Pretty speaker with traditional styling
I loved the design of this portable, rechargeable speaker when I saw it. Iâm a bit of an Emma Bridgewater fan, and the Polka Dot and Bumblebee design matches several pieces in my kitchen, including a Russell Hobbs licensed toaster.The speaker has a hard metal handle – which I wasn’t expecting, and doesn’t feel particularly pleasant when carrying the speaker – but otherwise seems pretty good. It’s lightweight and easy to use. The sound quality seems decent enough for the size and (reduced to £89.99) price of this piece, though the little but mighty Wonderboom 3 from Ultimate Ears beats it by a mile on depth and bass and at £89.99 is comparably priced.I will admit that Iâm not getting the most out of this because I’m using it through Bluetooth and not WiFi connection with Alexa enabled. With that in mind, it is a little annoying that the dial control to the left of the device used for selecting WiFi/Bluetooth doesn’t actually have mechanical function and this lacks memory, so every time it’s switched on I have to listen to it announce âWiFi modeâ before it can be set to Bluetooth âBluetooth mode; Bluetooth connectedâ.

As a speaker itâs beautiful, heavy and feels really well made and solid. Nice sound quality. I bought this instead of a battery base for my Alexa as I wanted music on the go and in the bathroom. Unfortunately when I try to play music of any kind it says âyou need Amazon music unlimitedâ for £11 a month. I use Amazon free music with every single traditional Alexa in the house, yes you canât choose a specific song but it works for us! Yes I can probably use Bluetooth for music but I shouldnât have to find a workaround as itâs why I got this speaker and I want to use voice control. It does work with any subscriptions I pay for like audible just not the free services as on review video. Will likely return!

Poor quality
Not great, lovely looking on the face of it, but not sure if they are seconds or something because the port you plug something in to was all wonky, hadn’t been fitted properly and the finish of the covering was sub standard so I returned for a refund

Not a radio – but still a decent product
The product description says this is a portable radio. It isn’t.It’s a portable Bluetooth speaker with built-in Alexa, which means you can stream digital radio, music, podcasts, etc using your Amazon account and associated apps, such as BBC Sounds.Set up via mobile phone was relatively straightforward and sound quality is decent, if not quite as warm and full sounding as my previous Hepburn DAB radio in a similar style. Once set up, it operates independently and will stream my Amazon and Spotify playlists, and live digital radio.
