    Stylish
I ordered this pop-up socket for my work desk, as I wanted a simple and easy way to charge all my devices, without having a mess of cables. I had to get someone to install this for me, but I feel it was worth it, as it creates much less clutter on my desk and saves space. The wireless charging on top is my favourite feature, as I could just leave my phone on top, allowing it to charge. Overall, very convenient and helpful. I hope this review helped you.

    useful
Pop-up socket is a useful and stylish addition to my desk. The wireless charger and USB-C port are useful, quick way to charge devices without hunting for plugs. Charging speed is good, though it could be slightly faster for some devices. The pop-up mechanism works well, smooth and responsive.

    Really not suitable for kitchens
The first thing you need to be aware of with this unit is that it is essentially an extension cable and, like those, it is limited in its power capacity by the single 13A plug on its end; you can’t draw as much power from this as you could (and often would) from one double wall socket. 13A, to all intents and purposes, will give you 3,000W; in your double wall socket you can plug in two 3,000W devices (such as a kettle and a toaster oven or iron) simultaneously, but in this pop-up device you can only plug in one before blowing the fuse.Except maybe not even that. The maximum power the leaflet says you can draw is 2,500W… so this unit is actually choking your supply to less than a bog standard extension cable can manage, and plugging that 3kW kettle in is a definite no-no. Well that’s not much good in a kitchen, where you will find some of the most power hungry plug in devices in your home. I don’t know what’s gobbling up that missing 500W; it isn’t the 20W USB socket…All of that, of course, is if you trust the instruction leaflet, which doesn’t seem to know which country it’s in. At the start it says “maximum power is 15A 125V 1875W” and “do not exceed the maximum power”, which is all very USA even though the pictures all show the UK socketed product; and then a page later it says “Rated voltage 110-240V” and “Rated power 2,500W”. Not at 125V, presumably. Inconsistencies in the instructions for safety critical products always make me nervous.OK, power aside, what else makes me think this isn’t great for a kitchen? Well, firstly, cleanability. There’s a clear gap all the way around the pop up top, so crumbs, airborne grease, soup, gravy, chardonnay and water can get in; and when the unit is in the up position, there isn’t a seal at it’s base flush with the counter top, just an inaccessible trench all the way around and extending down into the unit for the dirt to accumulate precisely where you can’t get at it.Water can get in, I hear you say? Yes. This item claims to be IP65 rated, which should make it proof against water jets from any direction. How about a mug of clean water? Well, I tested it with precisely that, simulating a spilled cup of coffee washing across the counter top. I then disassembled the unit and looked inside, and yes, the 230V mains pins were clear of any water, but the circuit board/voltage transformer for the USB connectors was awash; and, ironically, since there are no drainage holes inside, it was going to stay that way for quite some time. So as far as I’m concerned it might be safe (in the sense that you won’t get a 230V electric shock from water ingress – hopefully) but it isn’t waterproof or kitchen proof in the way I’d need or expect it to be.Finally, you need to be aware that any space you save on your counter top is lost twice over underneath it, perhaps where you keep that bulky Le Creuset bowl; it’s twice as deep below the counter as it is high above it. Most of this space is empty and just taken up by the hydraulic piston which provides the lift function.I’ve given it two stars instead of just one because in a dry and unchaotic environment, such as an office where coffee is banned, it might be quite cool. But in the end I think this is a case of style beating functionality.

    ideal desktop power solution.
in my office most of my computing equipment lives underneath and my monitors are powered by wall sockets so the desktop is nice and cable free but there’s often times i need to plug in items such as my vinyl cutter and other infrequently used devices that i dont want to have trailing wires hanging from the front of my desk when in use.this pop up socket is a great solution offering stealthy and quick access to power sockets in seconds and staying out of the way and unobtrusive when not in use.the icing on the cake is being able to leave my phone on top to charge while i’m working.installation is very straightforward but the size of the hole is very large and will likely require the purchase of an appropriate sized holesaw and compatible arbor so factor that into the overall cost when considering this. otherwise installation is basically plug and play after that.the unit is well made and the whole thing feels solid and reassuringly high quality which is important to me when dealing with anything involving mains electricity.it’s not cheap but having reviewed cheap pop up sockets in the past spending a little more in not necessarily a bad thing in this product market.all in all i’m very pleased with it.

    High quality product!
I have a breakfast bar and had a hole put through to feed power to coffee machines, phone, tablets etc. but it looked rather messy. I was lucky enough to be offered this Pop up Socket for Kitchen Worktops with a cordless charging system on the top of it.The device is of good size and weight and is a quality product. It has a very satisfying pop up mechanism that gently rises when pushed in… it has three plugs and a USB section, making charging my phone nice and simple and much neater.I havent yet been able to install it as Im awaiting my dad drill piece to make the hole bigger in my breakfast bar to install but ive fully tested it plugged in and everything works like a charm.Installation is super simple too. Once you have the hole cut (the trickiest part) then you just pop the socket into the hole and tighten the plastic holder onto it underneath, holding it solidly in place.I absolutely love this and cant wait to have it fully installed.
