car only has USB port at the back so this is a nice way to convert that into 12V cigarette lighter for certain devices I have. The make of it is fair, it does not look too durable and probably not a good idea if you had to plug and unplug often, better to just plug in and leave it. Not issues otherwise, working fine to power my back of car fan.
